While this week features two classics finally reaching the Blu-ray format, it also has the Disney blockbuster TRON: Legacy and the awful Little Fockers.

But there are definitely reasons to spend some good money this week, especially if you want the 3D home video of TRON: Legacy.

There are some intriguing releases we won’t go in-depth on like the Blu-ray release of the original Arthur and Arthur 2, hitting the home video market just before the Russell Brand remake hits theaters April 8th. There is also a Blu-ray re-release of Fiddler on the Roof in honor of its 40th Anniversary.

The Last Airbender Leads 2011 Razzie Award ‘Winners’

It’s that time of year again, when the Oscars reward various filmmakers, films, and actors for their extraordinary cinematic work, and the Razzies punish various filmmakers, films, and actors for their especially horrendous cinematic work.

Last night, the 31st Annual Razzie Awards were held at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theater. To no one’s surprise, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender was the big “winner” (or maybe “loser” is more appropriate here) of the night, taking home the most Razzies. Alas, it wasn’t a clean sweep, as Sex and the City 2 took home several awards that Airbender was nominated for.

Nominees for the 31st Annual Razzie Awards have been announced and M. Night Shyamalan’s much-derided TV show adaptation, The Last Airbender, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse are the leaders in the contest to be officially ordained the “best of the worst” in 2010.

There are No Strings Attached for Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher at the box office; Will Gluck asks About Last Night; learn about Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho; Ben Affleck ponders his next film as director and Josh Lucas takes flight for Clint Eastwood.

Box Office

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher’s No Strings Attached topped the box office over the weekend with a decent $20.3 million debut. The R-rated comedy surpassed the start of recent adult-themed comedies, a major factor in this was more than likely Portman’s Black Swan publicity blitz.

The Green Hornet dropped to second place after grossing a smidgen over $18 million. The super hero film has now upped its cume to over $63 million.

Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: January 16th 2011

This week:

The Green Hornet stings the top of the box office; Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg say I Hate You Dad; Robert Downey Jr. talks sequels and Sherlock Holmes; Jeffrey Dean Morgan opens the Dibbuk Box for Sam Raimi; Nick Stahl is under Locke & Key and get ready for an Alien Sleeper Cell.

Box Office

Seth Rogen’s often delayed The Green Hornet (read our review here) will top the box office over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. The film which also stars Jay Chou as sidekick Kato should pull in an estimated $40.5 million over the holiday weekend ($34 million for the three days). While it’s not a disastrous result, it is a bit on the low side for a $100 million plus budgeted superhero film. It’ll be interesting to see how this holds up in the weeks to come.

The box office shows True Grit, while Season of the Witch fails to cast a spell over audiences; Will Smith and Brett Ratner are Wheeler Dealers; Diego Luna and Lukas Haas get caught with Contraband; we travel back to the 60s using Pan Am and when we get there we meet a Playboy in the Magic City; Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and John Goodman are Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Eminem commits Random Acts of Violence.

The Coen brothers and Jeff Bridges have shown some true grit and determination with their latest effort… er… True Grit. Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: January 1st 2011

This week:

The Little Fockers show True Grit at the box office; Andrew Garfield goes from Spider-Man to Michael Mann in Capa alongside Gemma Arterton; Saw creators open Insidious on April Fool’s Day and Total Recall moves from Mars to Toronto.

Box Office

It was a close race over the weekend for the number one spot but it looks like Little Fockers will top the chart with an estimated $26.3 million for a total gross of $103 million. It appears that people are just too busy at Christmas to read reviews. That can be the only reason for the Fockers having two weeks at the top, right?

Jeff Bridges was in the runner-up position with True Grit. The Coen Brothers film upped its domestic total to $86.8 million after grossing $24.5 million over the weekend, giving the pair their highest grossing film ever. More gold awaits.

Did you regret spending money on an awful movie this year? Are you aching to share your thoughts on the head-shaking, face-slapping, run-for-the-door flops of 2010? This is your chance – but not until we give you our choices of the 10 worst movies of 2010.

The box office had its fair share of behemoths this year, but not all were well-received by fans and critics. Poor movies come in all different styles – some are filled with explosions and fancy CGI meant to distract you from the weak plot, while others beg for laughs with humorless jokes. Those two types of theatrical failures, and more, are accounted for in our list.

The Focker family were the box office champions over the weekend. Little Fockers,the third film in the “Meet The…” franchise banked an estimated $34 million over the weekend (read our review). The Ben Stiller starrer has now scored $48 million since its launch last week. The grosses aren’t amazing for this pricey comedy, but it should be profitable in the end for Universal.

Little Fockers is one of the most disappointing and pitiful movies of 2010. The first film was a welcome addition to the plethora of awkward family dinner comedies, but Little Fockers is not only a cheap excuse for a threequel, but a cheap excuse for a film in general.

Director Paul Weitz steps into a franchise that has more than overstayed its welcome, regardless of its big box office numbers. Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) and Gaylord “Greg” Focker (Ben Stiller) are at it yet again in next month’s Little Fockers, the third entry in the highly-successful Meet the Parents franchise.

A second trailer is out for Little Fockers and it features everything we’ve come to associate with this series: (predictable) puns involving Greg’s surname, gross-out physical comedy gags, and awkward sexual humor.

While neither Meet the Parents or Meet the Fockers were critical darlings, both were hits at the box office and grossed a combined total of nearly $850 million worldwide in theaters. Dustin Hoffman Coming Back to Save ‘Little Fockers’ [Updated]

[Update: It's been confirmed: Hoffman will be returning.]

It seems as though Universal Pictures’ forthcoming comedy sequel Little Fockers is in a tiny bit of trouble. The film, which is currently in post-production, has allegedly not been testing well, and because of this reshoots are needed. The extent of these reshoots is debatable, but the word on the street is that Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman may be joining the cast in an attempt to make the comedy…well, funnier.

Deadline recently ran with a story saying that the film has been in trouble since the cameras started rolling, and at one point Universal even considered replacing director Paul Weitz with producer-writer John Hamburg. Jokes about the “innately hilarious” last name of Greg Focker (played by Ben Stiller) never felt more tired than they do in the international trailer for the third film in the Meet the Parents series, Little Fockers.

Little Fockers finds Robert De Niro once again in the role of Jack Byrnes, Greg’s domineering father-in-law. The aging Jack is ready to pass on his “head patriach” duties to the hapless Greg and make him the new – you guessed it – Godfocker. But with the whole family getting together to celebrate the Focker twins’ birthday, Greg once again finds himself unable to maintain even the semblance of dignity when his relatives are in the room.

Movie Poster Roundup: Fockers, Sucker Punch, Saw 3D, & Resident Evil

Over the past few days we’ve seen new posters for Little Fockers, Sucker Punch, Saw 3D, and Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Now, we’ve rounded them up into one convenient post for your viewing pleasure.

First up is the international poster for Little Fockers, which debuted over at Empire. The new poster indicates that the title of the film will be Meet the Parents: Little Fockers; however, I’d be willing to bet the longer title is only for our friends across the pond – similar to American Wedding (which became American Pie 3: The Wedding).

The poster is pretty underwhelming – not to mention a pretty lousy Photoshop job. Stiller doesn’t really look like he’s making eye contact with DeNiro – like he’s looking at something just over his father-in-law’s shoulder. Without the inclusion of the title characters (the little Fockers) ...

Teaser Trailer For ‘Little Fockers’

The first teaser for this winter’s entry in the (for me at least) inexplicably popular Meet the Parents franchise, Little Fockers, has hit the Net and finds the tragically-named Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) once again unable to maintain even the semblance of dignity when his father-in-law Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) is around.

Speaking of dignity, it would seem that Dustin Hoffman has regained a bit of his and selected to not reprise his role as Greg’s father from Meet the Fockers – though from what I’ve gathered, he may still make a cameo appearance sometime in Little Fockers as well. However, Barbara Streisand will return to play Greg’s eccentric mother once more, alongside Meet the Parents stars Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson, and newcomers Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, and Harvey Keitel.
