The SyFy channel is a source of entertainment for many of you sci-fi fans out there who also happen to favor our site, Screen Rant. So, in honor of you guys we thought we’d offer you a look at the next episodes of some of your favorite SyFy channel shows, namely Stargate Universe, Caprica and Ghost Hunters.

The clips are about two minutes each, and each clip tries its best to hook you into what this latest episode is going to be about.

I’ll be the first to confess that I don’t actually watch any of the three shows featured below, but since we had access to these preview clips (and I was the only one around to write them up ) I just didn’t think it right to deny you ...

Sci Fi to Syfy: Syfy Has Its Best Year Ever

When Dave Howe stepped up to the plate at Sci Fi, took the reigns of the network and started heading them towards their new future, he wanted to expand on the number of markets the network was in, which included the youth market (demographic). Howe was also concerned with replacing their flagship television series, Battlestar Galactica & expanding on Ghost Hunters.

As Syfy rebranded itself, it also took the high road to trying to create improved quality content for the channel. In the fracas of it all, they “repainted” the familiar fun that was Stargate and created Stargate Universe – much to the angst of the core Stargate fans.

Syfy Has Historic Month Of October Ratings

Syfy had themselves a record-setting month in October.

The 5th season of Ghost Hunters is averaging 3 million viewers.

The much debated Stargate Universe is averaging 2.85 million viewers, and doing much better than the last season of Stargate Atlantis. SGU is currently bringing in 36% more total viewers than SGA, but then again, it’s early in the season, so I’m not holding my breath on any numbers holding up for the entire season.

Destination Truth’s 3rd season is averaging 2.2 million viewers.

Scare Tactics, though only averaging 1.56 million viewers in the Fall 2009 season, it’s up 42% from the 2008 season.

And finally, the surprise statistic for me is that Sanctuary is pulling in an average of 2.4 million viewers.

All of these numbers have added up to Syfy’s most-watched October prime in the history of the network.

SyFy’s Ghost Hunters Delivering Great Ratings

If you watch Syfy’s Ghost Hunters, you are in some pretty good company.

It’s been pulling in some great rating numbers this year. Last week’s episode drew a 2.0 Household rating which overall, equates to 2.8 million viewers. Head to head in the same hour, it beat out TNT’s Leverage.

An interesting demographic of viewers for Ghost Hunters is that women between the ages of 25-54 made up 1.1 million of those viewers last week.

Amongst all its spin-offs, the original show is still holding its own. Is everyone loving the new locations in this new season?

Sanctuary & Ghost Hunters News

The green-screen based sci-fi show Sanctuary has done well enough in the ratings department for Sci-Fi to pick up a 2nd season with 13 episodes.

Sci-Fi must be happy with it, as apparently are the fans of the show.

The first few episodes tested my patience… but that’s because they tried to fit so much developmental detail into those first few hours that it was blatantly obvious and painful. I personally wanted to find sanctuary from the show.

As the show progressed I felt that it found its footing and is showing a nice pace with the character developments through the episodes. I now find it isn’t a bad show to kill time with. (I did not say superb. I said wasn’t bad.)

Sanctuary was Sci-Fi’s highest rated debut episode since Eureka premiered back in July of ’06. (

Sci Fi’s Ghost Hunters Gets A Spinoff

I’ve previously written a review on Sci Fi Channels’ Ghost Hunters with a bit of incredulity as to their success for constantly finding ghosts, here on Screen Rant.

The ensuing comments showed me people like the show more than I expected, and sure enough, the ratings must have warranted the same perspective, as the show is getting it’s own spinoff, called Ghost Hunters International.

Ghost Hunters International will follow a new crew of investigators as they travel around Europe, including some of Europe’s legendary haunted spots doing what they do best, finding or debunking those Casper sightings!

The European team will consist of alumini TAPS investigators Robb Demarest, Andy Andrews, Brian Harnois and Donna La Croix, along with Barry Fitzgerald (from the Ghost Hunters‘ investigations in Ireland) and newcomer Shannon Sylvia.
