‘Heroes’ Stars To Voice Wolverine & Iron Man Anime

WonderCon is happening and from it, we’re getting the latest superhero news in movies and television. Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb was on hand at the event and had some special casting news to share with fans yesterday about the America versions of their hit anime Wolverine and Iron Man cartoons.

As it turns out, the two Marvel heroes will be voiced by two literal ‘Heroes.’ That is, two stars of NBC’s done-and-over-it Heroes series.

Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia, who played brothers Nathan Petrelli and Peter Petrelli respectively in Heroes‘ four season run will each voice a lead for the anime series. Pasdar will voice Tony Stark/Iron Man and Ventimiglia will play everyone’s favorite adamantium-enhanced mutant, Wolverine.

‘Heroes’ Alum Adrian Pasdar Joins NBC Workplace Comedy

Adrian Pasdar, most recently seen as the gravity-defying Nathan Petrelli on Tim Kring’s Heroes, will take his next role in the as yet untitled workplace sitcom pilot from Kari Lizer (The New Adventures of Old Christine).

At present, all that is known about the pilot is that it surrounds Mary Leahy, played by the already-cast Sarah Paulson (The Spirit, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) who, despite a miserable track record with her personal relationships, runs a company that helps people transition through unanticipated career problems and layoffs.

‘Heroes’ Creator Tim Kring Producing New Pilot For Fox

Fox announced Tuesday that Heroes creator and showrunner Tim Kring will return to television with a new pilot. Touch follows the story of a father and his young son, who develops precognative abilities in addition to being deaf and autistic.

Not much else is known about Touch at the moment, though Kring’s involvement alone should peak the interest of sci-fi fans. Kring wrote the pilot, and given his history of heavy involvement will probably continue writing if the show makes it to air. Heroes alumnus Katherine Pope and Fox executive Peter Chernin are the only other names attached to the project at the moment, both sharing executive producer duties with Kring.

‘Lost’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Dexter’ Top Most Pirated Shows of 2010

As the 2010 retrospectives roll by, one of the more fascinating statistics out there is online downloads. We examined the top 10 pirated movies of 2010 last week, and now BitTorrent observer TorrentFreak has released its list of the most pirated elevision shows. There’s not a lot of surprises, but the sheer volume of illicit downloads is impressive.

Network dramas Lost and Heroes take the top two spots, while cable smash-hit Dexter finishes in the money. The latter doesn’t surprise, since Dexter is only available on premium channel Showtime or pay services like iTunes and Netflix. But the top two shows, together totaling more than ten million downloads, are shown on free broadcast TV in the U.S. on ABC and NBC respectively. ‘Heroes’ TV Movie Won’t Be Happening

As Summer 2010 kicked off, we brought the news that NBC was working with Heroes creator Tim Kring on a way to provide closure for the cancelled superhero drama series.

At the time it was speculated that the closure would come in the form of a Heroes TV movie, which would send our favorite (and not so favorite) super-powered friend in the proper way; however, according to EW, the plans for the Heroes TV movie have been scrapped, and the season four finale will be the official ending to the saga.

We’re now into awards season once more (time flies, doesn’t it?), with the Emmys having come and gone already. Now we have the annual 2010 Scream Awards which celebrates the more fan-friendly type of movies and TV shows that the Oscars and the Emmys might not honor. And the great thing is YOU get to vote for the winners!

Last year they honored such fan-favorites as Star Trek, Watchmen and Fringe with nominations, which I’m sure pleased many of you. Even if they still nominate some questionable movies, there’s no doubting that for the most part, the Scream Awards are a lot more in line with the majority of the movie going audience who pay to see movies purely to be entertained.

This week, when NBC announced their 2010/2011 primetime schedule, the news that every Heroes fan was dreading became reality – the series was canceled.

Considering the series has been on a decline since the second season, the announcement of Heroes cancelation was inevitable. Although, creator Tim Kring and NBC have both commented that while the series has technically been canceled, Heroes is NOT over.

On Monday, NBC is set to announce their new fall line-up. At that time, many are expecting Heroes to be renewed for a half-season order of 13 episodes in order to wrap-up the series and provide closure for the (few) fans that have stuck by the show for the past 4 years. But, have plans changed? Is Heroes all but canceled?

Recently, NBC announced the pick-up of 5 new series for next season. It’s been reported that the network heads are so confident with their new fall line-up that they are contemplating either canceling Heroes, or turning the show into one-time television movie event.

Avatar Leads 2010 Saturn Awards Nominations

Today marks the day when the nominations for the 36th Annual Saturn Awards are given out. In case you’re not familiar with them, they are given out by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films (they also include TV shows and stage productions) so as a reader of Screen Rant I believe they’re right up your alley .

The awards will be given out on June 24th, so we have over four months to speculate and choose the nominees we’d give the award to. The categories range from the usual Best Film (separated into Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction etc) to Best DVD release and Best DVD Special Edition.

TV Status Report: Which Shows Are In & Out

While we’re nowhere near the new fall season and most pilots have yet to be filmed, the networks are already looking at their current lineup to see where they can trim the fat. While most decisions have to be finalized, people talk, news is announced and assumptions can be made.

Some shows are no-brainers to renew (House), while others have already been canceled… and then there are the shows that sit on the fence; ones that are referred to in the industry as “being on the bubble.” Today we have an update on the status of some of those “bubble” shows.

With such a long list of shows, let’s stop with all the small-talk and get right to it. What’s the fate of your favorite show?

‘Heroes’ Finale Bombs In The Ratings

I must have not been the only person that forgot that the fourth season finale of Heroes was on this past Monday as NBC’s superhero drama brought in horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE, ratings. How horrible? How does 4.4 million people sound?

In comparison, when NBC was thinking about canceling Chuck, the show was averaging 7.14 million viewers for its second season. Remember when everyone forgot that Fringe was on after the World Series? Well, even they were able to garner 5 million viewers (which have since shot back up to around 7 million viewers each week).

Still, with 4.4 million viewers the season finale isn’t even the worst performing episode ratings-wise this season. Overall, out of the eighteen episodes aired, the season finale was the fourth worst in terms of ratings. The worst being the Hiro trial episode, “Pass/Fail,” which only ...

I’m going to be completely honest; I had no idea that the season finale of Heroes was on last night. What’s worse is that it might not only be its fourth season finale, but a series finale if the show doesn’t get picked up for another season… and with the ratings down, that’s a definite possibility.

This past season has been pretty much (somewhat) hit or miss for me. While there’s been a sufficient amount of episodes decent enough to keep me watching, I still had to fight through all the poor storylines and singular character episodes just to get to them. I guess that’s why I needed my DVR to remind me that Heroes was even on.

Will Heroes Be Back For Another Season?

If you listen everyone’s favorite telepath, Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman on the show), it would seem that Heroes is in for another season. Despite low ratings and rumors of cancellation year after year, Grunberg believes he’s got the evidence to support his statement. What’s this evidence he speaks of?

Well…

“We wrapped yesterday and the [final episode] is nowhere near a series finale. It is cliffhanger-y and exciting, but it is nowhere near an end to a series that people are so invested in. It does not tie everything up in a neat bow… I don’t have any doubt that the show will be back.”

Is Heroes Coming To An End?

The cancellation that everyone has been speculating for the past 2 years may finally be upon us as the end may finally be near for our (used to be) favorite Heroes. Word is that everyone connected to the show expects the season to be the show’s last (makes this season’s title, “Redemption” seem like an ironic joke, huh?).

Said a source close to the show;

“Everyone is expecting this to be the last season. The cast, the crew, everyone.”

Not only is the entire production betting on the series ending, but main characters are now being cast in other shows. Our favorite geneticist, Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) has already been cast in the upcoming pilot (featuring a former Doctor Who) Rex Is Not My Lawyer – meanwhile, Dr. Suresh’s presence has been scarce this season, which doesn’t speak well for the future of ...

How’s the Jay Leno Show Faring These Days?

Despite all the hoopla and what appeared to be NBC directives of enforced support for The Jay Leno Show, and pulling scripted dramas en masse, The Jay Leno Show is not faring as well as could be expected.

NBC made a reasonable pitch, declaring how different the show would be… if you count pulling the desk off the set and rearranging the same routines as different, then fine, it’s different. Otherwise, I’m not sure what the change is. And to boot, viewers aren’t impressed.

At least it doesn’t look good from last Monday night where The Jay Leno Show pulled in 4.6 million viewers… and was bested by everything on the air except One Tree Hill on The CW, Gossip Girl, again from The CW and, well… huh. That’s it.

Dancing with the Stars, at its peak, had 18.4 million viewers ...

Heroes: One Shall Soon Fall [Updated]

Alot of us having been saying it for sometime: One of these characters on Heroes has got to die. And stay dead. For good.

Well, it seems like somebody up in the big office over at NBC FINALLY heard our collective cries, because E! Online is reporting that Heroes will be rocked by a major death this season and “this is not one that will go unnoticed by even the most casual fan.”
