Happy Friday everyone!

We missed last week due to the launch of our sister site, GameRant.com and the fact that there was quite a few less one-sheets than normal so instead, I’ve combined them all from the last two weeks into this edition of Poster Friday.

Screen Rant’s wall this week now includes new one-sheets for Avatar, Precious, Crazy on the Outside, Daybreakers, Lost, Salt, Alice in Wonderland, Crazy Heart, Kick-Ass, The Yellow Handkerchief, Caprica, All About Evil, The Wolfman, Ong Bak 3, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, From Paris with Love and Wonderful World.

In addition to that we have some neat stylistic posters for some popular television shows.

Let’s get to it.

John Travolta: the name used to be synonymous with dancing, bad accents, Scientology, and mediocre films. Then Pulp Fiction came out and reminded everyone in Hollywood that he’s actually a pretty good leading man. Often times he plays such an intriguing bad guy, that one can’t help but enjoy his performance, whether you want to or not. Arguably, he was the best part about Face/Off, Primary Colors, A Civil Action, The General’s Daughter, Swordfish and even the ridiculous Battlefield Earth.

After this summer’s mild hit The Taking of Pelham 123, Travolta will channel his best Denzel Washington from Training Day in Pierre Morel’s latest action flick From Paris with Love. Co-starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, August Rush) as an embassy worker who gets paired up with Detective Wax (Travolta) in Paris, the two seem to work together on a French drug deal – or are they?

If you go to other movie sites you can find out what they are really working on but I consider that twist to be SPOILER, and personally wish that I didn’t already know. Watch the unofficial trailer below (thanks to /Film for nabbing it!) and you’ll see something greater happening in the story besides drugs without the twist being spoiled for you:

[TRAILER REMOVED BY STUDIO REQUEST]

Morel had the most unexpected hit of 2009 when the action film Taken came out of nowhere to rake in $224 million on a $25 million budget. His previous directing attempt District 13, although entirely in French, was a fun, high-energy thriller and has probably the best free running scene of all time. From Paris with Love looks to be on par with those films. However, it was annoying to hear Richard Stevens (John Rhys Meyers) say the name Wax over and over. It would also appear script writers, Luc Besson (Transporter 2) and Adi Hasak, have one particular word they like to use over and over that I can’t mention on a family-friendly site.

From Paris with Love is being produced by Europacorp studios and so far they have been pretty dependable about releasing enjoyable action films, such as Taken, District 13 and Danny the Dog. The trailer does look intense and should be a good film to catch in the cold month of February when it debuts. If it does well – as I expect it to – then keep an eye out for more Pierre Morel directed action features including Universal’s Pursuit, Taken 2 and a yet to be named project.

Did you like the trailer for From Paris with Love and will you see the film next year?

From Paris with Love opens in theaters February 5, 2010.

From Paris With Love is a new action movie produced and co-written by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) and directed by Pierre Morel, the guy who gave us the Liam Neeson film Taken, and the French free-running flick, District 13. It stars John Travolta as a U.S. agent who is teamed up with a lower ranking younger agent (Jonathan Rhys Myers) to stop a terrorist attack in Paris.

There was already a short trailer released for From Paris With Love last year, but today we have the very cool first teaser poster for it. It seems like one of those ideas that someone should have thought of before (maybe they have, correct me if I’m wrong). Very simple and clean, I like it. Check it out:

(click for larger)

Apart from a generic title (did anyone think it was a romantic comedy before you read the plot?), From Paris With Love does look like it could be a lot of fun. I don’t think the trailer (which is shown below) is put together all that well, but the actual footage we can see make the movie look like it could be a lot of fun.

What do you think about the first teaser poster and trailer for From Paris With Love? Do you think the movie looks any good?

From Paris With Love has a U.S. release date of February 19, 2010.

1. Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman will star in and produce Important Artifacts and Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry.

According to Variety:

“The book takes the form of a Sotheby’s-like estate auction catalog, with 325 entries and photographs depicting items that reveal the private moments and the rise and fall of a four-year relationship between the fictitious couple Hal Morris (a 40ish photographer) and Lenore Doolan (a New York Times food columnist in her late 20s).”

The film, which will be a romantic comedy is based on a novel by Leanne Shapton.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the title will be reduced to Artifacts and Personal Poperty.

Source: Variety

2. Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard) will star in the Nanette Burstein directed Going the Distance.

According to Variety:

“Penned by tyro writer Geoff LaTulippe, centers on a man and woman in a long-distance relationship who ultimately come to the realization that they would be happier dating someone closer to home. “

I was just thinking that they don’t make enough Romantic Comedies these days (yea right!)

Source: Variety

3. Joel Silver’s Dark Castle shingle is developing Unknown White Male. Nope it’s not a belated sequel to Single White Female.

The Hollywood Reporter says that:

“According to the logline, Male centers on a doctor who, when visiting Berlin with his wife, gets into a car accident that leaves him in a coma; he then awakens to find out that someone has taken his place, leading him on a frantic quest to discover the truth.”

Could be interesting, but it sounds like it could turn into generic thriller fare.

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

4. Lionsgate will distribute the John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers starrer From Paris with Love.

Irish born Rhys Meyers plays a US ambassador in France who teams up with Travolta’s US agent to stop a terrorist attack in the French capital. Imagine a European Swordfish without Hugh Jackman.

I can visualize the explosions and the one liners vividly.

Source: Variety

5. X-Men 2 and Superman Returns writer Dan Harris has been hired to adapt computer game Dante’s Inferno. In the game the players journey through hell – I’ve seen enough films that have given the same sensation.

Can’t say that I’m looking forward to this one.

Source: Variety

That’s it for now. See You at the movies.

I. Paul Greengrass (Bourne 2&3) is leading the short list to direct a film based on the life of legendary Pirate Blackbeard . The movie titled… erm… Blackbeard is a realistic take on the life of Edward Teach. The film is supposed to be hitting the R rated boundaries – so expect lots of frantic swash and buckle.

2. Would you like to see an action-adventure movie starring Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine?

Me too – we might get to see it. The increasingly unreliable MTV talked to Caine who said:

“I’ll probably do a film with Scarlett Johansson. I forget what it’s called. It’s an adventure film. I was told yesterday that they have Matthew McConaughey as the guy. I’ve got go home and read it again. It’s a heist adventure film.”

With a cast like that – I’m there, but will Michael Caine… if he can’t remember the title?

3. The creator of Lethal Weapon and director of the fantastic Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; Shane Black, is set to return to the megaphone with Cold Warrior. According to Variety:

“Based on a script by Chuck Mondry, pic revolves around a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.”

So, Mel Gibson or Val Kilmer to star? You tell me – I can’t choose.

Source: Variety

4. John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) will star in From Paris With Love. The generic titled film is from the pen of Luc Besson and Adi Hasak, and it will shoot in Paris on a budget of $55 million.

Expect Travolta to get about half of that.

5. Love Iron Man?

Good – then Reelcomix has some cool Iron Man related goodies that are up for grabs, that might rock your world.

What don’t believe me? Then what about a Stark Industries poster carrier and flash drive?

No? Then surely a Iron Man poster.

Check out the link below for the previously mentioned goodies.
