Things have been pretty quiet recently in regards to the Weinsteins’ planned remake of An American Werewolf in London. Fans that were hoping they’d retreat from the idea with their tails between their legs are in for a bit of disappointment – the project is still moving forward and now it’s picked up a writer.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Fernley Phillips is in talks with the brothers to help deliver “a modern spin” on the horror/comedy classic. Phillips’ only produced credit to date is the Jim Carrey thriller The Number 23.

It's October, the month where our thoughts turn to Halloween and scary movies - here's one list of films that scared the heck out of one of our writers.

Ya’ know, since it’s Halloween coming up at the end of the month, I thought it would be appropriate to make a list of the top 5 movies that, for whatever reason, just scared the hell out of me. It may not be the entire movie, maybe it was just a particular scene/moment; they may not be the technically BEST horror movies (they may not even be strictly “horror” per se.), but just something about them had me hiding behind the pillow, jumping at every noise, looking through the cracks in my fingers, thinking about it for days afterwards, and… changing my underwear — okay, too much information…

Before I get on with the list, just know that (like every list) this is purely opinion and therefore it obviously isn’t going to ...

Click to continue reading Top 5 Movies That Scared the Hell Out of Me

Yes, we're tired of remakes - but is there any chance this could be a good one?

Sigh…

The news of remakes of classic horror movies just keeps on coming with word that Dimension Films (The Weinstein Company’s genre film division) have acquired the rights to remake An American Werewolf in London.

Screen Rant reported last June that original American Werewolf director, John Landis, said that Hollywood has been wanting to remake his movie for ages, but the fact that he owned the rights were stopping them. Well, it appears Landis has sadly buckled and sold those rights, which will eventually deliver us a remake of his horror masterpiece.

Bloody Disgusting has nabbed the exclusive that Dimension has acquired the remake rights to An American Werewolf in London – BD was also the site that reported on the rumblings of AAWIL remake over a year ago. Some of you out there may remember ...

Click to continue reading The Weinsteins Remaking ‘An American Werewolf In London?’
