Anyone who didn’t think that Inception wouldn’t open at number one this weekend was very silly indeed. It wasn’t that the film wouldn’t open big, the question was “how big?” -  $62 million is the answer. The Christopher Nolan directed film has won itself awesome reviews and strong word-of-mout, meaning that the film should have very impressive legs – if the average Joe isn’t put off by the complex plot. However, the marketing of “James Bond meets The Matrix” would imply that audiences will come.

The Leonardo DiCaprio film shouldn’t have a problem though, ...

Last week’s home video releases were unimpressive (apart from Saving Private Ryan, one of the best Blu-rays I’ve ever seen). This week in the Breakdown we’ve got some goodies, both old and new. From parodies to a dark and gloomy Mel Gibson, there is a bit of everything.

But, as usual of late, the new releases are weak and we must rely again on Blu-ray transfers to satisfy our weekly trip to the store. In fact, the new releases totaled an 8.5 out of a possible 15 in Screen Rant reviews.

A handful of Blu-ray two-packs come out this week, including a Clive Owen thrill pack containing  Inside Man and Children of Men. So if you want your discounted double feature packages, this should be a good one for you. But you won’t ...

Before all of The Karate Kid remake haters swarm this post and spam it full of negativity and seething rage, I’d like you to take to the time to read what I have to say and what the video below explains.

Never in my illustrious 11-month movie news career have I witnessed so much misplaced malevolence aimed at one film. A few months back, when The Karate Kid teaser trailer dropped , our comment section was filled with people bemoaning everything from “Jaden Smith can’t act” and “Jaden Smith is too young” to “This is China not Japan so it can’t be called Karate Kid”. A couple of misguided souls even took umbrage with Smith’s race (although those types of ridiculous comments serve no purpose and should be ignored ...

When they announced they were remaking the (classic movie?) The Karate Kid I was, like most of you (I presume), really quite annoyed. Again Hollywood was looking backwards instead of looking forwards and remaking something from decades ago, trying to modernize it for today’s audience.

The first trailer for The Karate Kid didn’t impress me (the hip-hop music thrown in there I particularly hated) and even though the international trailer was an improvement, it still didn’t make me excited for the movie. Sadly, this third theatrical trailer doesn’t place it on my most anticipated list, but I have to say it’s a vast improvement over the previous trailers.
