With less than two months to go before the opening of Punisher: War Zone, things are starting to happen on the marketing front for the movie.

A few days ago the official website for the film was revamped and after that a new lenticular poster for the movie was revealed.

Now (thanks to Screen Rant reader “Rampage”) we have a new, never before seen clip from the movie.

Raimi and Maguire To Return For Spider-Man 4 (and 5)

[Update: E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports that all talk on Spider-Man 4, as well as 5, is "jumping the gun" according to his sources. He adds that Tobey Maguire has not signed on to return calling the earlier claims "premature." Although it appears Maguire will probably return. - Jamie.]

Despite the fact that it made $900 million, I’ve yet to meet a single person who actually liked Spider-Man 3. Hell, the audience I saw it with went full-on MST3K resulting in huge laughter during the midnight screening.

But since its release, there have been countless rumors regarding the future of the Spider-Man franchise. “Is Tobey Maguire going to stop playing Webhead?” and “What will Sam Raimi’s involvement be… if any?” were among the many questions asked by fanboys across the internet.

Now it looks like plans are under-way to get Webhead’s fourth cinematic outing to the silver screen ASAP.

2009 Comic-Con Registration Already Open!

Comic-Con 2008 is barely behind us, but registration has already opened up for next year!

My memory fails me, but I’m pretty sure that for attendance at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, registration didn’t open up until about 6 months prior or less. So this seems kind of crazy.

Jason Statham Wants to Play Daredevil

…At least if he has any say in the matter.

An LA Times reporter had the good fortune to run into actor Jason Statham (Death Race) and comic book icon-turned comic book movie director, Frank Miller (Sin City, The Spirit), during Comic-Con last week, and oh what plans the pair of them were cooking up.

San Diego Comic-Con '08 Wrap Up

So the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con is officially over - today feels like coming down from a “high.” Covering the Con is always a whirlwind, but at least this year (my second covering it) I felt like a was a bit more in control.

We did our best to bring you the lowdown on what is relevant to you although we couldn’t cover everything. That’s the problem with the Con - as far as movies and television almost everything is relevant to what we cover here at Screen Rant: Sci-Fi, superheroes, action and a bit of horror.

We managed to cover:

Comic-Con '08: Fringe Panel

The San Diego Comic-Con Panel for J.J. Abrams Fringe had in attendance J.J. Abrams, executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orici, Jeff Pinkner, and Bryan Burk.  Actors Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv, and John Noble were also in attendance.

Things we took away from the panel:

They pointed out that unlike some other shows (*cough* Smallville *cough*) that might have rules like “No flights, no tights,” Fringe has no rules.

Comic-Con '08: Battlestar Galactica Panel

First off, the moderator was filmmaker Kevin Smith.

The attendees for the panel for Battlestar Galactica included Jamie Bamber, Michael Trucco, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, creator Ron Moore and producer David Eick.  Tahmoh Penikett showed up about halfway through it.

There were a few things that blew the audience away.

Comic-Con '08: Joss Whedon's Dollhouse Panel

Joss Whedon, Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)  and Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica) attended the Dollhouse panel and they went straight to audience questions after the very cool preview of the show.

Joss was asked if there was anyone outside the Whedon-verse cadre of actors that he might be interested in bringing into his shows.  Joss pointed to Tahmoh quickly!  He touched on the fact he’s got a bro-mance with him and wanted him on the show.

Comic-Con '08: Stargate Atlantis Panel

The panel for Stargate: Atlantis was lighthearted and fun to watch.  The actors in the panel were Joe Flanigan, Jewel Staite, Robert Picardo and show scribe Brad Wright and Chris Sanagustin, the VP of Original Programming from the Sci-Fi Channel.

The crowd was pretty animated with the introductions and when Jewel Staite was introduced the energy of the crowd easily tripled.  The Firefly demographic was well represented.

Screen Rant Focus: Watchmen

Screen Rant Focus: Watchmen

Comic-con has been the perfect starting point for the marketing machine behind the upcoming film adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ genre-shattering, classic graphic novel, Watchmen, to start turning its gears. Since the Con kicked-off and that breathtaking teaser trailer premiered before The Dark Knight, the buzz surrounding Watchmen has gone from a few bees in the bush, to an eager swarm of anticipation.

Always ready to serve the will of the people, we here at Screen Rant thought it might be nice to pool a lot of the info about the Watchmen flick together into a nice focus piece - a Rorschach blot that you can look at and determine for yourself how this film is shaping up.
