The trailer for ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ highlights the sequel’s new cast, grittier action, and more practical effects. But will it be enough to win over those who didn’t like the first film?
In G.I. Joe: Retaliation, a semi-reboot/sequel to the 2009 film G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, director Jon Chu pairs returning characters Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Duke (Channing Tatum) with a batch of new heroes Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki), Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), as well as the villainous, Firefly (Ray Stevenson) in a “gritty” action-adventure film. After a deadly terrorist attack leaves U.S. defenses scattered and outnumbered, the ragtag group of remaining Joes seek the assistance of original “Real American Hero,” Joe Colton (Bruce Willis), in order to strike back at Cobra and the group’s leader, the ruthless Cobra Commander.
