The TV finale season is upon us! With over 70 television season finales airing during the month of May, bidding a summer farewell to your favorite television series may not be as easy as you think. Fortunately, we’ve attempted to take much of the hassle out of your upcoming viewing by creating a complete schedule for the May season finales.

‘Bones’ Season 7: Vincent Nigel-Murray’s Memorial Revealed!

Following the heartbreaking death of beloved squintern Vincent Nigel-Murray (Ryan Cartwright) in the penultimate episode of Bones season 6, series creator Hart Hanson revealed that a memorial had been created for their fellow comrade in the Jeffersonian Lab.

Unfortunately, Mr. Nigel-Murray’s memorial has never made its way on the air – and with the birth of Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) baby soon approaching, the producers may not be able to find an appropriate time to reveal the beautiful remembrance that hangs on the laboratory wall.

This week is void of any significant Blu-ray re-releases, but there are some great new releases hitting shelves. Comic book fans will get a special addition to their collection when Green Lantern releases on DVD and Blu-ray this Friday. In the meantime, a pair of comedies and a Terrence Malick drama also arrive on home video.

A few low-profile titles hit DVD and Blu-ray this week, some of which some of you will be interested in. A pair of summer movies, Indian Summer and Camp Nowhere hit Blu-ray in case you have a bit of nostalgia you’re willing to invest in. Also on shelves are uber-indies like Terri and Beautiful Boy.

‘Modern Family’ & ‘Hawaii Five-0′ Top DVR Ratings; ‘Supernatural’ & ‘Fringe’ Gain

Television’s busiest number-crunchers at TV by the Numbers have released their list of the most-recorded shows in America, with ABC’s Modern Family leading the pack. Shows like House, The Event and Supernatural got a significant bump in addition to first-run ratings.

Recorded episodes are making up a bigger and bigger chunk of the television audience, and the trend has been consistent for the 2010-1011 season.

For example, Modern Family scored an average of 11.2 million viewers for every live episode, plus 3.5 million DVR viewers – a whopping 31% increase.

Following in footsteps of last year’s shocking finale, the Bones season 6 finale not only managed to top the 6-month separation storyline, but also entirely shift the tone of one of the most fanatical shows on television.

A death at a bowling alley sets the stage for the sixth season finale, entitled “A Change in the Game.” With a dead body laughably being found in a pin setter, Booth and Brennan go undercover to find whoever is behind the murder. After Booth proves to dominate the lanes, the two stumble on to the mysterious tale of the bowling alley.

Fox Orders J.J. Abrams’ ‘Alcatraz’, ‘Bones’ Spinoff & A Pair of Comedies

Fox has ordered a quartet of new shows for the fall TV season: J.J. Abrams’ time-traveling Alcatraz, Bones spinoff The Finder, The New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel and I Hate My Teenage Daughter starring Jaime Pressly.

Alcatraz has been in the works for a while, and should make a good companion for Fox’s other Abrams sci-fi, Fringe. The new show is about a group of Alcatraz inmates and staff that vanished from the prison in the 1960s, only to reappear in modern times. Lost favorite Jorge Garcia and The Tudors‘ Sam Neill are set to star.

Fox Renews ‘Bones’ For Season 7

Procedural fans rejoice! Fox’s crime drama Bones will continue sluething for another year. The network confirmed the news in a press release today.

As late as two weeks ago there was worry that negotiations between 20th Century Fox and the production companies that create Bones would fall through. But it seems they’ve got their ducks in a row, and the popular series will return for a seventh year.

May is a very late time to announce a renewal for a series as well-established and steady as Bones. Of course it’s hardly unprecedented, even within Bones’ own history: two years ago the show was renewed for seasons five and six around the same time.

‘Bones’ Season 7 Looks Promising; Deschanel’s Pregnancy May Shorten Season

Fox’s investigation drama Bones is in uncertain territory as its season draws to a close. While a renewal agreement has not yet been reached, showrunner Hart Hanson says that he’s “confident” that the seventh season will happen.

Hanson spoke with reporters in a conference call and addressed the long wait for a Bones renewal announcement from Fox. “I’m very confident we will come to a deal.” He elaborated on the negotiation timeline, and guessed that a final decision would be made between now and May 15th.

One week after Bones returns from its winter hiatus on January 20th, David Boreanaz will be jumping back into the director’s chair for “The Bullet in the Brain” – the conclusion of the multi-season Gravedigger storyline.

The episode, which airs on January 27th, will kick-off a multi-episode arc which begins with the Gravedigger, Heather Taft, being gunned down by a unknown sniper while being transported to court. As the title suggests, the murder of the Gravedigger will be Brennan’s newest case to solve.

Over 50 new series premiered on television throughout last year, and combined with the series already running on air, it’s fair to say that 2010 provided more new and continual television viewing opportunities than any other year previously. Sure, that largely had to do with NBC completely ruining their primetime line-up and attempting to fix it with a slew of new programming, but we’ll talk about that a little later.

Hart Hanson Prepping ‘Bones’ Spinoff For Fox

Bones fans will have to make room in their viewing schedule, as series creator Hart Hanson is currently working on a spin-off of his popular television show that will based off of “The Locator” book series by Richard Greener.

The new series will follow the Locator, Walter Sherman, who is a brash, eccentric man in his 20s-30s with the ability to find people that nobody else can – including those who do not wish to be found.

The only caveat in Hanson’s newly revealed endeavor is that he, the rest of the Bones producers (which includes series stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel), Fox and 20th Century Fox TV are able to find an actor that can successfully carry a series on their own. After the fifth season season finale (I didn’t much care for it) of Bones, I had some questions for show creator Hart Hanson. Thankfully, Comic-Con provided me the perfect opportunity to bring my concerns straight to the source.

Of course, being the Bones fan that I am, I less “brought my concerns” and more “giggled at everything he said.” I still managed to keep my composure however, while asking him about whether or not he was worried about the direction he chose to take series in. I couldn’t have been happier when he said, “Yes.”
