The fourth installment of the Resident Evil film franchise is on its way with production having already begun in Toronto. Titled, Resident Evil: Afterlife and entering into the 3D genre, the movie brings back Milla Jovovich’s Alice character back to put an end to more zombies and the like.

Also returning to the franchise are two of the characters from Resident Evil: Extinction: Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield and Spencer Locke’s K-Mart. That’s not all though! If you’re a Prison Break fan, you’ll be happy to know that Wentworth Miller has signed on to play Chris Redfield, the brother of Ali Larter’s character and star of the recently successful Resident Evil 5 video game.

This is exciting news for fans of the films, especially knowing that there is a lot more to come in the future from the Resident Evil series. Recently, reports have popped up revealing that this movie is set to kickstart an entire second Resident Evil trilogy. Conflicting reports later revealed that the fifth film is some sort of reboot tentatively titled Resident Evil Begins.

We’re not sure what that means as of yet, but as we get more info, Screen Rant will keep you in the know.

Wentworth Miller, star or Prison Break

I imagine that what we’ll see in the background or conclusion of Afterlife will present the setting of fifth installment which will follow a team of military folk (read: victims) against a “powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.”

I wasn’t a big fan of the last two Resident Evils but I did enjoy the first for what it was. I’ll probably end up seeing this out of curiosity in hopes that its slightly better and the addition of Wentworth Miller certainly helps sell the flick.

Chris Redfield from Resident Evil 5 video game – Wentworth needs to start working out

What do you think about Wentworth Miller coming on board, and are you in for another set of Resident Evil movies?

Paul W. S. Anderson, who’s writing and producing, is also back in the director’s chair for Resident Evil: Afterlife and the film is set to release August 27, 2010.

[SPOILERS!!!]

The 4th season series finale of Prison Break ended it’s dying ratings existence in its Friday night slot.

This final season trudged along while everybody was chasing Scylla. The General wanted it, Christina Scofield wanted it. China wanted it. India wanted. Hell, who didn’t want it? I wanted it so I can find some dirt to write about.

I tried to break this down in a chronological order, but my new novel adaptation of Fox’s Prison Break was getting way too long. The closing story became too convoluted with twists, turns and the reappearance of old characters that I felt that maybe I just needed to draw on my emotions about the finale and not try to detail out the episode. We all say it. Right?

There are some SPOILERS included in one way or another, so you have been warned.

The brothers Michael (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) went through a lot through the entire show: from Michael allowing himself to be incarcerated to help free his brother Lincoln for a crime he didn’t commit, to the endless manipulations they were put through to achieve their one true goal: freedom.

General Jonathan Krantz (Leon Russom) was the man who was in control until Michael undermined his entire infrastructure by snagging different parts of Scylla from his control. The General’s only leverage on people was to have his operatives put everyone’s families and friends under the gun. Literally. In the end, his electrical reward was the perfect gift for all his deeds.

Christina Scofield (Kathleen Quinlan) was nasty. The mother of Lincoln Burroughs and Michael Scofield, she was the nasty nail in everything. She was a true “Company” operative that did what was necessary to get her job or goals done. She even gave up her kids to affect her end game. When all was said and done, her demise at the hands of Sara Tanchredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) was perfect.

Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell (Robert Knepper) was the tragic Shakespearean character in this show. Evil by impulse, he had gotten a taste of legitimate work and loved it. An honest job was one of the lures that the General used to manipulate him into doing his bidding.

Yet T-Bag had a keen analytical mind that was wasted on crime. In the end, the General’s biddings seemed to push T-Bag back to his core mode of murdering and “other” things. Knepper made T-Bag incredibly believable and I couldn’t decide to like, hate or feel sorry for him. In the end, his compulsive nature to take the easier path of crime landed him back where this all began, in a prison with some poor fool hanging on to his pocket linen.

Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner) was a catalyst of action when he had sufficient inspiration. I really enjoyed Fichtner’s portrayal of the character. In fact I like most of what William Fichtner does. He proves that men with receding hairlines can get the job done! Though he was forced to become allies with Scofield, things were worked out in the end for him.

Donald Self (Michael Rapaport) was the fed who promised immunity and gave the escapees blank paper for their work. Who then found himself manipulated back into the fold to be part of this ragtag team of non-criminals (mostly) committing criminal deeds. In the end, he was getting what he deserved as he found himself in a hospital.

Rappaport made us believe that Self was there to help, until he turned on the brothers. Then we didn’t know what to think about his loyalties until I decided that Self was loyal to no one but his own end game. In the end when he was put in a corner so to speak, his written defiance to the feds showed his loyalties finally cemented in with the gang and I’m mixed on his ending. In some ways he deserved it for all his manipulations. Then again, who deserves that kind of vegetative state?

Honorable mention though she wasn’t in the finale:

Jodi Lyn O’Keefe as Gretchen Morgan. I can’t remember a time when a character was done so well. O’Keefe played Gretchen so well that A: I hated every scene she was in. B: Every scene she wasn’t in, I was hoping the scene was producing some end-game to Gretchen’s demise. Yea, it was that bad. A kudos to the actress for scarring me for life.

The Finale Of Twists

Everyone had either been kidnapped or had someone they knew kidnapped or was going to be kidnapped. The other angle that kept coming at me was that every 30 minutes or so, someone else had a gun to Michael’s head. And everyone was tricking everyone. At least Michael had dissected that damn Scylla.

All the on-the-sly maneuverings that went on allowed some old faces and other government entities to show up and finally get the upper hand.

There were a few fresh faces of old in the mix. Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and Benjamin Miles “C-Note” Franklin (Rockmond Dunbar). Sucre and C-Note show up as C-Note has a way for everyone to get himself or herself out of this endless spiral of legal trouble they keep finding themselves in and they work their way toward finding Michael and Lincoln.

And suddenly there’s Paul Kellerman, (Paul Adelstein) offering a legal way out of this whole debacle, as it seems he’s backed by the United Nations. Man, everyone was in on this.

In the end, Kellerman had the power to exonerate everyone. Sucre keeps the pen he used to sign his freedom. Everyone bids farewell. Everyone’s loved ones are safe.

The End Let A Steam Out Of My Bag

As everyone is settling into normalcy, Michael’s nose starts to bleed again. You’ve got to be kidding me. Then we jump to four years later and Michael is dead.

It’s four years later and we watch Sara and Michael Jr. gather together with Sucre, Mahone and Lincoln to pay a remembrance visit to Michael’s grave. Lincoln leaves the ever-iconic origami crane on top of the tombstone.

My Quick Take

This finale had to pack a lot into two hours.

Quick nit: Did you notice the Verizon commercial showing off their streaming video in the first hour? They were showing scenes that weren’t going to happen for another 45 minutes? Just brilliant.

I think the show took a ton of extra turns and twists and steps to get where they were in the finale.

It felt like the writers never had an end game, but they let the writing take them wherever it did. That works for some, but then in the end, it feels like writers are scrambling to account for things they hadn’t fully explored or finalized.

Even though I enjoyed watching the finale, there were so many different twists and turns in it that it got old for me. At one point, we were just waiting for the close. It felt like an over-hyped James Bond action flick. Sometimes there’s so much action that it is no longer exciting to see yet one more explosion. Whoopee.

Michael’s death almost seemed to suck the emotion out of me. It distracted from the entire journey of these four years. It disappointed me that after all that work and effort, his only real reward was his own death. Does that mean he’s truly escaped and is free now? I don’t know.

I was hanging out on Twitter before and during the show and Twitter was aflame with frustration and anger toward the ending. It seemed anti-climatic after all was said and done.

For me, the image I can’t get out of my head, when all is said and done, is Lincoln putting the origami crane on Michael’s tombstone. For me, that sad and touching scene will probably be my memory of this whole series.

At least my emotions were invoked one last time and they managed to engage my imaginative depression one last time before closing credits.

I thought the first two years were fantastic.

After that, I know that Fox wanted to keep a ratings winner in their pocket, but the stretching of the feasibility started after the gang got manipulated into helping Self and then everyone else and their mother (literally) after that. If I stick to the first two years, I say fantastic. The third year, well, yea, OK, it was still good. But then this last season I was on-board solely out of sheer loyalty. Loyalty and the hope for a great end game kept me watching. I could not abandon Michael. I needed to see how he came out of all this.

How did you feel about the finale of Prison Break, the season as a whole or the entire 4-year run? Let us know.

Game Of Thrones

The HBO pilot for George R. R. Martin’s A Game Of Thrones will begin filming in Northern Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

Economically speaking, Northern Ireland is excited about the production coming their way. Emotionally speaking, this is great news for the fans of the book series.

The First Minister Peter D. Robinson said: “This is the first time that a TV production of such vast size and scale has been filmed in Northern Ireland.”

Supernatural is all new this week. With the new set of episodes comes the much-heralded meeting between Dean, Sam and their younger brother! Yep. The younger winchester brother I hinted at way back in February, will be played by Jake Abel (Threshold).

And for one more detail to keep in mind, the season finale of Supernatural takes place on May 14th!

Fringe

Everyone is presuming that Fringe will be getting a second season even though it hasn’t been officially announced yet. With that second season will come an interesting move of filming locations.

Fringe has been filming in New York City, but due to something or other about poor tax breaks for television productions, they’re moving to Vancouver.

So the big question is, can they make Vancouver look anything like Boston? I presume so. I’m betting if they actually said they were in New York City, things might have been different, being how cities love to be talked about. They claim it draws tourism.

Prison Break

Prison Break kicked it back in gear last week. Was it me, or did it just not pull you in? I guess it could be that it’s been so long since Fox actually gave up on showed it that I forgot everything. It pulled me back in at about the halfway mark.

But that still doesn’t detract from the 32% ratings drop in viewers on… oh, wait, another show slapped into Friday night! I’m shocked. The show pulled in only 3.3 million viewers. Fox must not care since it’s ending in a few weeks.

The finale is scheduled for a double-episode that airs on May 8th. As far as that stand-alone, 2-hour episode that’s been filmed, no one knows what Fox plans to do with it yet. If it doesn’t air, it better be on the DVD.

The 2-hour movie takes place in a 4-year flash-forward.

Burn Notice

Here’s a confusing note: Burn Notice is going to have a guest star in a season 3 episode.

The actor guest starring will be Michael Weston, from House and Six Feet Under. Weston (The actor) will play a character named Spencer who’s a little imbalanced.

He’s an MIT grad who uncovers a plan to sell the names of spies. Aside from the seriousness of the issue, he believes aliens are behind it. Hmm, they do say imbalanced.

Battlestar Galactica

If you’ve been waiting for the chance to purchase season 4.5 of Battlestar Galactica on DVD or Blu-ray, it became available for pre-order. It will be shipping on July 28th.

Dexter

Since I’m chatting up DVD’s, let’s talk Dexter. Season 3 of Dexter is available for pre-order, but oddly, no date has been set yet for its delivery. Thought you’d like to know.

Kings

We were asked by a reader if we knew anything about NBC’s Kings. Well, of course we do!

Kings had started out to what NBC considered to be dismal ratings, despite the hoopla they tried to generate about the show. Of course, being originally scheduled for Thursdays, then airing on Sunday’s didn’t help. Then moving it to Saturday, where in theory it was going to do better amongst the world of repeats on Saturday’s, it still didn’t seem to take with the hoped-for audience.

If you were wondering what’s up about the season being finished out, NBC is going to do just that. They’re looking to finish the rest of the season of Kings Starting Saturday, June 13th and running on through to July 25th.

True Blood

For the upcoming second season of HBO’s True Blood, Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as the Louisiana vampire Queen, Sophie-Ann. She’ll be in two episodes near the end of season two and if they go to a third season, she should have a more prevalent role.

Below is a preview of the upcoming 2nd season of True Blood. We already talked a little bit about True Blood’s 2nd season, now let’s show you something about it.

Ugly Betty

The season finale of Ugly Betty is due to air on May 21st. Guest stars lined up are Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. They’ll be playing themselves, as View hosts when Daniel is a guest of the show (in the show, not for real. I think I just hurt my brain). I’m sure you’ve heard of the View. It’s the show where the hostess’s get into big rip roaring arguments every 3 to 4 weeks to generate media, and try to pump up their ratings.

One other note: Ugly Betty is coming back on April 30th. That’s one week earlier than it was originally scheduled.

Last Week’s Ratings:

I hate repeating myself, so I won’t. When you get to the chart, you’ll see who dominated the top 2 spots. CSI moved into 4th with their Science Fiction Convention-based episode, where we saw some guest appearances by several Battlestar Galactica alumni. Did you catch everyone that was on the show? There were more than just Moore…

From Last Week

CSI had fewer viewers, but moved up from 7th to 4th. Mathematically, that confuses me. Fringe moves up 1 spot to 21st, while the ratings got murdered on Harper’s Island, and it tumbled from 20th to 34th on the list. Meanwhile, Heroes pushed up from 48th to 43rd as it approached its season finale. I included Miss USA 2009… having to be as thorough as I can, and, um, checking the quality of the programming content for our viewers. Yeah, that’s it. Coming in 64th on the list isn’t surprising considering how mundane = the outline they presently have is. Of course, this year, Ms. California seems to have generated the most notoriety I’ve ever seen for a runner-up (1st loser). Dudette, move on already.

We had one premiere, Sit Down Shut up, on Fox that debuted in 60th. Meanwhile, repeat episodes like the perennial performer NCIS still kept the top-20 mixed up. NCIS just hits all the right buttons. The appeal of the police drama, combined with the mystery of the top-secret world of the military and the mix of cast / characters is just the perfect hit for viewers. Good job CBS.

Best Performing Show For Each Network

Fox had American Idol as their bread winner, while ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was their best hit of the week. Considering the eye-candy, I’m not surprised. (I’ve been told one of the dancers, LT’s partner, Edyta Sliwinska, looks like my wife.) CBS hit 4th on the chart with their best performing show, CSI. NBC’s best hit, (on this list) is Southland, hitting 25th on the charts. The CW shows up near the bottom with their best performer, America’s Next Top Model.

Considering how much we love Smallville and Supernatural, I’m surprised at the numbers of these shows. Thank god they’re on the CW. Fox would have taken out their shovel and put them on Friday nights and buried them. Oops, did I just say that? Damn keyboard malfunctions all the time.

Just in case you really don’t know, WWE is “wrestling”. I’m not showing spots 3, 4, 7, 8 or 10 because they’re different episodes or air dates of the same things already noted. I’m not sure what to say about SpongeBob giving WWE a run for its money in spots 1-4. I can only root for the sea-faring sponge. Go Bob! Go! Huh, I’ve never rooted for a sponge before.

I think I will digress on the issue and not pursue this!

Personal Thought

I’m straying off the beaten path of my known realm of TV but I have to say that after I saw the short film that the upcoming Tim Burton-produced film, 9, is based on, I was moved at how much could be conveyed in a 10-minute, silent animated short. We are shown back story, present plight and future hopes all in 10 minutes.

I think 9 creator Shane Acker is abso-freakin-lutely genius and I can’t wait for more from him.

If you haven’t checked it out, this link will show you Kofi and Ross’s articles written about 9. Even if you don’t think that silent animated skits are your thing, maybe you can join the “Totally Surprised” section I’m sitting in right now.

I’m Done, I’m Shutting Up

If anyone has anything to add, help or have questions – you can leave a comment and we’ll do our best to answer them in the subsequent weekly article.

Thanks for coming by.

NBC’s Day One

NBC is pulling together a post-apocalyptic drama called Day One. It’s about a group of neighbors from an apartment complex after a catastrophic event. The cast includes David Lyons, Carly Pope, Adam Campbell and Thekla Reuten.

So will NBC give this a chance? They’ve nabbed Heroes ex-writer Jesse Alexander for the task of creating this little mini Jericho. Why do I call it that? It’s about a small band of survivors who strive to rebuild society and unravel the mysteries of the disaster than took place to force them into this situation.

 The Bachelor Turns Fans Off

Jason Mesnick outdid anything any other bachelor may have, or will ever do. At the end of the season, he picked his girl and asked her to marry him. Melissa was a happy ex-cheerleader from the Dallas Cowboys. He later dumped Melissa and went for plan B, Molly. Molly is the girl he dumped in favor of Melissa on the last day of the season of The Bachelor.

According to various polls, this move didn’t go over so well and people think he’s a stinker. (Different words used to protect the eyes of any youngsters reading!) But don’t worry, Melissa has already hooked up with a guy she’s been seeing on and off for the last two years.

Fringe

FOX is not committing to anything yet as people are starting to wonder if FOX will renew Fringe for another season. They say they want to wait and see how it does after its April 7th return to the air. Come on people. Do it. You know you’re going to.

Prison Break

FOX is putting together those extra two hours of Prison Break in the form a two-hour movie. It’s a self contained adventure and it takes place a few days after the events of the season (and series) finale.

Why? I have no clue. But that woman we all love to hate, Gretchen, is in it. Grr. I hope it finally happens to her!

Source: E Online

Knight Rider

In case you’re wondering, Knight Rider’s last episode aired last night. The organized fan clubs are trying to rally to let NBC know that they want to see it return. They even admit that the show is completely different than it was when the season began and they say that it’s finally getting its legs under it. The cast has been trimmed and they stopped figting the terrorist of the week. Just like it used to be in the original series. No news is good news, but in this case, no good news is probably just that, no good news. We’ll see what they have in store.

Life On Mars

I hope you weren’t a Life On Mars fan. If you are, you’re in for some real disappointment as your reality crashes back to Earth. ABC canceled Life On Mars. They are going to let it run its course of 17 episodes and they’re done with it.

At least the fans of this show can get themselves some closure as the exec producers have been told with enough time to put together a decent series finale. Unlike the way ABC unceremoniously dumped Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone.

At least you’ll get an answer to the obvious question everyone has: Is Sam Tyler in a coma or been smacked back in time by the car accident!

Survivor

Knowing how all of our readers are such big reality TV fans… crickets… I just had to warn you that CBS has ordered two more editions of the Gilligans Island mockumentary of sorts. At least that’s what I like to call it.

These two new “editions” will air in the 2009-2010 season. This will put the show into it’s 20th season, edition or whatever the h**l you want to call it and will officially make it the longest running reality TV show ever. Oh goody. I get quality time with my wife who happens to like this show.

Jerry Seinfeld Returns!

Jerry Seinfeld is joining forces with NBC for a new reality series. Yes, another one… but this one sounds like it could get interesting. Bear with me here! The show is tentatively titled The Marriage Ref and will feature celebrities, athletes and comedians, who will judge couples in marital disputes and recommend resolutions to their problems.

LOL… this sounds like a can of worms. Comedians tossing out advice to sparring wedded couples? Heck, cops don’t even like dealing with domestic disputes. This could be funny… and that is exactly how Seinfeld is playing it out… as a comedy.

Six one-hour episodes have been ordered and are expected to premiere in the fall.

Source: TV Guide

Burn Notice

Finally! After two seasons of Burn Notice where we’ve been learning how to be an operative on the lamb and getting the job done taking down bad guys, Michel Westin is going to come face to face with the person who had him burned in the first place. This is going to happen in tonights season finale.

Along with that event, Michael and Carla are putting each other in the crosshairs too. It should be an exciting episode.

Season 3 will be about Michael and Fiona still trying to not be together and Michael dealing with things from his past and his career choice.

With the guy who burned him outed, I hope they can continue to make this interesting. It’s been great having this subplot always in the background generating that little extra intensity to each episode.

V

Scott Wolf has joined the cast of V. Wolf will play Chad Decker, the reporter tapped by the visitors to distribute their propoganda.

The Simpsons

FOX has renewed The Simpsons for two additional seasons. That will bring the longest-running series in prime-time television history through its 22nd season. Zoinks!

2) Believe it or not, last Monday night’s Chuck, shown in 3D, scored its highest ratings of the season with just over 8 million viewers… Viewership was up 24%. If for some reason you want that 1D headache using those 3D “glasses” you got for the Super Bowl, you can catch the 3D version of Chuck on NBC.com. Source: NBCUni

3) Fringe Wedding News: On Fringe, FBI Special Agents Olivia Dunham and John Scott were seeing each other behind the scenes. This is where real life mimics TV, or something like that. The actors that play those two parts, Anna Torv and Mark Valley, were married in December. Congratulations to the new happy couple. I wonder when a little Fringe-baby will be on the way? Source: Yahoo.com

4) Speaking of Fringe: With the season underway, it looks like we’ll be learning more about something called “the Pattern,” and there will be an amazing revelation of Olivia Dunham’s past. It’s been said that she’s not what she seems. We’ll even become privy to Peter’s background. Additionally, we’ll also be seeing some form of closure for Mr. Jones… if you remember him. Source: SciFi Wire

7) As Prison Break winds down, expect to see the boys back in prison in the final episodes. Sigh. Give it a rest people. Oh wait, they are. This is the last season of Prison Break. Source: E Online

If you were watching the Super Bowl in Tuscon Arizona on your Comcast cable service, you got a wee bit more than you bargained for! With less than 3 minutes to go, right after the big Arizona touchdown, poof: 30 seconds of the Club Jenna channel (for those of you who don’t subscribe to it, that’s a porn channel boys and girls), then back to the recap of the touchdown. Zoinks. The FCC is looking into it and Comcast said this might have been a malicious intrusion by neighboring Cox Cable. Double zoinks!! I wonder if anyone grabbed for their 3D glasses then? Source: E Online

9) For the unknowing Nip/Tuck fan, you do know this is their sixth and final season, right? That is all.

10) Just in case you were wondering when the supposed brotherly feud was going to erupt, it will be in the last three episodes of Supernatural where Sam and Dean don’t see eye to eye, or more bluntly put, Sam vs. Dean. Ug. I’m not looking forward to that one. I can’t imagine them being totally at each others throats. Can you? Source: EW.com

11) For you Kyle XY fans, you may want to pull out your crying towels. ABC Family is letting the show go in place of three new shows they’ve ordered to take its place. 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the feature film of the same name. Perfect 10, a drama set in the world of competitive gymnastics & Ruby and the Rockits, a comedy about a former teen idol whose own family life is turned upside-down when his brother/ex-bandmate shows with his daughter. Oh please, hold me back. Source: TV Guide

12) We know Reaper is coming back to The CW. But the new info is that it’s coming back sooner than planned. As of right now, it’s slated to return to the airwaves on March 3rd and slated to run its entire 13 episode run. Mark your calendars! Unfortunately, it sounds like the goat being led to the bait stake in Jurassic Park! They’re putting Reaper in at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, and sliding 90210 back to 9 p.m. to protect it from the competing American Idol show on FOX. It’s always the interesting shows that get screwed. Source: THR

14) The Digital TV transition is going to be delayed. The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to push the transition date back to June 12th. Basically, the “coupon program” ran out of money. Maybe some of the stimulas package money can go for this… it’s going for everything else. Welcome to the bright, shiny new America – the only government that will pay you to watch TV. Source: TV Guide

All kinds of goodies took place this last week. Let’s get on with the tidbits of TV!

1. Bruce’s Public Service Announcement: Be aware that the season premiere of season 4.5 (Is that just not the most ridiculous thing ever?) of Battlestar Galactica that is airing this Friday on January 16th will run over by 3 1/2 minutes. That means you need to make the appropriate changes to whatever recording device you may employ, if that is indeed what you are doing. Me, I’m gonna be there live! Despite in-laws crawling all over my place, they’ve been warned. Back off when my show comes on. Go to sleep, go for a walk, go for a drive, or watch it with me, but git out of my way and don’t talk during my show! I take my BSG serious!
 2. Some of the biggest news this last week was the Golden Globes awards. Here’s a list of Television Series wins that came away with some of that award glitter:

Madmen beat out Dexter, House, In Treatment and True Blood for Best Series

3. If you’re a Faye Dunaway fan, keep an eye out. Dunaway is making a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy in February. Source: EW.com

4. Speaking of Grey’s Anatomy: Melissa George who played the rambunctious, self destructive Sadie has left the show. Tuesday was her last day as she is off to “Do something else”. Rumor on the street says it was a mutual decision between her and ABC. Some think the character was too flamboyant. Source: EW.com

5. Stephanie March will be reprising her role of Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot on the popular crime drama show, Law & Order: SVU. Right now, she’s slated for 6 episodes. If her return is a success, will they consider keeping her on? Source: NBC

6. Pushing Daisies star Swoosie Kurtz is slated to make an appearance on NBC’s Hero’s this spring. Her character, Millie, will be on at least one episode. What’s not known is whether Kurtz’s role will become a recurring role. Depends on audience reaction I guess. Source: TV Guide

7. Remember Laura Vandervoort who played Kara on Smallville? I thought I’d follow up (Not stalking, really) on what she’s been up to since her Kara days. She’s had roles in The Jazzman, due out this year; she played Marcie Cutler in Out of Control, due out this year; Frankie in Damage that is due out in 2010 and presently she’s working on her latest project: Into the Blue 2, also due out in 2010. She keeps everyone apprised of her whereabouts on her website, lauravandervoort.net. She has a surprising versatility to her photo portfolio. Sources: IMDB,

8. Survivor castaways have been announced and the new trick this year is they will be split up into 2 teams immediately and 2 folk will be left behind before anyone even gets to know each other. Ouch. The kid who was always picked last for kick ball will probably be left behind again! The motley rice eating, bug crunching bunch ranges in age from 19 to 53. Source: CBS

9. Supernatural and Smallville kick off the 2nd half of their seasons on January 15th.

10. Stargate: Atlantis generated some great numbers for the Sci-Fi Channel, bringing in an estimated 1.15 million adults between the ages of 25 and 54. The highest rating since their season 4 finale. Source: SyFy Portal

11. John Glover (You may remember him as Lionel Luthor on Smallville) is joining the cast of Heroes. He’ll be playing the part of Sylar’s biological father. He’ll show up about 5 episodes into the 2nd half of the season.
12. Everyone is reporting the hottest news this week that Prison Break will be canceled, or more to the point, be allowed to run its course and end gracefully. For whatever reason, they may add an additional hour or two to fully complete the endless story of the chain gang constantly having to escape something. Of course, if you’re a faithful Screen Rant follower, you knew this already since we reported it back in November. Stick with us… we’ll keep you on top of things.

I mean face it, it’s called Prison Break. They got out… from 2 different prisons. Now if they renamed the show to “On the Lamb”, or “Michaels Vengeance” or “Whistler on the Roof”, maybe they could have pulled this off. Who knows.

But if you’re a paranoid doom-sayer like I can be sometimes, the fact that the remaining six episodes of its 22-show order weren’t on Fox’s recently released schedule for mid-season just makes one wonder what’s up over there in the halls of Fox. I mean they’re so good at how they handle their franchises, I just can’t imagine something going wrong. … <crickets>

My Own Worst Enemy is struggling in ratings, and the network ax comes flying from the darkened shadows of the network hallways. And through it all, while Knight Rider also struggles with ratings in it’s Wednesday time slot, it gets to keep on rolling. (No, I’m not bitter.)

To keep Knight Rider viable in the line-up of NBC shows, the story line is going to stop being about the terrorist of the week, and start doing more personal rescue tales, much along the lines of what made the original as popular as it was in hit’s hey day.

On the down side of the show continuing, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Yancey Arias and Bruce Davison were not signed on to stay with the show past the initial 13 episodes. The network is paring down the focus of the show to just Mike (Justin Bruening), Sarah (Deanna Russo), Billy (Paul Campbell), Zoe (Smith Cho) and KITT. I think that they just want to be able to afford KITT’s voice actor, Val Kilmer.

This new focus of show runner Gary Scott Thompson has been referred to as a reboot. Yea, you read me right, they called it a reboot.

So if this is a reboot of the re-imagining of the two-hour pilot reboot, what the bloody blazes does that make this? The ghost from Networks past? The Re-re-re-boot. Cripes, just rename the show “Transformers, the Prequel” and be done with it. KITT can be the first one on Earth, the forward scout. Heck, why not make KITT’s chip start acting up and have him think he’s a Ford Pinto at the worst times and blow up? (Nope.. not bitter.)

All joking aside, if I were to play political-favorites-guessing-game, NBC may feel like they owe Thompson for cutting his show legs out from under him when they cut Vegas in the middle of a season cliff-hanger. People want to know about Danny’s and Delinda’s baby, where was Coop and who finally got the casino? (Gary, remember me at Comic-Con? Take note: ) Maybe KITT can take a tour through Vegas in one episode and they can hint at some of these missing details in the background of the story! I’m not asking for the actors, just drop a clue in the script. Some folk just need closure from the mind of the source.

We can all hope, right? I mean the poor guy gets asked about this on a non-stop basis. I think he needs to put this to rest and KITT can help as he continues to roll on.

Here's a quick rundown on the characters in the season 4 premiere of Fox's Prison Break.

No that’s not a word, but that is my expression. I enjoyed the premiere of Prison Break as it breaks into its 4th season and as far as I can tell, everything we loved about Prison Break is still there.

The suspense, surprises, worries and other twists were there and there was at least one spot that kind of smelled lame. I presume it was to move the story along at a faster clip, but you’ll see what I mean in a moment.

First, this isn’t your normal everyday recap. Nope. That makes sense, being that I’m not your normal, everyday writer! What I am going to do is chat about a few of the characters I saw in the 2-hour premiere and the details from those snippets will fill out some of the storyline.

WARNING: If you have DVR’d the Prison Break premiere for future viewing, there are details and fillers that will spoil the episode if you look for the surprise, shock and awe in an episode. On the other hand, I don’t spell out the order of things, so there still might be some surprise for you… if you dare!

So here we go…

After getting out of Sona, everyone gets busted – again. It goes down real fast and they all end up back in jail. Which is pretty convenient since now a small federal effort (At least that’s what it seems for now) is underway to take down “The Company.”

The brothers Scofield: After Michael hunts down Whistler and our favorite girl to hate, Gretchen, he interrupts a job where they were trying to steal some data off of a weird looking card / device. All in the name of The Company. Gretchen is completely unaware that during the heist, Whistler was doing some side work. He made a copy of the data thingy and passed the copy off someone else.

Michael and Lincoln are brought together with their old gang of associates to get this data back, known as Scylla, for the feds. A new player in the show, Donald Self, is the gangs wrangler and watch dog. (He’s put GPS anklets on everyone to keep track of them, which in itself worries me that somewhere down the road, that technological leash will be exploited by the bad guys in this whole scheme).

Sara Tancredi: The biggest point for me in this season opener is the new loose cannon, Sara. Yes, I said loose cannon, and we’ve got two of them. I think as far as explaining someone’s “death” away as an accidental identification of a severed head in a box in a dark location wasn’t too bad. I’ve seen worse explanations in other shows, so I’m OK with that. But Sarah is having what appears to be real issues with PTS from her torture sessions at the hands of our favorite lying beeotch, Gretchen Morgan.

Bruce thinks: Something is going to go terribly wrong for Sara, in her head. I don’t know when it will pop up, but you know it’s going to be a the worst possible time. And I think it’s the next time she might see Gretchen.

Alex Mahone is the second loose cannon to watch out for. Mahone is in on this party to collect the much coveted components of the Scylla. He’s got great operational insight that helps them locate one person already and I like Mahone as far as taking the action necessary to get a deed done. And done right.

Bruce thinks: With the death of his wife and child at the hands of our newest, soft spoken, torturous bad guy, Wyatt, Mahone now has an inner demon that I predict will get in the way at crucial moments and I’m betting when there’s a well laid plan in place, and he sees the man responsible for the death of his family, he ain’t gonna stick to plan. At least not the groups plan.

T-Bag. Can we ever be rid of Theodore Bagwell (T-Bag)? Well it turns out he has the dead Whistler’s bird book of codes and is making his way to Los Angeles to confront Michael. He’s blaming Michael for a lot and thinks he and Michael are a lot alike and Michael just won’t admit it. Sheesh. He’s got himself a building list of emotional scars going on, starting with his hand. And now, you can add cannibalism to the list of travesties that he blames Michael for. Yeah, yeah… you’ll have to watch the episode to understand that one, but sure enough, he’s got one more emotional scar to pack on top of the rest of his twisted psyche.
