Screen Rant owner Vic Holtreman originally founded this site with the intention of providing readers with a middle-ground/average person perspective on movie news and reviews – hence our old mantra “movie and TV news without the sugar coating.” While the site has certainly evolved – we now cover a wider range of genres and provide readers with a variety of diverse “voices” – our willingness to champion both entertaining and/or artistic movies (at least on a case by case basis) hasn’t changed.

Which is why we (Vic and myself) jumped at the chance to participate in Film School Reject‘s recent article the “10 Greatest Movies of All Time (According to the Internet).” Now the results are in.

11 Movie Characters That Guys Want To Think Like

In honor of the release of the new comedy Think Like a Man, we at Screen Rant decided to create a list of eleven male movie characters that guys want to actually think like. In making the list, we followed two simple rules: the characters had to be male and they couldn’t be based on anyone in real life.

For each character we chose, we note the situations in which guys would want to think like these characters. As an example, we might not think like Jason Bourne (The Bourne Identity) in everyday life but if we were in a hand-to-hand combat situation, we would definitely want to think like him. That way, we could outsmart, outmaneuver and outlast our opponents.

‘Die Hard 5′ Snags a Pair of Russian Villains

Production is about to begin on the fifth installment in the Die Hard franchise, bearing the punny title A Good Day to Die Hard. Bruce Willis will reprise his career-defining role as loose cannon, Irish-American cop John McClane – who’s really a fish out of water this time around, as he ends up battling baddies overseas in Russia while also reuniting with his son Jack (Spartacus‘ Jai Courtney).

While there were rumors circulating a year ago that a member of the Gruber clan could be featured as the antagonist in Die Hard 5, that was long before any official plot details had been announced. ‘Akira’ and ‘Die Hard 5′ Casting Shortlist Roundup [Updated]

It’s a good time to be a youthful up-and-coming actor in Hollywood. Readings for several high-profile tentpole projects – in need of young stars – will be held over the upcoming week(s), including ones for: Warner Bros.’ (heavily-criticized) Americanized adaptation of the cult anime/manga, Akira, and 20th Century Fox’s latest installment in the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard.

Bruce Willis is set to reprise his iconic role as John McClane in the fifth Die Hard, but the search is ongoing for a fitting candidate to portray the maverick cop’s biological son. Meanwhile, Garrett Hedlund looks all but set to portray the biker gang leader Kaneda in Akira; the other pivotal male lead role in the film, however, has yet to be filled.

‘Die Hard 5′ is ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’; Plot Details Emerge

We’ve learned a lot about Die Hard 5 since the project was announced – early details pointed to John McClane (Bruce Willis) going to Russia to face his latest threat, McClane now having stronger family ties in the form a young son, and possibly Justin Long from Live Free or Die Hard as McClane’s son-in-law (having married his daughter, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Die Hard 4).

One thing we haven’t heard, though, is what title the new Die Hard will be sporting – but now we know: fans of the franchise can look forward to seeing if the ominous implications of the title, A Good Day to Die Hard, actually play out in the film.

When Live Free or Die Hard raked in over $383 million worldwide in theaters back in 2007, it was only a matter of time before serious talk about Die Hard 5 got underway. Jump ahead to the present and sure enough, Bruce Willis is prepped to reprise his turn as damn-the-rules New York cop John McClane in a fifth installment.

Noam Murro was previously attached to direct Die Hard 5, but his signing on to helm 300: Battle of Artemisia has reportedly forced Murro to drop Willis’ action sequel from his to-do list. 20th Century Fox, it seems, already has a replacement in mind.

With four films and over twenty years of history, the Die Hard franchise is certainly living up to its name. Each film has been an over-the-top, fun-filled thrill ride, which made a bad-ass legend out of Bruce Willis and his character John McClane.

While some viewers thought the fourth installment Live Free or Die Hard was a failure, we gave it a hearty 4-star review for its action-packed fun and excitement. Even though we really liked the film, it never really made sense for Fox to make a Die Hard 5 (like THAT’s ever stopped a studio before) but this time last year Bruce Willis said the filming could begin as early as 2011.

Despite the fact that Live Free and Die Hard disappointed some by dropping the franchise’s traditional R-rating, it made bank beyond expectations and earned very positive acclaim from critics and fans alike. Bruce Willis to Retire John McClane after Die Hard 5 & 6

The first three Die Hards were immensely enjoyable, thus the reason it was so disappointing to see Live Free and Die Hard cannibalize so much of what made them that way. Out was the brutal gun-violence, the hilarious smartassery, the fantastic antagonists, and in was the PG-13 videogame violence, the Kevin Smith jokes, and the computer programmer bad guy.

Recently, series star Bruce Willis confirmed that Die Hard 5 was on the way with a script by Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and today, Willis indicated that Die Hard 6 is on deck. What about 7, 8, 9, and 10? According to Willis, he plans to retire as John McClane after number six.
