Movie News Grab Bag

Hey gang… man, one of the downsides of being a computer geek is getting sucked into the back-end stuff when redesigning a website. I’ve been so busy trying to fine tune thing (thanks for the suggestions!) and trying to fix bugs that I haven’t been doing any movie news coverage.

So here’s my little attempt at a bit of catch up on what’s popped up over the last few days.

- There’s a new muppet movie coming and supposedly it will be faithful to what we’ve come to know and love about the little fellas. – Ain’t It Cool

- Transformers 2 has a title: Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. I can’t wait (yeah, that was sarcasm). – Superhero Hype

Review: Jumper

By Vic Holtreman

Short version: How can such an interesting concept end up as such a boring movie? One reason: Hayden Christensen.

I must be feeling generous with this Jumper review – despite the fact I’m giving it only 2.5 stars, that’s a rave compared to other movie reviews of this film.

I had really hoped this would be one of those little movies that turned out to be great, especially since I knew it was from Doug Limon, the director of The Bourne Identity and Mr & Mrs Smith. Those two films would look great on any director’s resume.

And then we had the screenplay, written by Jim Uhls, who wrote the script for the amazing film Fight Club and David S. Goyer whose written great stuff like Batman Begins and Dark City.

You’d think that this movie couldn’t miss with all that talent behind the camera… but unfortunately you’d be wrong.

New Jumper Poster

New Jumper Poster

It looks like the marketing is starting to build for the upcoming sci fi flick Jumper. Of course you never know until you actually see the movie, but this is looking pretty interesting and like it could be cool.

I’m not going to fault Hayden Christensen for his performance in the Star Wars movies – that’s all on George Lucas as far as I’m concerned. So I’m wiping the slate and assuming that he is capable of doing a good job here. Also, remember that the guy behind Mr and Mrs Smith and The Bourne Identity is behind this and that gets it points for sure.

The poster is below.

New Jumper Trailer

“There are always consequences.”

Samuel L. Jackson says that in the upcoming movie Jumper, which also stars Hayden Christensen. It’s one of those lines that are twice as cool when spoken by Jackson as they would be be anyone else.

Jumper is about a young man (Christensen) who discovers he has the ability to teleport. At first it’s a suprise, but then he views it as a gift giving him almost unlimited freedom. Of course, as Sam Jackson states above, there are always consequences.

The teaser trailer came out about two months ago, and today we have a brand new full trailer for Jumper.

Will Jumper Be A Cool Little Sci Fi Flick?

Will Jumper Be A Cool Little Sci Fi Flick?

I’ve been reading about a movie coming soon that stars Hayden “I was a lousy Anakin Skywalker” Christensen and Samuel L. “I’m a badass in every single movie” Jackson. The movie is called Jumper, and here’s the concept for the film:

A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between “Jumpers” and those who have sworn to kill them.

At first glance the description didn’t do much for me, but the trailer is kind of cool. Check it out below (thanks to IGN).
