Sweet Transformers Concept Art

3 years ago by Rob Keyes

Today we’ve got a collection of concept art by artist Ben Procter (thanks to the very cool site ConceptArtWorld.com) that feature a ton of characters as well as some of key objects from Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

As you’ll see, Procter’s art is amazing and he’s worked on a ton of major feature films before including the Matrix sequels, Superman Returns, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and many others.

Unfortunately, most characters in the film weren’t given any characterization (most of them weren’t given a name or any dialogue in the movie) and so the concept art for Revenge of the Fallen represents all the characterization we get of many of the Cybertronians featured in the film.

Some of the robot designs in the movie were really cool but some are too extreme. The Alice character in particular had zero purpose in the film other than to take away time from the characters we care more about and make the film make less sense.

Here are the twins in Icecream truck mode. I didn’t dig these characters at all and many didn’t find them funny or cool – they didn’t fit within the movies and took away from what viewers wanted to see. So, of course they were made the stars of the film over the other characters.

Note the awesome symmetrical designs of the faces of The Twins:

the Alice character had the same purpose as every other decepticon – to get the information from Sam. How hard is that to understand?

Why defend a character that complicated a story as bad as the one in TF2? It was never explaiained why or how transformers can look like humans. If the point was information why didnt the decepticons replace people sam already knew or send a sam lookalike after megan fox’s character? Eh…whatever, movie still made a trillion dollars, and now Bay knows you can put suger on sh*! call it gold and people will buy it up.

why does the concept art always look cooler then what they actually use in film? x-men origins wolverine ,and the other x-films had sentinels, beak, angel, and deadpool that looked killer awesome. i wish they would use that in the films.

PS. I really like the concept art for the fallen that looks alot like the decepticon insignia. Noticed the concept of the twins didnt have a gold tooth, whose idea was it to add that? Huh, I wonder….BAYSPLOSIONS!!!!!

If you read the note on the optimus concept you see it says the truck trailer becomes the powerup armor, weird cause we’ve never saw him with a trailer in the movie. But yeah he does become taller because the head and feet and alot of other parts are still the same size, so its not a larger scale.

Unfortunately for us, a lot of the concept art was tweaked for Bay’s pur

“Corny” is probably the best word to descrbe what Bay has done with the TF franchise because “disappintment” just doesn’t capture it all. Robots with sharp teeth, buck teeth, beards, canes, etc is just not what I had imagined and it’s plain ridiculous. They look skinny, weak, and frail unlike the solid and studly Japanese looking robots like the originals. Stick to the source material for a change, Bay. You’ve completely removed the look and feel of the TFs. Without Peter Cullen’s voice, I wouldn’t know what I was watching. Bay will F up the Dinobots like he did Devastator and the rest if the troops.

Damn! I wander who chooses what to put in. It always seems with these tf concepts that the coolest are never in the movie. Maybe these artists should direct the third one. Any people want more tf art like this, look uo Josh Nizzi. Amazing cool art like this stuff.

Art doesn’t translate to movies or it would like cartoon.

i think this movie was just amazing.. nd u guys shud really cut bay some slack.. so he didnt stick to the original script and TFs.. that’s the beauty of it… to copy something is not creativity,,, its when u produce something of ur own.. people need brains for that..
liked the construction TFs.. pretty cool..!
