Call Me By Your Name (2018)

Based on the 2007 novel of the same name, Call Me By Your Name tells the story of Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), the 17-year-old son of a professor whose life is changed forever when one of his father's grad students, Oliver (Armie Hammer), comes to stay with his family in Northern Italy during the summer of 1983. Initially indifferent to the older Oliver, the relationship between the two men blossoms into a passionate affair over the course of the summer. Michael Stuhlbarg and Esther Garrel also star.

Summary

Summer of 1983, Northern Italy. An American-Italian is enamored by an American student who comes to study and live with his family. Together they share an unforgettable summer full of music, food, and romance that will forever change them. This film is based on the novel of the same name by André Aciman and serves as the final installment of director Luca Guadagnino's thematic Desire trilogy, which also includes I Am Love and A Bigger SplashCall Me By Your Name premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017 and earned widespread critical acclaim, with many praising it for its poignant portrayal of first love. In particular, Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet's performances have received high marks, with the former being seen as one of the frontrunners in the Best Supporting Actor race at the Oscars.
