‘Hostel 3′ Begins Shooting in August

It looks like another Las Vegas bachelor party is going to take an unexpected turn. However, something tells me that this one isn’t going to end like The Hangover. Despite Hostel 2′s lackluster performance, Hostel 3 will begin shooting (and stabbing and gouging and slaying) next month.

Eli Roth, the director of the first two Hostel films, is set to produce – an interesting development considering how vocal he was in the past about not wanting to be involved with another Hostel film. At one point Roth even noted how many terrible third installments there are in popular franchises (guess he didn’t read our feature on the best movie threequels). I wonder what changed his mind?

Eli Roth NOT Involved With ‘Hostel 3′

Eli Roth may have made his first proper acting appearance in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds recently, but he’s still very much involved with a lot of producing and directing projects. But will he be involved with a third film in his successful Hostel franchise? Well, from the man himself comes the word that he’s not involved with it in any way.

In talking with ComingSoon.net (thanks to ShockTillYouDrop), Roth said that he’s happy to have made the first two Hostel movies, and quite obviously glad of the success he had with them (particularly the first), but he’s not going to be doing the planned straight-to-DVD Hostel: Part III:

Hostel 3 Will Go On Without Eli Roth, but who’s listening?

It’s been announced that the Hostel 3 project is moving forward under Lionsgate’s watch, regardless of how many times Eli Roth has said he’s all tortured out.

Hostel I and II made their mark on our now damaged psyche and Lionsgate looks like it’s trying to ride the momentum from the first two films and head right on into a third film, but Eli Roth will not be, as far as anyone can tell, be part of this third chapter of horror. Well, “momentum” might be too strong a word since the second film brought in a whopping $35 million.
