Studios Ramp Up Production Prior To SAG Strike

As it stands, Hollywood studios are deadlocked in their contract negotiations with the Screen Actors Guild. That news stirs up foul memories of a year ago, when the Writers Guild of America was at a similar juncture with the studios… Soon after that there were no TV shows for about half a year.

And we all know what that did last year’s TV season.

Green Hornet To Be A Laugh-Riot Comedy

I am not excited about this news.

We’ve already known for a while that Seth Rogen will be playing the Green Hornet in the movie of the same name. A while back word surfaced that Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle) had landed the role of Kato, the asian sidekick. Now comes word that Chow will be directing the film as well.

Movie Grab Bag - August 6, 2008

We get busy, we miss stuff. Here are some of the items of note that didn’t get individual posts today…

- Seth Rogen won’t be a fat Green Hornet. (Super Hero Hype)

- Maybe Goonies 2 isn’t on track after all. (Cinematical)

- Kevin Smith’s Porno gets an R rating. (AP)

Seth Rogen: At Risk of Over-Exposure

Seth Rogen: At Risk of Over-Exposure

Before anyone sends me hate mail, I’m asking this as a huge fan of Seth Rogen. Trust me, it’s awesome that he’s now in the “A-list” earning big bucks and making these films that not make alot of money but are actually good!

And the last few weeks we’ve been hearing news item after item about the latest projects the Knocked Up star is headlining.

He has two films coming in the next few months - the self-proclaimed “weed action movie” The Pineapple Express (which looks great and I’ve heard nothing less than stellar things about from those who’ve seen it) and Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno. At the moment, he’s filming Observe and Report and production will soon start on Judd Apatow’s Funny People

Green Light for Green Hornet With… Seth Rogen?

Green Light for Green Hornet With... Seth Rogen?

He’s got two films coming within the next few months: This summer’s The Pineapple Express (which I’ve heard nothing less than great things about so far) and Kevin Smith’s Zack & Miri Make a Porno. Not to mention, he’s in the middle of filming Observe and Report and has that currently untitled Judd Apatow/Adam Sandler “stand-up comedy” gearing up for production later this year.

And soon enough, believe it or not - Seth Rogen will be donning a mask and spandex.

The Green Hornet: Comedy Or Not Rests On Coin Toss

The Green Hornet: Comedy Or Not Rests On Coin Toss

Back in July we reported that Seth Rogen was going to be The Green Hornet. At the time we were among the among the “nerds [that] love complaining” that Rogen mentions in an interview with MTV about the film’s status. In his defense he did say:

“You go on Ain’t It Cool News, and everybody complains about everything.”

Which I agree with completely. I have yet to find a movie site with a larger contingent of nasty, mean-spirited commenters.

On the other hand the photo you see here is about as “macho” a picture of Rogen as I was able to find anywhere.

Another Potentially Bad Casting Decision From Hollywood

Another Potentially Bad Casting Decision From Hollywood

It is being reported around the web that the person who who has been hired to produce and possibly star in the big screen adaption of The Green Hornet will be Seth Rogen. For those of you unfamiliar with The Green Hornet, Britt Reid was a debonair newspaper publisher by day and masked superhero by night. A precursor to Batman, grand nephew of The Lone Ranger, Britt and his trusted sidekick Kato fought to rid the world of crime. When we think of debonair newspaper publishers, don’t we all picture the gentleman above?

Way to go Hollywood.
