New ‘Fast Five’ Interactive Trailer

There’s not a lot you need to know about The Fast and The Furious franchise. Basically, it boils down to eight words: big dudes drive fast cars with beautiful women. Still, it’s a formula that has worked for director Justin Lin and stars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel – and one which will likely work again with Fast Five, the latest installment in the popular series.

In Fast Five, action star Dwayne Johnson joins the cast as federal agent Luke Hobbs, who is in pursuit of Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) in sunny Rio. Returning cast members from previous Fast and Furious films include Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and others.

Tomorrow brings the Fast Five trailer to your computer screens, but today we have an official image from the film to wet your appetite.

I’m sure the ladies more than the fellas will appreciate the sight of two of cinema’s leading tough guys – Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – standing face to face ready to throw down; for us guys, the photo hints that Fast Five is going to feature just as much action outside the fleet of sleek cars as it will behind the wheel.

I don’t think that 9 years ago anyone could have predicted that a simple movie about breaking the law and driving fast would have become such a hit. When The Fast and The Furious first came on the scene in 2001, it was all about slick suped-up cars and scantily clad women dancing around them in underground, illegal street racing gangs.

Oh there was also a story about some guys stealing stuff while driving these fast cars, a brother and his sister and the undercover cop purseing them, blah, blah, blah…FAST CARS AND HOT WOMEN!

Race ahead (heh) to 2010 and four films later, The Fast and the Furious has turned into a bonafide franchise, pulling in a combined worldwide box office gross of close to 1 billion dollars ($955 million to be exact). The main guys all took a ...

Fast Five Set Pics Reveal Some Old Faces

Fast Five, the fifth installment in the popular and financially successful The Fast and The Furious franchise, has begun filming in Puerto Rico. Actor Tyrese Gibson snapped a few pictures on set and recently posted them to his Twitter account for the fans to get excited about the ensemble cast.

The sharp-eyed guys at Latino Review noticed that some actors from the previous F & F films were in the pictures, raising the question of when the fifth film takes place in the overall timeline of the F & F franchise.

Ludacris Returning for ‘Fast Five’

Fast Five, the fifth chapter in the Fast and the Furious franchise continues to pack on the star power. Rapper-turned-quasi-actor Ludacris recently Tweeted the following message, which strongly indicates that he will be involved in the film:

“Just landed in Puerto Rico. Shooting for Fast & Furious 5 is about to be underway…”

If you pause right now, you just might hear the collective groans of the many fans who hoped they would never see Luda behind the wheel again, after his less-than-thrilling turn as “Tej” in the 2003 sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Dwayne Johnson Talks Bounty Hunter Role in ‘Fast Five’

Although its release is still a year away, fans are already revved up for Fast Five - the fifth installment in The Fast & The Furious franchise. MTV caught up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the Spike Guy’s Choice Awards where the wrestler-turned-actor revealed a few details about his role in the film:

“We’re gonna introduce a new character into the franchise … A really unique U.S. Marshal who is hired to hunt and track down Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.”

At this point there’s not much known about the film’s storyline other than it picks up where Fast & Furious left off, with Dominic Toretto (Diesel) being sprung from his prison transport and going on the run. Neal Moritz Talks Fast & Furious Sequels & Highlander Reboot

Producer Neal Moritz is one busy man – he currently has no less than 52 different projects in development (according to IMDB).

Two of these films include the fifth and sixth Fast and the Furious installments ( the fifth is currently titled Fast Five), as well as the reboot/ remake of 80s classic, Highlander. Moritz spoke with Collider recently and discussed both projects and their production status.

In regards to Fast & Furious 5 and 6, Moritz said that they would be shot closely together – but not back to back – and that the films would run into each other (no pun intended).

The producer added that Fast 5 would be shooting “in Brazil, Rio, Puerto Rico, a little bit in Los Angeles and some in Atlanta” during the summer.

Vin Diesel Updates Riddick 3 & Fast Five

Hours ago, Vin Diesel updated his 7.6 million Facebook fans on the status of the fifth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, and teased the upcoming Riddick 3.

After the incredible success of Fast & Furious, which saw the franchise’s original main cast all return, there was now no limit to how many franchise films they could make and how many the characters would return for. So without surprise, Paul Walker revealed a year ago that they’d definitely be returning for a 5th and that they’d be going to Brazil in the movie.

Now comes this update from Vin Diesel which talks about that status of the project and some of the big action set pieces that will take place in the new locale.

Vin Diesel confirmed on his Facebook page that not one but TWO more The Fast and The Furious movies would get made. And although we’re not sure if that’s true for a sixth movie, today we’ve got confirmation that there will be a fifth film that reunites at least two of the cast members from the last installment, Fast & Furious.

Variety reports the news that another Fast and The Furious film has been greenlit by Universal and is currently entitled Fast Five. That’s right, they came up with an even dumber name than 2 Fast 2 Furious…

Of course they may change it but if they do go with it – wow…

Walker & Diesel Travel Furiously Fast To Brazil

In a radio interview Friday on the Valentine in the Morning show, Paul Walker, star of three of the four Fast and the Furious movies, revealed that there will be a fifth installment in the franchise.

He explains that that he and Vin Diesel would both be back to reprise their character roles and that the film would take place in Brazil.

Walker had this to say about Fast and Furious, which opened last weekend, and the next film:
