A lot of websites are still in the midst of offering movie fans a preview glance at the upcoming films of 2012. While not quite as extensive (or informative) as our own Screen Rant 2012 movie preview, some of these other sites instead have the fringe benefit of debuting new images and photos from a variety of films, so today we’ve collected 17 new images we thought you SR readers would like to see.

New Images From ‘The Avengers’, ‘The Hobbit’, ‘Prometheus’ & More

There are so many promising titles scheduled to hit theaters in 2012 that only a fraction of them actually made it onto our most anticipated list for the year. The ones we chose included Marvel’s superhero ensemble teamup (The Avengers), director Peter Jackson’s return to Middle-Earth (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), director Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien-verse (Prometheus), a “revisionist” history lesson (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and a genuinely cool-looking new spin on a classic fairy tale (Snow White and the Huntsman).

Today, we have new images (courtesy of USA Today‘s own anticipated 2012 movies list) to show off from all of those titles, along with two other significant 2012 movies: Pixar’s original princess fairy tale flick, Brave, and the sci-fi/comic book threequel Men in Black III.

‘Men in Black 3′ Set Pic: Jemaine Clement As An Alien Easy Rider

One of the more memorable extraterrestrials who popped up in the original Men in Black movie was that of the villainous Bug (Vincent D’Onofrio) whose “Edgar suit” was quite hilariously ill-fitting. The MIB sequel went the opposite route by featuring bad ~~guy~~ gal “Serleena” (Lara Flynn Boyle) whose human disguise was that of a Victoria’s Secret model – but, unfortunately, the end result was considered far less amusing.

The upcoming Men in Black III returns back to the “bizarre human” design of the first film’s villain with Boris: a bike-riding, time-traveling, alien brought to life by New Zealand comedic actor Jemaine Clement (The Flight of the Conchords). But will the end result be better or worse for it?

‘Men in Black 3′ Trailer Teases Time-Travel Plot

Columbia Pictures officially kicked off the marketing blitz for its Summer 2012 3D sequel, Men in Black III, with a pair of letter-based posters that featured the familiar silhouettes of Agent J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones). The studio continues its efforts today, with the release of an official teaser trailer for the sci-fi action/comedy threequel.

If you’ve been following the third MIB movie’s progress, then you know the film has encountered its fair share of production woes, including a drawn-out filming delay due to substantial script reworking, which eventually required an intervention by blockbuster writer David Koepp. Will the final product prove to be worth all that trouble?

‘Men in Black 3′ Posters Feature Agents In Black & White

A slew of heavily-anticipated comic book blockbusters, reboot/sequels (requels), and literary adaptations are slated to hit theaters in 2012 – so, you’re forgiven if it’s slipped your mind that Men in Black III (a.k.a. MIB 3) will also be arriving.

There’s been pretty much nothing of significance to report about the third Men in Black flick since this past summer. However, chances are good that a teaser for the threequel will hit theaters sometime before the end of 2011, possibly screening in front of a franchise title like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows or fellow Sony production, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

However, in the meantime, Sony has unveiled a pair of teaser posters for MIB 3, which once again reunites the “younger and cooler” Agent J (Will Smith) with his curmudgeonly-but-effective mentor, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones). It’s all the more appropriate then that their profiles are ...

‘Men in Black 3′ Set Photos Feature 1960s Vehicles & Alien Hardware

Men in Black III is one of the more troubled blockbuster productions of the past year – probably even more so than X-Men: First Class – having been plagued by rewrites, delays, creative differences, trailer parking fiascos, and actors dropping out (Alec Baldwin fans were sorely disappointed).

Still, it’s hard to argue with the potential of the project, thanks in part to an excellent cast and a fairly interesting – if Austin Powers-esque – concept. Today, we have set photos from the recent New York shoot of MIB3, depicting alien hardware and 1960s vehicles.

Barry Sonnenfeld and company have been shooting down in the New York financial district for weeks now, with extras wearing 1960s mod-style outfits and what have you, but this is the first time we’ve seen any legitimate ...

“What box office slump?” was the question Fast Five asked this weekend. The fifth installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise bested all of its predecessors, including 2009′s record-breaking Fast & Furious, by opening with an estimated $83.6 million gross in the U.S. That helped raise the overall American box office revenue for the weekend – which marked a 50% gain over this same period last year.

Sally Field Onboard For ‘Lincoln’; Michael Stuhlbarg Joins ‘Men In Black 3′

Two respected stars of the screen have landed roles in high-profile, but otherwise drastically different, Hollywood productions. Two time Oscar-winner Sally Field is officially onboard for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, while Michael Stuhlbarg will join the currently-filming threequel Men in Black 3.

Field will play Mary Todd (a.k.a. Mrs. Abraham Lincoln) in Spielberg’s historical drama, after she wraps up her role as Aunt May in The Amazing Spider-Man. Stuhlbarg, meanwhile, will appear in the second Men in Black sequel as “Griffin” – a role that Sharlto Copley almost snagged last year, but ultimately was passed over for.

David Koepp Brought in for ‘Men In Black III’ Screenplay Rewrites

Fans eager to see the return of Agents Jay and Kay in Men In Black 3 have been forced to suffer through a number of let-downs and delays as far back as April of 2009 – when Sony first mentioned developing the sequel.

Men in Black 3 production was halted back in December, to allow Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can) time to work on some key rewrites. Now, it seems as if Sony is bringing in one more writer to work out the kinks in the troubled screenplay – heavy-hitter David Koepp.

Alice Eve Joins ‘Men in Black 3′

There hasn’t been a tremendous amount of positive buzz surrounding the production of Sony’s Men in Black III. The project’s announcement seemed to be met largely with skepticism rather than enthusiasm – and the latest delay in shooting isn’t exactly painting an encouraging picture.

Back in November, we learned that the cast and crew would take a two-month long hiatus right in the middle of filming. The studio attempted to ease concerns by claiming that they were simply waiting for warmer weather, but it was no secret that screenwriter Jeff Nathanson had been brought on board to pen a new draft of Men in Black III‘s script.

Shooting was expected to resume this week, but Nathanson’s script still isn’t ready so production has now been pushed back until March. At this point it ...

‘Men in Black 3′ Production Delayed Again

Sony officials raised a lot of eyebrows last fall when they announced that Men in Black III would go on a production hiatus over the winter holidays, with filming set to resume this week. The studio claims it conceived that unorthodox plan to take advantage of New York tax incentives and the warmer weather for exterior shots – and it’s certainly possible that was the case.

But here’s where things start to get suspicious: production on Men In Black III won’t restart until the end of March, and an anonymous source close to the project says it’s due to some unspecified script issues.

Men In Black was one of the better genre films of the 1990s, perfectly combining Big Willy Style action-comedy with occasionally bizarre science-fiction elements. Then along came Men In Black II, and suddenly I never wanted to watch another Men In Black movie in my life.

Ten years later and Barry Sonnenfeld is making Men In Black III anyway. Starring series regulars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Rip Torn, and newcomers Sharlto Copley (District 9), Jermaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), Emma Thompson, Alec Baldwin, and Josh Brolin (True Grit), the movie has, if nothing else, an excellent cast.

Men In Black 3 has started shooting, and the first set photos of star Will Smith (and his costars) are already popping up online. Not really a surprise, considering that Will Smith is one of those stars paparazzi will burrow tunnels underground just to snap.

What is surprising, however, is the recent news about Men In Black 3‘s script issues and shooting schedule hiatus, which were first reported by the LA Times. It seems that the film will be taking a break fairly soon to smooth out some wrinkles.

Men In Black 3, based on the successful comic book series by Lowell Cunningham, is moving forward full-steam ahead. There’s even a teaser trailer for the film out.

The film’s script was written by scribe Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) and stars returning heroes, “Jay” (Will Smith) and “Kay” (Tommy Lee Jones), who are ready to save the galaxy once more.

Opening with an action-packed, jailbreak sequence, two evil alien humanoids known as “Boris the Biker” (Jemaine Clement) and his main intergalactic squeeze, “Devil Girl,” head for Earth in order to destroy it and kill our hero, Kay, who is creating a defense shield in order to project our planet from being obliterated.

The third installment in the Men In Black series may seem a tad unnecessary in the scheme of things but the fact that so many great famous faces are joining the cast certainly makes it more intriguing than it might have otherwise been.

The last cast member to join Men In Black III was Brit actress Emma Thompson and today we learn from Pajiba that she will be joined by three more famous faces: Alec Baldwin, Gemma Arterton and Sharlto Copley, who are all reportedly in negotiations for the film.

Baldwin will play the MIB boss back in 1969; Arterton (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) will play a secretary in ’69; and finally Copley (District 9) will play, “a fast-talking Yoda-type alien.” ...

The third instillation in the Men In Black series is set to be released in 2012, a full ten years after the release of Men In Black 2. Regardless of how you feel about Marc Webb’s untitled Spider-Man reboot or Men in Black 3, there’s no turning back now – both films are scheduled to start filming later this year. SuperHero Hype has learned that Men in Black 3 will begin shooting in New York this September and the Spider-Man reboot will go before cameras in December… in Los Angeles.

Spidey’s change in location is surprising but purists shouldn’t be alarmed – it doesn’t mean that’s where the story is set. New ‘Men in Black 3′ Plot Details Emerge

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won’t be back in black until Summer 2012, but JoBlo has already gotten an early look at the plot of their new 3D reunion, Men in Black 3.

Since the news broke that Jemaine Clement will play the baddie in the film, we’ve known that Men in Black 3 would involve a time travel plot of sorts. It now seems that Yaz (Clement) will be the sole villain in the flick and is described as being “a nightmarish biker who looks like Dennis Hopper and Satan [who is] not meant to be particularly funny.” Why exactly the nerdy comedian was cast in the role and not someone like Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2) or Danny Trejo (Machete), I don’t understand.
