Mickey Rourke is not an actor who is known for his circumspect actions or speech. He has been enjoying Hollywood’s warm embrace over the past several years, however. So it was somewhat surprising (and wholly refreshing) to hear Rourke speak with an intriguing combination of humility and candor about his recent and past experiences as an actor at this weekends press event for director Tarsem Singh’s latest visual extravaganza, Immortals. Rourke provided some insight into his reservations about his potential participation in Sin City 2, as well as his frustrations while working on Iron Man 2.

’13′ U.S. Trailer: Jason Statham Bets On Your Life

It’s not often that a foreign filmmaker ends up helming an English-language remake of their original work, but that’s the case with 13 – a reworking of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-winning Noir tale 13 Tzameti from Georgian writer/director Géla Babluani.

An international teaser for 13 was released all the way back in November 2010 and it painted Babluani’s remake as being a chillingly bleak and nail-biting drama/thriller. Does the newly-released domestic trailer support that idea?

’13′ Trailer Is Ominous and Suspenseful

Hedging bets on a horse race is one thing, but gambling on the outcome of a thirteen-man round of Russian Roulette is an entirely different matter, as is the case for the nail-biting thriller, 13.

A trailer has been released for 13, which stars Sam Riley, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke, and Jason Statham as gentlemen who get involved in a viciously twisted underground world of gambling, where the stakes involve the lives of men, each of whom is identified solely by a single number.

French filmmaker Géla Babluan wrote and directed the thriller 13 Tzameti, which walked away with the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2006. Yes, it’s that time of the week again.

This week:

1. Rob Reiner will direct the action-adventure film Book of Shadows.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“The story follows a young man who must embark on the perilous journey of first love and face many trials of maturity while on the dangerous quest to close a mythical tome called “Book of Shadows” in order to restore balance to the world.”

Sounds like it could bring the director back to his Princess Bride heyday.
