Will Brandon Routh Appear In The Green Lantern Movie?

Over the last 48 hours, we’ve heard the news that Ryan Gosling is in the running for Green Lantern and that Brandon Routh will continue to play Superman/Clark Kent in the Superman reboot.

Considering that Warner Brothers is aiming to have the next Superman film out by summer 2012 (a solid 4 years away), there are those wondering if keeping Routh is a bit premature. Normally, I would agree with that logic.

However if you will all remember, boys and girls. According to a script review from two months back, the character of Clark Kent makes an appearance in Green Lantern(!)

Is Ryan Gosling The Green Lantern?

So I wasn’t going to write about this because at this point it’s just rumor, but then again my boyz over at Latino Review are usually right on the money with these things months ahead of anyone else. Plus I took the time to put together that really cool image you’re staring at - so I figured “What the hell.”

It looks like Ryan Gosling may be on the fast track to play Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie.

Green Lantern To Start Shooting In Spring

First Showing recently caught up with Donald De Line, producer of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, and used the occasion to pump ol’ Donny for some info about how Green Lantern is coming along. According to De Line, things are still proceeding in the right direction; he also hinted that GL might be on the big screen quicker than you think.

Green Lantern 'What The Fans Will Want To See'

My buds at Latino Review have alerted me to a new bit of news about the Green Lantern movie that is indeed moving forward (without Jack Black, thank you very much).

Marvel Comics writer Marc Guggenheim has been tasked with writing the screenplay, and so far, it’s sounding like things are moving in the right direction.

Warner Bros Finally Gets Serious About DC Comics

It has been a long time in coming, but it now appears that Warner Bros. has finally decided to make use of their stable of DC Comics characters.

Following the financial and critical success of The Dark Knight Warner Bros. has realized that they are sitting on a gold mine - not only from box office receipts, but also from DVD, television, video games and other sources of revenue.

Last month the company held a strategy meeting in an attempt to figure out what was needed in order for them to match Marvel Comics in the comic book movie stakes, and it would appear that they have finally come up with a plan.

Flash And Green Lantern Spin-Offs Have Directors

Flash And Green Lantern Spin-Offs Have Directors

Warner Bros. seems to be hot under the collar to get a batch of superhero movies out the door. Although the Justice League movie seems to be mired in casting hell and surrounded by rumors of being more like a Teen Titans movie, the studio has apparently locked in directors for movie versions of both The Flash and Green Lantern.

The word is that these are supposed to be spin-offs The Flash is supposed to be a spin-off of the Justice League film, so I can only assume that once they finally get that one cast that they’ll have their leads for one of these two movies.

A Blessing Or A Curse: John Stewart Confirmed As JLA’s Green Lantern?

A Blessing Or A Curse: John Stewart Confirmed As JLA's Green Lantern?

With casting for the JLA film rumored to be well under way, news has leaked to suggest the superhero team will be graced with the presence of a Green Lantern - contrary to reports from a few days ago - but that the character will likely be John Stewart. While not officially confirmed, the report derives from casting information in which one black actor is called for, among primarily caucasian males. So, the question is, is this good or bad news? Is a third-tier, supporting Lantern better than no Lantern at all? Could Stewart be the rumored team member to die by the film’s finale, leading to a juicier stand-alone Green Lantern film in the future? For once, I’m open to almost anything.

Jack Black is NOT Green Lantern… yet

Jack Black is NOT Green Lantern... yet

According to Jack Black himself:

“I took a meeting with someone who has the rights, but there’s no [Green Lantern] script,” Black told EW. “I’d be interested if there was a really good writer attached, but it’s far from a [done deal].”

Now before you Green Lantern fans breathe a collective sigh of relief, re-read that quote and consider the following:

- Someone who has the rights to GL contacted Jack Black about the role.

- Jack is still interested in playing the role.

It ain’t over yet, folks.
