‘Cosmopolis’ Images: Robert Pattinson is an Angry Billionaire

Right now, the name Robert Pattinson may primarily be associated with The Twilight Saga phenomenon; but with the franchise finale, Breaking Dawn, premiering its first half next month, there will very soon come a time when Pattinson’s career is a question mark.

Well, the young actor seems to be planning for the future very carefully; his leading man choices are leaning toward more prestigious fare like the adaptation of the bestselling period romance Water for Elephants, as well as auteur filmmaker David Cronenberg’s upcoming adaptation of author Don DeLillo’s modern-day odyssey, Cosmopolis.

While little has been said about the small tweaks that Cronenberg may or may not be making to DeLillo’s narrative, the basic premise of the novel (and presumably the movie) Cosmopolis can be read in the unofficial synopsis below:

Casting Update: ‘Vampire Hunter’, ‘Cosmopolis’, & ‘The Master’

Today’s batch of casting news concerns three flicks, each of which offers its own flavor of horror: the supernatural monster kind, the existential kind, and the kind that involves cultish devotion to a false messiah. How’s that for some early morning reading?

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has founds its big blood-sucking baddie in the form of Rufus Sewell; David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis now counts Kevin Durand as a member of its cast; and Joaquin Phoenix looks to at last return to straightforward acting in P.T. Anderson’s The Master.

Keira Knightley Replacing Marion Cotillard In Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’ [Updated]

Many a young fangirl (and boy) has spent countless hours bickering with their friends over which of them gets to ~~pretend to~~ be Robert Pattinson’s wife. Marion Cotillard and Keira Knightley were much more amicable in their dealings to become Pattinson’s spouse in David Cronenberg’s next film, Cosmopolis.

Cotillard has officially stepped down from Cronenberg’s adaptation of Dom DeLillo’s strange day-in-a-life novel, and Keira Knightley may be taking her place opposite Pattinson as the lead.

Robert Pattinson Going To David Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’

Playing the pale-skinned, soft-spoken, and occasionally glittering vampire Edward in the Twilight movies has kept Robert Pattinson quite busy over the past few years. He’s managed to appear in a handful of other projects during that time and has now landed the lead role in a horror tale of the existential kind, Cosmopolis.

Cult auteur David Cronenberg is the creative force behind the book-to-film adaptation, which was originally set to star Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard. The latter is reportedly still attached to the project, while Farell is expected to begin work on the Total Recall remake this spring.

Deadline claims that Pattinson decided to sign on for Comopolis as he is a big fan of both Cronenberg’s work and that of author Don DeLillo, who penned the source material. ...

Paul Giamatti May Join David Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’

If Cosmopolis – a story about a 28 year-old billionaire who takes a jaunt across town just to get a haircut from a proper barber and ends up blowing his fortune – sounds peculiar, just remember it’s being brought to life by the guy who made movies about mutant children, evil gynecologists, and Jeff Goldblum as a giant insect.

David Cronenberg is the man behind the Cosmopolis film adapation and he’s already lined up Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard to star in the film. Now it seems that Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti may sign up for this strange cautionary tale as well.

Farrell and Cotillard Join Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’

David Cronenberg’s upcoming film Cosmopolis didn’t need much help to look interesting. Still, the director decided to cast some serious talent in Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard. While Cotillard may find herself in a supporting role, Farrell will get more screen time.

The film, based on a Don DeLillo novel of the same name, focuses on one man’s journey through Manhattan to get a haircut. The problem is, he encounters a number of distractions and obstacles along the way.

From public ceremonies to personal assassins, the day is a string of strange events. Even better, the entire story takes place within a limo. It sounds like a loose, modern-day adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey the more you think look into it.

Harry Potter feels the G-Force at the box office; Mila Kunis is a Black Swan; Michael Keaton is “Ken”; Kurt Russell might be in Red Dawn. Then again he might not; David Cronenberg gets a haircut in Cosmopolis and Money Never Sleeps for Josh Brolin.

Jerry Bruickheimer’s G-Force shot into the number one position this week with a weekend take of $32 million. The Disney family film looks set to hit the $100 million mark giving Bruickheimer another century hit.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had to settle for second place over the weekend. Down 60% from last weekend, the wonderful wizard flick brought in another $30 million, giving the Warner Bros pic a magical gross of almost $222 million.
