Television is no longer the walk in the park that is used to be. With many series focused on solving murders (or committing them), the landscape of television has become, well, deadly. But which series are the deadliest?

In a study conducted by Funeralwise.com, which analyzed the deaths in 8 episodes of 40 TV shows, it was revealed that Spartacus: Vengeance and Game of Thrones came out on top, with an average of 25 and 13 dead bodies per episode, respectively.

For those not familiar with either series, those numbers do appear to be extremely high. Though with Spartacus: Vengeance focusing on the gladiator rebellion, and Game of Thrones highlighting the civil war between the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, it’s not surprising to find these two series making the ...

Click to continue reading 10 Deadliest Shows on TV Revealed

Considering how most conversations in Game of Thrones revolve around past wars, present wars and future wars, one would think the prospect of additional conflict and bloodshed would create excitement for the people of Westeros. Instead, as Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and his immense fleet sail ever closer to the shores of King’s Landing, arrogance in the face of an unseen threat morphs into legitimate worry for those capable of comprehending its magnitude. Needless to say, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) remains unburdened with concern or comprehension.

In ‘The Prince of Winterfell,’ there is the sense that the war being fought between Robb Stark (Richard Madden) and Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) is but a mere skirmish in comparison to the tidal wave of violence Stannis is preparing to unleash on King’s Landing. ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 8: ‘The Prince of Winterfell’ Recap

If you thought Westeros to be a cynical place before, the newest episode of Game of Thrones has definitely set the bar a wee bit higher. With a title like ‘A Man Without Honor,’ it seems likely the reference would be toward the ungrateful adoptee/lifetime Stark hostage Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). However, in typical GoT fashion – especially this late in the season – the show goes on to illustrate how, in their own unique way, the title of ‘A Man Without Honor’ can and does apply to most men in the series.

Not surprisingly, Theon’s run on Winterfell hasn’t gone as smoothly as it should have – what with having to take Sir Rodrik’s head, and the two youngest Starks escaping capture. Still, on the bright side, Theon has ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 7: ‘A Man Without Honor’ Recap

Is it possible to ever completely know someone – to truly understand what drives them, inspires them, and makes them do what they do? According to Game of Thrones, every man, woman or child is capable of surprising even those closest to them, and that moment – where the unexpected reveals itself – can often times be that which defines a person forever. Sometimes, the reveal is gradual, something which slowly exposes itself over time; while in others it is far more explosive, and completely undermines long held beliefs and alliances.

So, when ‘The Old Gods and the New’ opens with Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) having successfully taken Winterfell, the betrayal itself is as confounding as the fact that he actually seems to have pulled it off. Given Theon’s history ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 6: ‘The Old Gods and the New’ Recap

[WARNING: This recap contains spoilers for 'The Ghost of Harrenhal.']

As suggested by Petyr Baelish (Aiden Gillen), if revenge is the truest of motivations, then the various kingdoms depicted in Game of Thrones are going to be mired in the pit of war for a very long time. As every killing is meant to place one at an advantage over another, or to right a wrong that occurred even years prior, the notion that there will ever be an end to the bloodshed may require the intervention of a power greater than mankind – or at least one mankind doesn’t yet have the ability to control.

After ‘Garden of Bones‘ left audiences with the unholy birthing of a shadow assassin by Melisandre (Carice van Houten) it certainly did not take the creature ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 5: ‘The Ghost of Harrenhal’ Recap

When one stops to consider the scope of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, its easy to understand the amount of time it takes for specific information to travel from kingdom to kingdom – not to mention how long, and through how many more channels said information has to travel in order for it to be disseminated amongst what amounts to be common folk.

Certainly, one of the highlights of Game of Thrones has always been the use of information as power, and in ‘Garden of Bones,’ this continues to be the case.

However, much of the information dispersed amongst the main characters happens to be comprised of rumor and conjecture – which appears to be a unique currency in its own right. Naturally, there are those such as Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Varys (Conleth Hill) ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 4: ‘Garden of Bones’ Recap

The world depicted in Game of Thrones - with its villainy, treachery and deceit – is not one where optimism finds its way to the hearts of too many men. Holding steadfast to a belief or a cause is a sure way to end up with one’s head on a stick, as Eddard Stark regrettably proved. And for those too young, or too idealistic to know how most make due, the notion of compromise can often be a hard pill to swallow.

‘What is Dead May Never Die’ introduces various players in the game to the notion of compromise; either that or it reminds those of a compromise made long ago. Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) learns this after his encounter with Craster (Robert Pugh) reveals that the fate ...

Click to continue reading ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2, Episode 3: ‘What Is Dead May Never Die’ Recap

Today HBO announced that it had picked up its epic fantasy drama series Game of Thrones for Season 3. Fortunately, not only do the producers already have a plan for what to do in season 3, but they also plans on how to tackles seasons 4 and beyond.

With Game of Throne’s 10-episode second season encompassing the entirety of George R. R. Martin’s second novel of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, “A Clash of Kings,” fans have been curious how subsequent seasons will be handled, given the extensive length of the source material, as well as the style in which it’s written.

Here’s what executive producer D. B. Weiss had to say about how they’re going to handle Game of Thrones season 3, 4 and beyond:

George R. R. Martin’s epic tale about the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros will be continuing on HBO, as the network announced today that it has picked up Game of Thrones for season 3.

Coming hot off the heels of the Game of Thrones season 2 premiere, which garnered record ratings for the series, HBO took no time re-securing David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ adaptation of one of the literature’s most epic novels.

Here’s what Michael Lombardo had to say about Game of Thrones season 3:

Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss raised our expectations for the second season – and then surpassed them. We are thrilled by all the viewer and media support we’ve received for the series, and can’t wait to see what Dan and David have in store for next season.

While magic and superstition were largely spoken of in the past tense during season 1, Game of Thrones has put these various notions front and center in season 2.

It feels as though, with the expansion of the kingdoms of Westeros, there also comes a deeper understanding of where the beliefs of this world’s inhabitants lie. In ‘The Night Lands’ there is a distinct feeling that a separation between logic and mysticism has created a troublesome schism between knowledge and ignorance. As we see when Cersei (Lena Heady) once more engages in an ill-adviced battle of wills and wits with her younger brother, and newly appointed Hand of the King, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).

HBO brings 'Game of Thrones,' the epic adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy series, back for its long-awaited season 2. Read our review to see if it is all that fans have been anticipating.

Omens, visions and rituals combine to herald the next chapter of HBO’s obsession-worthy fantasy series, Game of Thrones. After leaving the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros in the hands of a despotic boy-king, the series roars back to television, picking up right where it left off like a book opened to a dog-eared page.

From the start, it’s clear that, as much as season 1 followed the reluctant exploits of Eddard Stark (Sean Bean) and his ruinous turn as the Hand of the King, season 2 immediately begins gathering steam from the performance of Peter Dinklage. Yes, he was the break out star of season 1, but this season (awards and accolades aside) Game of Thrones feels very much like Dinklage’s program to carry. With his wit, charm and wry sensibilities, Tyrion easily handles the task.

The long wait is over as (at the time of writing this) Game of Thrones is about to premiere its second season on HBO. We’ve already provided fans with just about every trailer, featurette, recap, character guide and faq sheet we possibly could, so all that’s really left are the fun bits.

Last but not least before season 2 of GoT kicks off, we have a fun and sexy behind the scenes video about a photo shoot that cast members Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) did for Rolling Stone. You have to watch it, if only to hear them joke about what it’s like to film scenes of death, despair, incest and rape all day long.

At this point there’s little to nothing left to be said about season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones - the network has pushed its marketing campaign of the acclaimed fantasy show pretty much as far as it can without actually showing us the episodes.
However, in one last hurrah of marketing materials, today we have some new Game of Thrones season 2 images, and a 22-minute preview of the upcoming season, which both recaps the character and events of season 1, while offering a further glimpse of season 2.

HBO continues the campaign for Game of Thrones season 2 with a new trailer and some new spots that are each dedicated to one of the “Houses” (i.e., noble familys) who will be vying for the crown of Westeros in season 2.

This upcoming season of GoT tackles the second volume of series creator George R.R. As the title would imply, the vacuum of power left by King Robert Baratheon’s death in season 1 will be the focal point of season 2. As would-be usurpers rise in the various corners of the land, the Lannister family tries to keep young Joffrey established as the rightful king.
