Game Of Thrones Author & Damon Lindelof Feud Over ‘Lost’ Ending

George R. R. Martin, author of the Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels and a producer for the upcoming HBO adaptation Game of Thrones, attacked the ending of national TV phenomenon Lost in an interview with The New Yorker.

The author echoed the sentiments of many Lost fans, claiming that the finale failed to pay off on the series’ many twists and turns. Martin stated that he hopes the ending for his Song of Ice and Fire novels – and one can only assume Game of Thrones as well – doesn’t disappoint in the same manner.

As we edge ever closer to the biggest movie award ceremony around, the Oscars, we have another set of nominations to mull over: The 37th Annual Saturn Awards.

As the story of Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Kate and the rest of the island’s infamous inhabitants came to an end, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse not only had to come to grips with moving on from one of the most popular series in recent television history, but they also had to deal with the mixed response from fans to the Lost series finale.

‘Lost’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Dexter’ Top Most Pirated Shows of 2010

As the 2010 retrospectives roll by, one of the more fascinating statistics out there is online downloads. We examined the top 10 pirated movies of 2010 last week, and now BitTorrent observer TorrentFreak has released its list of the most pirated elevision shows. There’s not a lot of surprises, but the sheer volume of illicit downloads is impressive.

Network dramas Lost and Heroes take the top two spots, while cable smash-hit Dexter finishes in the money. The latter doesn’t surprise, since Dexter is only available on premium channel Showtime or pay services like iTunes and Netflix. But the top two shows, together totaling more than ten million downloads, are shown on free broadcast TV in the U.S. on ABC and NBC respectively. They’re also shown for free on both the network ...

2010 was a fantastic year in home video releases. Some of the most revered classics finally made their way to the Blu-ray format, while other titles were given a more in-depth re-release. Without question, 2010 was proof that Blu-ray is here to stay.

If you have a Blu-ray player or get one over the holidays, we’ve got a list of the titles that are must-haves for your home video collection. These Blu-rays make our list for a variety of reasons; Some are incomprehensibly comprehensive collections like Lost: The Complete Collection and The Alien Anthology. Others are beautifully remastered classics like Psycho and The Exorcist. When the juggernaut that was Lost finally came to an end, many fans were left unfulfilled by the conclusion. Unfulfilled has unfortunately become a running trend with popular television series - The Sopranos serving as the most poignant example.

To that end, Lost producer Damon Lindelof has gained a new perspective on why fans might have been disappointed – by experiencing his own frustration with one of his favorite franchises, Harry Potter.

‘Lost’ Star Jorge Garcia Joins J.J. Abrams Fox Pilot ‘Alcatraz’

After six years of battling time paradoxes on Lost, it appears that Jorge Garcia still can’t get enough of that island life, as it has just been announced that he will be returning to television in J.J. Abrams’ new pilot on Fox, entitled Alcatraz.

When we first reported on Abrams shopping around Alcatraz with fellow Lost executive producer Elizabeth Sarnoff, nothing was revealed about the project or what fans could expect. Now, we know that the series will center on a group of Alcatraz prisoners and guards who went missing thirty years ago, only to mysteriously reappear in the present day.

2010 Scream Awards Will Pay Tribute To ‘Lost’

It is becoming a bit of a tradition for the Spike TV Scream Awards to honor popular science fiction shows that have recently gone off the air. Last year the award show reunited the cast of Syfy’s epic space opera Battlestar Galactica. The show even included a replica of a Cylon raider in the tribute, which gave the event a highly appreciated, extra injection of geek love.

This year Spike brings together several of the cast members of ABC’s massively popular Lost; or as we know them, the survivors of Oceanic flight 815.

Abrams Shopping ‘Odd Jobs’ with ‘Lost’ Stars Terry O’Quinn & Michael Emerson

While Lost may be over, Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn are not done working together. The two Losties are preparing a new show, also produced by J.J. Abrams, in which they will portray former black-ops agents.

We’ve known for a while that this show was in development and details have slowly emerged. The rough concept of the new show, tentatively called Odd Jobs, focuses on “the age and frailty of the actors,” as the Associate Press claimed in an older article on the matter.

The chemistry between Emerson and O’Quinn was always positive within Lost. Behind-the-scenes footage proved the two became great friends over the show’s 6-year stand. With their own show, it will be great to see the actors continue to bond in ...

Last week’s home video release of Lost: The Complete Collection should keep fans of the acclaimed TV series satisfied for quite some time. Even if you’ve got the first five seasons, there are plenty of new features in the collection to enjoy.

We’ve spent countless hours watching the features, as well as scanning the limited edition packaging with our handy black light, and have compiled an exhaustive list of our impressions.

It’s difficult to be disappointed in a complete collection, especially one for arguably the most complex, layered show in television history. ABC has brought us fantastic bonus features with every DVD and Blu-ray release for the last six years and Lost: The Complete Collection is the sum of everybody’s hard work in one, massive nostalgic package.

2010 Scream Award Nominations

We’re now into awards season once more (time flies, doesn’t it?), with the Emmys having come and gone already. Now we have the annual 2010 Scream Awards which celebrates the more fan-friendly type of movies and TV shows that the Oscars and the Emmys might not honor. And the great thing is YOU get to vote for the winners!

Last year they honored such fan-favorites as Star Trek, Watchmen and Fringe with nominations, which I’m sure pleased many of you. Even if they still nominate some questionable movies, there’s no doubting that for the most part, the Scream Awards are a lot more in line with the majority of the movie going audience who pay to see movies purely to be entertained.

The Rockford Files Reboot not ‘Lost’ with Josh Holloway?

Reboots are as popular among television studios as they are among movie studios, as evidenced by Hawaii 5-0 starting this fall and Charlie’s Angels rumored to be getting a TV reboot as well. Even though a few rebooted shows have already failed – like Knight Rider and Bionic Woman – that hasn’t slowed NBC Studio Execs’ enthusiasm regarding a reboot for The Rockford Files.

The last we heard about The Rockford Files was that the Dermot Mulroney pilot co-starring Alan Tudyk and Beau Bridges had been cancelled after the suits at NBC watched it and thought “UGH!” (I’m paraphrasing). It would seem that even though the first attempt at rebooting the show failed, NBC is still high on making The Rockford Files happen.

Assuming Mulroney is now out of the question to play the lead of Jim Rockford ...

It’s been three months since ABC’s Lost came to an emotional close and a plethora of “Losties” from all over the world had to figure out what they were going to do with their lives (some people were that serious about the show).

But wait a minute, Lost season 6 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray today! That means fans can officially revisit the whole series from start to finish.

One devoted Lost fan, “Mark” over at Dark UFO, has already been over and over all the episodes of the show, meticulously noting down all the questions raised and tallying up exactly how many of them were answered. Just think for a minute how much work that is…

Michael Emerson Talks ‘Lost’ Leak & TV Series with Terry O’Quinn

If you’re a fan of Lost you’ve probably put-in your order for the Complete Collection on Blu-ray and, if you’re like me, are hopeful for at least one deleted scene featuring a bit of Ben Linus/John Locke banter.

However, should the Lost special features fail to deliver in this particular area of interest, it sounds as if the actors themselves (Michael Emerson & Terry O’Quinn) might have something up their sleeves. The Emmy-award-winning actors are shopping around a new TV project, and while it’s not an extension of the Lost universe, it would see the twosome partnered on screen.

Intriguing Teaser Clip for the Lost Epilogue

Lost fans who are hungry for more answers will surely be aware by now that “The End” wasn’t really the end (at least in terms of questions being answered/unanswered), as there is going to be a 12-minute Lost epilogue included on the season 6 and complete series DVD/Blu-rays. But you won’t have to wait until late August to see that epilogue: a one-minute teaser clip has been released to wet your appetite.

Although some – myself included – were really satisfied with the way Lost ended, others weren’t too happy that the show didn’t tie up every single loose end.

Rumor Patrol: Damon Lindelof Rewriting Alien Prequel

Whether you were a fan or not of the way Lost ended (for the record, I’m in the “loved it” camp), you can’t deny the sheer scope and depth that the show had throughout its six-year run. One of those people who was right there from the inception to “The End” was Lost writer and executive producer, Damon Lindelof.

Lindelof has already made the jump from TV to movies with the Jon Favreau-directed Cowboys & Aliens and he’s currently writing the sequel to the Star Trek reboot alongside Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (they also co-wrote Cowboys & Aliens with him). However, Lindelof may be adding another Alien film to his credits.
