He-Man and Machete Land At Sony

He-Man and Machete Land At Sony

Wow, Sony has been busy as of late – they have acquired two fairly “hot” projects, the new live-action He-Man/Masters of the Universe movie, as well as the Robert Rodriguez faux-trailer-turned-full-length-feature, Machete.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Screen Rant reported that the live-action Masters of the Universe had left Warner Bros. and shed producer Joel Silver. The reason for this was reportedly because of a disagreement between WB/Silver and toy makers Mattel, about the direction the film was going in.

Early Review of ‘Machete’ Script

For the last two years, Robert Rodriguez fans have been clamoring for the full-length version of his faux-trailer Machete. Now, thanks to the guys at Latino Review, we finally have our first look at the movie’s script.

Apparently, the plot of Machete will focus on Danny Trejo cutting people up real good with big old knives (no surprise there). More specifically, Machete will have lots of double crosses, sexy women, and, oh yeah, a political assassination of some kind. Latino Review’s guest reviewer (from the website ScriptShadow) was less than impressed with the script, saying it’s “Too silly. Too Simplistic. Too Dumb.” Overall, he gave it a “generous passing grade of C-.” Here’s an excerpt of his review.

Star-Studded Cast of Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ Confirmed!

We told a few weeks ago that Robert Rodriguez was eyeing a pretty wild collection of big-name actors for his upcoming feature-length adaptation of Machete, the faux-trailer that played before Grindhouse.

Some of the names we mentioned included Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez and even Lindsay Lohan.

Well, I can tell you now that every single one of those names mentioned above have been confirmed for Machete, alongside some equally mind-blowing names you’ll have to read to believe!

‘Machete’ Casting: Rodriguez Confirmed, Role For Lohan?

While talking to MTV recently, Robert Rodriguez spoke about his upcoming full-length version of the Grindhouse fake trailer, Machete. Although he understandably didn’t give that much away, he did speak about the casting for the film where he revealed two things: the previously rumored Michelle Rodriguez definitely is in the film, and Lindsay Lohan (yes, that Lindsay Lohan) has a role in the film if she wants it.

Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ May Have Its Cast

Bloody Disgusting recently got a hot tip from one of their regular and reliable sources, which claims that Robert Rodriguez’s full-length version of the Grindhouse faux trailer, Machete, may have snagged part of its cast. The Playlist is also reporting similar casting rumors. It goes without saying that Danny Trejo will be back as the titular, blade-wielding Machete - but who is rumored to be joining him? I give you four names: Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez and Jonah Hill.

No, you didn’t just imagine reading that…

Trejo Ready For ‘Machete’ – But Isn’t ‘Expendable’

Trejo Ready For ‘Machete’ – But Isn’t ‘Expendable’

Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, a feature length film based on the mock trailer that premiered during Grindhouse, is set to start filming in five weeks, as learned by website Gordon and the Whale during an interview with the star of the film, professional Mexican badass, Danny Trejo.

While Trejo let it be known that Machete was on the way, he also dropped an equally bad bit of news: despite widespread reports to the contrary, Danny Trejo has not been cast in Sylvester Stallone’s action flick throwback, The Expendables.

Robert Rodriguez Brings In Help To Direct ‘Machete’ Movie

The last we heard about the fake trailer from the exploitation-fest Grindhouse known as Machete was that it’s definitely being made into a movie. Robert Rodriguez has said the script is already done and they’re gearing up to getting it made. This was both surprising and relieving for us fans out there who have been dying to see a full movie version of it ever since Grindhouse came out.
