Harry Knowles at Ain’t It Cool News put up an interview from a while back on the set of The Wolfman with director Joe Johnston. In the interview they discussed a bunch of his previous works and a bit about Jurassic Park 4 for which he is attached to helm.

This was before it was announced that Johnston would be directing The First Avenger: Captain America so unfortunately, that topic does not come up.

In the interview, the topic of special effects (the right mix of practical and digital) came up and Johnston gave the example of the first Jurassic Park and how it still holds up today as something special in that regard. Shortly thereafter, Harry brought the conversation back to Jurassic Park to ask some questions about the widely speculated fourth installment of the franchise. Joe Johnston of course, directed Jurassic Park 3.

Oscar-nominated producer Frank Marshall has recently spoken with both Coming Soon and Empire about the projects he has on the horizon. The Indiana Jones, Bourne and Sixth Sense producer has been in the business for over 30 years and is still going strong today, continually adding to a (mostly) solid resume.

The biggest area of interest on Marshall’s to-do list is the next Indiana Jones installment (which Shia LaBeouf recently said Steven Spielberg had “cracked the story,” for); in speaking with Empire about Indiana Jones 5, Marshall didn’t go so far as to say the movie has officially been greenlit, but says that the project could get to the concept/script development stage soon:

Although it was never one of those blockbuster sequels for which people were literally counting the days until release, I figured audiences would nonetheless still flock to see Jurassic Park 4.

That is once Universal Pictures got around to making it.

For years now there have been rumors of a fourth Jurassic Park film. The first three have made an absolute killing at the box office, so it’s quite surprising that there hasn’t been a great deal of movement on a new installment.

I watched the first (and best) Jurassic Park recently and I was surprised at how well it looks, almost fifteen years later. Fifteen years, man do I feel old. The Lost World was a terrible film, and the book is even worse. I hope that to this day, Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton feel ashamed for being behind such terrible work. Jurassic Park III wasn’t bad, but the ending seemed to be missing. It’s almost as if Joe Johnston decided to drop a reel, Grindhouse style.

Talk about beating a dead horse (or is that milking a dead cow?)… The rumor (one can only hope this is a rumor) is that Jurassic Park 4 is moving forward and that in this sequel the government will train the dinosaurs to use weapons.

I kid you not, at least accoring to Bloody-Disgusting.com. They also said that Laura Dern will be back but that Sam Neill won’t (good call, Sam).

I guess that a velociraptor or a T-Rex just isn’t dangerous enough on it’s own.
