The Happening: Official Trailer And Website Finally Online

Written on February 18, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

The Happening movie trailerGeez, sometimes it feels like you've got to twist a studio's arm to get a trailer out.

First there was a crappy YouTube version that made the rounds on movie websites. Then there was the teeny tiny version you could watch on a French website. Finally, 20th Century Fox has released a full trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's next movie, The Happening.

You can see the trailer below and rest assured that it's not going anywhere. :-)

I know I've ragged on M. Night a bit of late, but based solely on the trailer, The Happening looks pretty effective. Does that mean that the end product will necessarily be great? No, but at least we won't be writing this one off right off the get-go based on a terrible trailer.

M. Night's The Happening Teaser Trailer Is Super-Creepy

Written on February 5, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening[UPDATE: Ok, it's finally online here.]

Sorry it took a little while to get the teaser trailer for The Happening online, but I was hoping to find a higher resolution version. No luck yet, so here is what's available.

In my last post about this movie I wasn't terribly kind, for reasons you can read for yourself, but I have to admit that this teaser gives off a very effective and extremely creepy vibe. Who knows? Maybe Shyamalan can make up for his, shall we say, less than impressive Lady in the Water and break out of his downward trend with this one.

Iron Man Superbowl Spot, Tons Of New Pics & New Website

Written on February 3, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

Iron Man Super Bowl Trailer & New Website

Are you ready for an Iron Man movie overdose? You can watch the new TV spot for Iron Man below, plus, Paramount has updated the official website for the movie, AND there are a bunch of new images from the movie as well!

The clip below show a lot of new footage and it's very "hip." It's designed to intrigue people who've probably not heard of the movie yet and as far as that I think it works well. For people who've been following the movie for months, while it does show a lot of new footage, it seems kind of... I don't know.. like candy, if that makes any sense. Yeah, it's cool, but I'm not sure if it makes me more excited about the movie like everything else I've heard and seen so far does.

Official Star Trek Teaser Trailer Online!

Written on January 21, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

Star Trek 11 Teaser Trailer

Ok, the heck with the YouTube bootleg version, here's the officially released Star Trek trailer.

If you first saw the bootleg version, you haven't really seen it. This trailer is super-cool and I'm starting to believe that J.J. Abrams is going to be able to really bring in a new generation of fans to the Star Trek universe with his vision for the film.

Check it out below.

New Iron Man International Trailer (Higher Quality)

Written on January 10, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

Iron Man International trailer

Two months ago a foreign website hosted a tiny version of an international (and different) Iron Man trailer. I've been waiting for a larger version to surface and today higher res versions of the trailer have arrived online - and of course I've spared no time in getting a higher quality version for you right here. :-)

Meet The Spartans Trailer: No Need To See The Whole Movie

Written on December 27, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Meet The SpartansDoes anyone honestly think that Meet the Spartans, the next spoof movie from the folks that brought us Epic Movie and Date Movie is actually going to be worth sitting through?

Well I suppose that the same people who actually thought that AVP-R was great might think so. :-)

Seriously, just watch the trailer below, chuckle a bit at some of the marginally funny bits and call it a day. There's no need to waste $10 and an hour and a half of your life sitting through this thing because everything even remotely funny in this movie is right here:

Hancock Trailer: Will Smith As A Slacker Superhero

Written on December 21, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Hancock Trailer: Will Smith As A Slacker Superhero

[UPDATE: You can find a newer trailer for Hancock here.]

Other movie sites have given the Will Smith superhero movie Hancock some coverage of late, and honestly I had no idea what they were talking about. I hadn't heard anything about this movie until the bootleg trailer appeared on YouTube. It was yanked shortly thereafter and I never even saw it.

The basic plot is that Will Smith is a regular shmoe/slacker who happens to have superpowers. It is obviously a comedy and I think that putting together Will Smith plus superhero just can not miss at the box office.

He fights crime and such but apparently not without some prodding, and in the most comic book-like screen version of a superhero movie yet, he causes a LOT of collateral damage. Seriously, have you read a comic book lately? You do NOT want to have superheroes protecting your city. We're talking millions of dollars in property damage every time they fight some supervillain downtown.

New Trailer For The Signal And A Release Date!

Written on December 21, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

The Signal: New trailer and release dateIt looks like the horror flick The Signal is finally getting released a full year after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last January.

Initially it was supposed to be released this past September and I was afraid it might come and go unnoticed. In my review of The Signal I gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. I found it to be scary, gory, funny and unpredictable.

Today Magnolia Pictures released a brand new trailer for the film and you can watch it below. It's much different than the previous trailer, and between the both of them you can get a decent feel for the tone of the film.

New Hellboy 2 Trailer And Images Here

Written on December 20, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Ok, ok... I haven't given Hellboy 2: The Golden Army any coverage here on Screen Rant...

You got a problem with that?
New Hellboy 2 image

Although I thought the original film was cool in an offbeat kind of way, I watched it and almost immediately forgot about it (I should probably rent it and see it again). So when word came out about a sequel, I didn't jump to cover it because frankly, there are a ton of movies coming out and I had enough to write about as it was.

I'm going to make up for that with this post showing new images released by Universal Pictures and the brand spanking new trailer. :-)

Above you can see Ron Perlman as Hellboy himself, with one big honkin' gun and a few more images follow after the jump.

New Wall-E Trailer Is Indescribably Adorable

Written on December 17, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Wall-E from PixarI really hesitate to use words like "adorable" here on the site but hey, if the shoe fits...

It looks like Pixar is going to have another hit on their hands. They've released a new trailer for their next CGI-animated film: Wall-E. As are most of their characters, Wall-E is as cute as a button (although he bears and incredibly strong resemblance to "Number 5," the robot from the 20 year old robot movie Short Circuit.

You can watch the new trailer (courtesy of IGN.com) below.

The New Dark Knight Trailer Is Here!

Written on December 16, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Christian Bale as Batman in a scene from The Dark Knight

On Friday I had the chance to watch the six minute Dark Knight preview but not the new trailer for the movie. Although the preview was fantastic, I'd also heard that the second (and first full length) trailer for The Dark Knight is great as well.

I didn't post the bootlegged and cruddy looking trailer that's been circulating for a couple of days because not only was it lousy looking, but I don't support people sneaking into movie theaters with camcorders. I've been hearing that the official trailer will premiere at one of the Dark Knight viral sites called "A Taste For The Theatrical."

Well that's all irrelevant because the official trailer is finally online at the site and you can watch it below right now!

10,000 BC: First Full Trailer

Written on December 12, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

10,000 BC : The Movie
Of all the odd places for the new trailer for 10,000 BC to premiere... CHUD.com.

According to CHUD, the trailer premiered on G4's Attack of the Show, a painfully hip daily program covering movies, videogames, viral videos and the like. Why Warner Bros. didn't then put it on Apple.com or Yahoo! Movies is beyond me, but anyway... It's in Quicktime over there and if you want a more browser-friendly version you can watch the trailer in Flash below.

New Jumper Trailer

Written on December 8, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

A scene from Jumper

"There are always consequences."

Samuel L. Jackson says that in the upcoming movie Jumper, which also stars Hayden Christensen. It's one of those lines that are twice as cool when spoken by Jackson as they would be be anyone else.

Jumper is about a young man (Christensen) who discovers he has the ability to teleport. At first it's a suprise, but then he views it as a gift giving him almost unlimited freedom. Of course, as Sam Jackson states above, there are always consequences. :)

The teaser trailer came out about two months ago, and today we have a brand new full trailer for Jumper.

Speed Racer Trailer = Live Action Video Game

Written on December 6, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

speed-racer-dec1sm.jpgI'm not quite sure what I think of this Speed Racer trailer. I don't think one can really complain because it looks like it will be about the most faithful translation of an old cartoon series to a big screen live action movie. Earlier today we brought you a bunch of Speed Racer images and now the trailer those images are from is online.

It looks rated G. It looks really simplistic in it's writing. And it looks more like a cartoon come to life than anything I've ever seen before with the super bright primary colors and effects. If nothing else it looks like the Wachowskis (who brought us The Matrix, as if you didn't know) will once again contribute a groundbreaking film to the masses.

Trailer after the jump...

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Trailer & Poster

Written on December 5, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Prince Caspian from The Chronicles of NarniaI haven't given the Chronicles of Narnia movies much coverage, but this trailer for the second film in the series - Prince Caspian, looks pretty good.

I watched the first one with high hopes, but in the end I was left a bit disappointed by it. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, while visually very cool and despite the fact that I liked the actors, just felt kind of... empty to me. I can't put my finger on it, but I was expecting to be moved by it in a way similar to how the Lord of the Rings trilogy affected me. It looked like that was the vibe they were going for, but in the end I thought it fell flat.

In any case, here's the new trailer along with the poster:

New Creepy Trailer: The Orphanage

Written on November 30, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

The OrphanageI thought that the first teaser trailer for The Orphanage was kind of cheesy and told you almost nothing about the film. Now there's a new full-on trailer and it's far, far better than the one that came out just a few weeks ago.

This one gives you a lot better idea of what the film is about and although it starts out kind of slow and I still don't like the cheesy voiceover, I have to admit that by the end of the thing I was feeling pretty tense.

In Bruges: Awful Title, Funny Trailer

Written on November 26, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

colin-ferrel-in-bruges.jpgThis past weekend I saw the trailer for In Bruges with No Country for Old Men. It looked very funny and I suppose you'd have to categorize it under Quirky Black Comedy. The film will open the Sundance Film Festival a little over a month from now, so I found it odd to see a trailer for it at a movie theater. Generally trailers are only shown for movies that are "coming soon to a theater near you" but after some checking I see that this has already been picked up by Focus Features for at least a limited release in February '08.

I don't think this will be a big hit with mainstream audiences, but it looks like one of those little indie flicks that might end up being considered an undiscovered gem.

New Hitman Trailer

Written on November 15, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Hitman movie posterThere's a new trailer for the upcoming video game-based movie Hitman.

This new trailer actually gives a bit more information about the story in addition to the scenes of people being executed by the lead character "47," and tons of artsy shots in slow motion. And the lead character actually talks in this trailer. Not much, but hey, it's something. :-)

After watching this trailer, if it hadn't been based on a video game I would swear they took the idea from the Bourne series. Of course the books have been around for a while, so maybe they did get the idea from the Ludlum novels. Any way, the trailer follows after the jump.

Trailer For Major Movie Star Looks Awful

Written on November 13, 2007 by Brian Rentschler

The trailer for Jessica Simpson's upcoming movie, Major Movie Star, is making the rounds, and it looks like it will be awful. Why isn't she choosing better material than this? I'm not trying to suggest that she could ever win an Oscar, but with her level of fame, I would think she could do better than what appears to be a ripoff of Private Benjamin.

You can see the trailer here or click on the image below.

Vague Teaser Trailer For The Orphanage

Written on November 9, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Click here for a larger version of the poster for The OrphanageThere's a new teaser trailer out for the Guillermo del Toro horror movie The Orphanage. While the poster is pretty cool (click on the image for a larger version), the trailer is completely vague about the plot of the movie and it has a typical cheesy whispery/raspy voiceover.

Here's the description of the movie, which you'd never gather from the trailer below:

Laura purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children. Once there, she discovers that the new environment awakens her son's imagination, but the ongoing fantasy games he plays with an invisible friend quickly turn into something more disturbing. Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place

I hope the movie turns out to be better than this teaser.

First Valkyrie Trailer

Written on November 8, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

tom-cruise-valkyrie.jpgI haven't done any coverage of the Tom Cruise starring film Valkyrie, but I thought you might like to see the trailer.

There's been a lot of controversy surrounding the shooting of this movie over in Germany due to Cruise's Scientology beliefs, which they (correctly) labeled as a cult. Anyway, the movie is based on the true story of a number of German officers who conspired to assassinate Hitler during World War II. It was directed by Brian Singer, who you probably know is the guy behind the very well done X-Men, X-Men 2, The Usual Suspects and the not so great Superman Returns.

This looks to be quite good and probably a film that my wife will actually come with me to watch at the movie theater. :-)

The trailer follows after the jump.

Cool International Iron Man Teaser Trailer

Written on November 5, 2007 by Heath McKnight

starksm.jpgThis is a very cool new international trailer for Iron Man, mixing in new and old footage, but it's only available on YouTube, right now. You can see it the YouTube version here or you can watch a larger version of it below. We'll replace the fuzzy version below with a better one as soon as we can find it!

Awesome, funny and more Pepper Potts! And some romance, too.

New National Treasure 2 Trailer

Written on November 1, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

National Treasure 2: Book of SecretsHere's a new trailer for National Treasure: Book of Secrets (aka National Treasure 2). I think this trailer is better than the previous one... it gives quite a bit more information about the movie, but not so much as to ruin it.

This movie (much like the first one) looks to be just a fun adventure movie that you can take the whole family to. It's in the genre that I tend to cut some slack to because it's obviously kind of "light and fluffy" and while delivering some action and thrills it obviously doesn't take itself too seriously. Just seriously enough to keep you in the movie, but knowing the whole time that it's winking at the audience.

Anyway, check out the trailer and let us know what you think:

Another Red Band AVP-R Trailer

Written on October 30, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Alien vs Predator 2I was going to throw a copy of the new Aliens vs Predator:Requiem footage (it's not really technically a trailer, actually it's a scene from the movie), but it's pretty damned gory so I'll just point you towards IESB.net to check it out, where they will ask for some age verification.

This one looks to be shaping up as what the first one should have been.

Thanks to SHH! for the heads up.

Brand New Trailer For The Action Flick: Wanted

Written on October 30, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Angelina Jolie in WantedA small handful of images were released a couple of days ago for a new movie I know nothing about called Wanted. It starts Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman as members of an elite underground group of assassins (what other kind is there, anyway?) who take the son of one of their members under their wing and train him in "the business."

I understand this is based on a comic book/graphic novel. Perhaps one of my learned visitors can enlighten me. :-)

In any case, check out the trailer which is pretty damned cool in my opinion...

Higher Quality Official Rambo Trailer

Written on October 25, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

stallone-rambo.jpgThere was a YouTube version of the official trailer for the new Rambo movie making the rounds yesterday. Well here's a higher res and better quality version of it.

It's toned WAY down from the previous footage that I had on the site a while back and is more of a standard trailer, suitable for all audiences. Looks like classic Rambo to me and I'm looking forward to this one.

Two New I Am Legend Trailers: One Great, One Lame

Written on October 24, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

It's raining I Am Legend trailers today. There's a new U.S. version and a new international trailer for the movie. While I liked the first U.S. trailer, this new on is IMHO pretty damned boring. On the other hand, the international trailer really makes me want to see the movie.

The film opens mid-December, stars Will Smith and seems to be a twist on the old Sci Fi movie The Omega Man which starred Charlton Heston. Smith plays the last man left on Earth after some sort of catastrophe wipes out everyone else. Of course he's not really alone... eventually some rather creepy characters start showing up, no doubt mutated by whatever happened, and they look suspiciously like vampires to me.

New (Annoying) Trailer For The Mist

Written on October 20, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

A Bible thumping fool from The MistThere's a new trailer out for The Mist, which is based on a Stephen King novel that I haven't read. It might not bother you, but both of the trailers for this film annoy the heck out of me with their portrayal of an idiotic supposed Christian. I understand the film is similar to the book in this respect.

The character spouts off stupid lines like:

"Read the Good Book, it calls for blood."

"We want [to kill] the boy."

etc.

And from the first trailer the woman who speaks these lines apparently gets a few other morons on her side as well.

New AVP-R Trailer: Holy Cow, Will I Be Wrong About This One?

Written on October 2, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

[UPDATE: Apparently I wasn't wrong: AVP-R is terrible - worse than the first one.]

Alien vs Predator 2Thanks to IGN.com we have a look at a brand new trailer for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem / AVP-R.

At least trailer-wise this thing seems to be looking better and better. There are scenes in this new trailer that actually seem to be paying homage to the original Alien movies, and the lead female Reiko Aylesworth seems to be channeling Sigourney Weaver big-time.

At the very least I'm betting it'll be better than the first AVP...

Slightly New Wall-E Trailer

Written on October 2, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

wall-e.jpgI've loved every single movie Pixar has ever produced and I don't think that Wall-E is going to be an exception. I was lucky enough to see a few minutes of footage at the San Diego Comic-Con this summer and without a single word of dialog to be heard, the sequence was completely captivating.

A while back a teaser trailer came out that emphasized the creation of the idea for the film more than the film footage itself. It was a great teaser, but if you were hoping for a lot more from this new trailer for Wall-E I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed. While it does have a cute riff on the standard Pixar opening logo, there is only one new scene in the trailer.

It's good... it's just not very much.

Much, Much, MUCH Better Trailer For AVP 2

Written on September 20, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

Predator vs Pred-Alien in Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

While I really didn't like the red band trailer for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, I have to admit that the new one below is a vast improvement over that one.

New Beowulf Trailer

Written on September 20, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

There's a new trailer out for Beowulf. After seeing 300, I still can't help but feel that the king in this movie is channeling King Leonidas...

And again, based on the Comic-Con footage, the first trailer and now this one, I still cannot fathom how they can cut this down to a PG-13 and have it be any good. It just looks like it should pull out all the stops and go for the R-rating. I mean heck, look at the aforementioned 300: That was rated R and still made bucketloads of money.

Anyway, on to the new trailer.

Juno Trailer: Worth Checking Out

Written on September 17, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

I've been reading about the movie Juno online for a while but hadn't paid it much attention. Seeing more and more written about it I finally decided to check out the trailer for myself and it looks quite good. It's from the same director who did the extremely sharp-witted Thank You For Smoking (which I highly recommend you see!) and this one looks just as good.

Juno is directed by Jason Reitman and stars a whole bunch of folks you'll recognize from smaller films who've done really good work.

Check out the trailer for yourselves:

Official Iron Man Movie Trailer!

Written on September 10, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

[UPDATE: Click here for the new full (and probably final) Iron Man movie trailer!]

Those sneaky buggers at Apple jumped the gun and have already put up the first official trailer for the Iron Man movie!

It wasn't supposed to be online until tomorrow, the 11th and after it aired on television, but oh well, eh? :-)

Following are a bunch of screen grabs from the trailer and then the trailer itself:

Iron Man trailer image

Aliens vs Predator 2 Trailer: Don't Get Your Hopes Up

Written on August 24, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

avp2-trailer.jpgI think the tagline for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem should be:

Abandon Ye All Hope

And I'm not referring to the characters in the movie... I'm talking about the audience.

The first trailer for AVP2 is out, and be warned that this is a "Red Band" trailer. Meaning it is not approved for all audiences, has tons of gore, violence and R-rated language.

New Trailer For Horror Flick: The Signal

Written on August 23, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

The SignalBack in January I had the opportunity to watch the sci-fi/horror movie The Signal, and I really enjoyed it (Click here for my review).

Here's the official description of the movie:

Imagine every cell phone, radio, and television in your city suddenly broadcasting the same mysterious signal over and over. Now imagine these "terminus" transmissions evoking violent, uncontrollable, psychotic chaos from everyone who comes in contact with them.

It's a pretty cool concept and well executed (no pun intended) in the movie.

First Trailer For 10,000 BC

Written on July 11, 2007 by Vic Holtreman

I'd heard about the Roland/Emmerich movie 10,000 BC a while back but didn't think much of it since it seems the films they've made since their no-brainer (but totally fun) popcorn flick Independence Day have been pretty weak. But today the first trailer has been release for their latest opus and as usual for their films it's filled with great visuals.

But will there be anything more to it than that?
