Many movie fans consider 2012 to be the year of the superhero movie – what with The Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man and Dark Knight Rises all hitting screens – but in actuality, sci-fi is going to be having its time to shine at the movies this year. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus (watch the latest trailer) headlines a year packed with high-concept sci-fi offerings, and today we’ve rounded up new promo materials from three of the more anticipated ones.

Scroll down for new extended clips from the action thriller Lockout (produced by Fifth Element director Luc Besson) and the campy ‘Nazi invaders from space’ comedy, Iron Sky. We also have new images of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the time travel mind-bender, Looper.

‘Iron Sky’ Trailer & Poster: Nazi Space Invaders vs. President Palin

Finnish director Timo Vuorensola’s Iron Sky has been trying to get off the ground for years now, and that long road through development is almost at an end. Today we have a new Iron Sky official trailer and poster to share, and all things considered, the film still looks like a ton of fun.

If you haven’t heard of it before, Iron Sky is a sci-fi comedy that takes an alternate take on history, in which the Nazi’s launched spaceships from a secret Antarctic base towards the end of WWII, in order to hide out on the dark side of the Moon. While on their lunar retreat, the Nazi faction builds a fleet of ships for their eventual invasion of Earth – an invasion that comes to fruition in the futuristic setting of 2018.

The Second Official ‘Iron Sky’ Trailer

A full year ago I wrote about a unique movie which really got me excited. That movie was the Finnish film Iron Sky, a dark science fiction comedy that plays with Finland’s history of being oppressed by Sweden, Russia and the Nazis.

Iron Sky is brought to us from the creators of the Star Trek spoof, Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning and tells the story of Lunar Nazies coming back to Earth to exact revenge. You read that correctly. Iron Sky is about Nazis setting up camp on the moon during WWII and preparing to return home and take back what they believe is theirs.

We showed you the concept art and the Iron Sky teaser trailer last year and now a new Iron Sky trailer has just been released.

Iron Sky: Lunar Nazis Get Funding For War Effort!

About a month ago, Screen Rant reported on a film project titled Iron Sky for the very first time. We had a teaser trailer for the film, a couple of one-sheets featuring some of the actors of the cast as well as some amazing concept art images.

The only issue regarding the film over the last few years was acquiring the necessary financing to get it made and now it looks like that’s no longer a problem.

Iron Sky is a Finnish film from Blind Spot Pictures, the folks who created the Star Trek spoof, Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning and is described as a dark science fiction comedy that plays with Finland’s history of being oppressed by Sweden, Russia and the Nazis.

You may have heard of Nazi Zombies, but you have you heard of Lunar Nazis?!

Prepare yourselves, for this is going to be awesome: Iron Sky is a Finnish film from the folks who created the Star Trek spoof, Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning and is described as a dark science fiction comedy that plays with Finland’s history of being oppressed by Sweden, Russia and the Nazis.
