Dragons get to Kick Ass at the box office again; Avatar breaks records…again; Olivia Wilde and Hugh Jackman spread some Butter; Samuel L. Jackson and Kellan Lutz play Deathgames; there is A Haunting in Georgia; Shawn and Robert Saitzyk’s listen to The Last Beat and is Jamie Kennedy Randy in Scream 4?

Box Office

It has been a tight weekend at the box office. Kick-Ass and How To Train Your Dragon are neck and neck for the number one position and we had to wait until Monday to discover if the violent superhero flick scored the top spot [See below for results]. At the very least, Kick-Ass has underperformed. The comic book adaptation was expected to maybe hit the high 20’s, dollar wise. With roughly $20 million in the kitty so far, it looks like Kick-Ass will be profitable – but international grosses will tell if we see the ...

Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: April 11, 2010

This week:

There’s a Clash of the Titans on Date Night; It looks like cellmates Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor won’t be getting released in I Love Phillip Morris; Butter won’t melt for Twilight star Ashley Greene; Rowan Atkinson is Johnny English again; Clive Owen and Daniel Bruhl are Intruders.

Box Office

It looks like Clash of the Titans made it two straight weeks at the top of the box office. The big budget 3D (although not very good 3D, apparently) action film grossed an estimated $28 million over the weekend to bring its total up to $111 million. The film should top out at around $150 million. Titans has had mixed reviews at best, but it is Sam Worthington’s third $100 million dollar grosser in a row (not to mention Avatar’s $750 million domestic haul). Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: April 12, 2009

This week:

Miley is smiley over the box office; Gyllenhaal joins Thompson and Fiennes in Nanny McPhee; Terrance Howard may not be in Iron Man 2 – but he will star with Method Man and Gooding Jr in George Lucas’ Red Tails; Jennifer Garner likes Butter and we discover Burt Dickenson: The Most Powerful Magician on Planet Earth.

Box Office

Well if you thought that Fast and Furious’ $70+ million gross was impressive last week then you’ll be amazed that the Hannah Montana The Movie with Miley Cyrus banked $34 million over the weekend. That’s enough to mend Billy Ray’s Achy Breaky Heart.

Fast & Furious sped past the magic $100 million mark with a weekend total of $28 million. Down an okay 59% after its mega opening the Vin Diesel/ Paul Walker pic has now made off with $118 million.
