This week, we also found out that Karl Urban has joined the cast as the evil vampire named Black Hat and earlier, Maggie Q signed on as a warrior priestess who joins Bettany’s character on his mission.

It looks like originality won out at the box office for a change. Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 banked a cool $37 million over the weekend. The Peter Jackson produced Sci-Fi film had a negative cost of just $30 million and with great reviews it looks like this could do well in the long run too.

Teaser Poster For ‘Priest’

Teaser Poster For ‘Priest’

A striking first poster has been released for the upcoming comic book adaptation, Priest. The film is set in a world where humans and vampires have been at war for centuries, and it follows a priest who disobeys the church by going after a band of murderous vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Priest was originally set to be produced by Sam Raimi, star Gerard Butler, and released last year – however both Raimi and Butler evidently left the project some time before production started. It now stars Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight), and lies in the hands of director Scott Stewart, who’s also directing the upcoming Legion (also starring Bettany).
