Fans are not very happy with the drastic changes made to 'Two And A Half Men', but don't tell CBS that - the premiere was the highest-rated scripted show in years. However NBC's 'The Playboy Club' didn't fare so well.

Almost 28 million viewers tuned in to see the Two and a Half Men season 9 premiere, no doubt spurred by a macabre fascination at Charlie Sheen’s departure and Ashton Kutcher’s arrival. Elsewhere, NBC’s The Playboy Club did poorly in its debut.

The extremely public fight between former Two And A Half Men star Sheen and series creator Chuck Lorre has been news fodder for the last six months. Sheen was fired from the most popular comedy in the country and replaced with Ashton Kutcher. The undeniably vindictive manner in which Sheen’s character was given the boot didn’t help matters.

Public interest in the CBS comedy soared to even greater heights as Sheen continued to lambast his former boss at every opportunity.

After a shocking season 3 finale, Castle and Beckett are back for their fourth run around the TV schedule. Does the premiere fix the issues raised by last year’s conclusion? Will fans finally see some progression between the protagonists, or the case that’s tied the last three years together? Read on to find out.

The Castle premiere picks up right where the season 3 finale left off. After Captain Montgomery is killed during a shady operation including the people behind the murder of Kate Beckett’s (Stana Katic) mother, a sniper shoots Beckett while she’s giving the eulogy at Montgomery’s funeral, causing Castle (Nathan Fillion) to finally confess his love for her.

Beckett is immediately rushed to the hospital, where the precinct’s medical examiner Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones) is waiting. Castle, ...

Click to continue reading ‘Castle’ Season 4 Premiere Review & Discussion

ABC's Monday night super-sleuth series 'Castle' is set for a return in less than a month, but you don't have to wait that long to know what's in store for the premiere. Check out the synopsis for 'Rise', as well as some photos and a video teaser.

Fans of ABC’s investigative series Castle have been biting their collective nails since the cliffhanger conclusion to Season 3. The wait is almost over, and to stir the crowd ABC has released a synopsis for the Season 4 premiere episode, “Rise.”

For those of you who missed last season’s conclusion, Detective Beckett was shot while giving a funeral speech for the late Captain Montgomery. Naturally Richard Castle picks this moment to own up to his true feelings – cut to black. Fans have been left hanging on the proverbial cliff, waiting to see if Beckett survives (no really, some of them are wondering) and what this means for the ever-so-slowly-evolving relationship.

One thing’s for sure: the Castle NYPD precinct needs a new leader. They’ve found one in Captain Victoria Gates, played by Penny Johnson Jerald. She’s a veteran of 24 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (where she ...

Click to continue reading ‘Castle’ Season 4 Premiere Photos & Description Revealed

Castle fans still have just over a month to wait for the much-anticipated return of ABC’s whodunnit but, in the meantime, stars Nathan Fillion and Seamus Dever have spilled the beans on a few big upcoming episodes.

The biggest news for the continuing story may be that of Castle‘s parentage.

Martha (Susan Sullivan) has been tight-lipped about Castle’s father so far, but Fillion is quoted as saying “she knows who the dad is.” That’s pretty non-committal, especially considering the minor daddy drama that’s come before.
Television’s busiest number-crunchers at TV by the Numbers have released their list of the most-recorded shows in America, with ABC’s Modern Family leading the pack. Shows like House, The Event and Supernatural got a significant bump in addition to first-run ratings.

Recorded episodes are making up a bigger and bigger chunk of the television audience, and the trend has been consistent for the 2010-1011 season.

For example, Modern Family scored an average of 11.2 million viewers for every live episode, plus 3.5 million DVR viewers – a whopping 31% increase.

The way that audiences view television is about to change, as Microsoft just announced during E3 2011 that they will be bringing live TV to the Xbox 360.

Announced just moments ago during the Xbox 360 E3 press conference, Microsoft is set to bring live television to millions of Xbox 360 owners around the world.

While the details are scarce, and the overall price-point and actual series availability has yet to be announced, Microsoft has revealed that ABC’s Castle will be amongst the shows available when the service eventually launches.

Proving that they’re attempting to establish a broadcasting medium that has long been hoped for, Microsoft is foregoing any typical broadcast provider and instead is working directly with the content providers to make their shows available during live broadcast.

With the announcement that Xbox 360 around the world will have certain series available to them (according to regional availability), this is the first sign that the landscape is changing – and hopefully Internet television availability will be as widely available ...

Click to continue reading Microsoft Is Bringing Live TV To Xbox 360 Owners

Castle has come a long way in three seasons. Back in 2009, it was just a mid-season replacement with “that guy from Firefly.” It’s since developed into a Monday night staple with a host of fun characters that viewers have come to love.

Does the third season finale deliver on the stories and relationships that have been building for so long?

“Knockout” is the latest Castle story to focus on the series-long arc of the murder of Beckett’s mother. Beckett is still making regular trips to the incarcerated hitman Hal Lockwood (Max Martini) who has knowledge of her mother’s unsolved case. When he kills an inmate who also knows about the crime, he enlists the help of some shadowy figures to escape. As a result, Castle, Beckett ...

Click to continue reading ‘Castle’ Season 3 Finale Review & Discussion

With over 70 television series setting their season finales in the month of May, we put together a handy guide to help you figure out when your favorite shows will be ending this year.

Ready your DVR and replace the batteries in your remote (and, no, switching them around doesn’t count), because it’s that time of year again – to say goodbye to many of your favorite television shows.

While most, if not all, of your favorites shows will be returning this fall, there happens to be a select few series that are signing off for good – even if they’re not yet aware of it. The most notable television show coming to an end this year is Smallville. After 10 years on the air, fans will finally see Clark Kent embrace his destiny and become Superman.

Even though Smallville isn’t the only series coming to an end, it is one of the only shows to have officially scheduled its series finale. As many other series finales ...

Click to continue reading 2011 TV Season Finale Schedule

[Warning: mild Castle season 3 spoilers below]

Season 3 of well-read murder mystery show Castle is drawing to a close, and executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe is teasing fans with new info on the finale.

In an interview yesterday, Marlowe spoke on the various stories and arcs coming to a head in the final episodes of the season. Chief among them in the minds of fans is easily the relationship between playboy writer Castle (Nathan Fillion) and NYPD detective Beckett (Stana Katic).

But those waiting (and waiting, and waiting…) for the starring pair to couple-up will have to wait until next season – at least. Marlowe acknowledged that there’s very little stopping the characters from finally beginning an intimate relationship, but that the writers intend to throw up a roadblock:

Onscreen duos with romantic chemistry like Sam and Diane from Cheers, Ross and Rachel from Friends, Mulder and Scully from The X-Files, and perhaps most infamously, David and Maddie from Moonlighting, have all teased fans with one ecstatic moment built from years of delayed gratification. As television viewers have long known, the time inevitably comes when several seasons worth of romantic tension will finally have to be snapped.

A new teaser for ABC’s Castle hints that the show is ready to join that pantheon of television romances. After nearly three seasons of flirting, innuendo and suggestion, will Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Detective Beckett (Stana Katic) finally seal the deal?

The following clip could be the real deal or just an out of context smooch designed to tease.
The popular and critically-acclaimed comedy Modern Family and the long-running hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy were two of six ABC shows to receive early renewal for a new season. What other shows made the cut? Read on to find out.

Alongside Modern Family – which earned a 2010 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series and is nominated for a 2011 Golden Globe for Best Comedy – ABC opted to renew the two other shows in its Wednesday comedy block: The Middle and Cougar Town.

I caught several episodes of The Middle this past year and really enjoyed the show’s style of comedy (solid and only slightly quirky family humor) as well as its talented cast (featuring Everybody Loves Raymond veteran Patricia Heaton and Scrubs veteran Neil Flynn).

On ABC’s lighthearted murder mystery series Castle, Nathan Fillion’s (Firefly, Serenity) titular author and Stana Katic’s Detective Beckett have been circling each other since the very first episode. Many fans are tired of the song and dance, but their patience may soon be rewarded.

Recently, Katic teased that the January 10th episode would bring the two characters “closer than they’ve ever gotten before.” Considering the steamy conclusion to the second season last Spring, that doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for speculation.

When Entertainment Weekly spoke to Katic before the American Music Awards last weekend, she was eager to spill some plot details – but before doing so, Katic wanted to reassure Castle fans that having the two leads in a close personal relationship wouldn’t ruin the fast, chatty dynamic the show has ...

Click to continue reading ‘Castle’: Are Beckett and Castle Finally Getting Together?

The universe of ABC’s weekly whodunit is about to get a lot more confusing. See if you can follow: in Castle, Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) plays a millionaire crime novelist akin to James Patterson, who follows NYPD detective Kate Beckett (played by Stana Katic) in order to get inspiration for his series of novels.

Despite all the hoopla and what appeared to be NBC directives of enforced support for The Jay Leno Show, and pulling scripted dramas en masse, The Jay Leno Show is not faring as well as could be expected.

NBC made a reasonable pitch, declaring how different the show would be… if you count pulling the desk off the set and rearranging the same routines as different, then fine, it’s different. Otherwise, I’m not sure what the change is. And to boot, viewers aren’t impressed.

At least it doesn’t look good from last Monday night where The Jay Leno Show pulled in 4.6 million viewers… and was bested by everything on the air except One Tree Hill on The CW, Gossip Girl, again from The CW and, well… huh. That’s it.

Dancing with the Stars, at its peak, had 18.4 million viewers ...

Click to continue reading How’s the Jay Leno Show Faring These Days?

Quick, think of the most underrated, under-appreciated Canadian in Hollywood! If you said Céline Dion then I will hunt you down and flog you with a mackerel. The correct answer is Nathan Fillion. This 37 year old, chiseled jaw specimen of a man (my wife made me say that) has an acting career going back to 1993 with several small roles in films and shows you probably never heard of until 1998 in Saving Private Ryan.
Can you believe it?! Nathan Fillion is the lead in a television series that made it to a second season!

Castle, the new hit ABC series is moving full steam ahead into its second season and it looks like it just might have a bright future.

I don’t get it. Everyone who watches Fillion on screen immediately falls in love with the guy and the characters he plays, yet he’s had two shows in a row canceled on him early. Join us as we look back at some key moments in Fillion’s career and talk about his recent successes…

Although, he made a name for himself with Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place alongside Ryan Reynolds, Nathan Fillion’s cult following began with Joss Whedon’s Firefly, which was incredible, but was unfairly treated by ...

Click to continue reading Nathan Fillion’s Castle Stands Strong

Shall we get on with it?

Big Reminder:

The DVD movie, Stargate Ark of Truth will be on Friday night on The Sci-Fi Channel! Don’t forget!

Viewer Numbers From Last Week

As of Wednesday, these are some of the viewer estimates from some shows we like, and some we think you may follow.
