The Last Airbender Leads 2011 Razzie Award ‘Winners’

It’s that time of year again, when the Oscars reward various filmmakers, films, and actors for their extraordinary cinematic work, and the Razzies punish various filmmakers, films, and actors for their especially horrendous cinematic work.

Last night, the 31st Annual Razzie Awards were held at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theater. To no one’s surprise, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender was the big “winner” (or maybe “loser” is more appropriate here) of the night, taking home the most Razzies. Alas, it wasn’t a clean sweep, as Sex and the City 2 took home several awards that Airbender was nominated for.

Toy Story 3, The King’s Speech & More Ineligible For WGA Screenplay Awards

When awards season rolls around every year there always seems to be a group of films that are tapped to pick up their share of the major awards. 2010 is no exception and this year the likes of Toy Story 3, Inception, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Black Swan and The Fighter are among those which have won awards already and look likely to pick up some Oscars as well.

However, when it comes to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA), there are rules which often prohibit certain awards favorites from winning in some of the big categories offered by awards ceremonies.

In this Mid week’s Wrap up: Javier Bardem eyes Wall Street; The Cox’s Scream again; Henson does Kung-Fu; Jones goes from Moon to The Deep; Robert Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan Remember Me and we get an eyeful of Bruce Willis’ Dicks.

1. No Wall Street For Old Men.

Oliver Stone and 20th Century Fox want Javier Bardem to star opposite Michael Douglas and Transformer 2 Shia LaBeouf in Wall Street 2.
Whilst Bardem hasn’t met with Stone or the studio as of yet, the Spanish star is at the top of their wish list to play the villain in the sequel to the Oscar-winning hit.

Apparently the plot of the movie involves LaBeouf’s character seeking revenge on (what would be) Bardem’s evil stock trader. In order to navigate the choppy waters of Wall Street the kid befriends Douglas’ Gordon Gecko who has been released from prison following the shenanigans of the ...
