Having been recently renewed for a tenth season, it’s pretty clear that The CW’s saga of angels, demons, ghouls, monsters and brotherly love – otherwise known as Supernatural – is a certified success. Supernatural‘s cup is overflowing so much, in fact, that it’s spilling out into a spin-off show called Supernatural: Bloodlines, the backdoor pilot for which will be aired as next week’s episode of Supernatural.

Supernatural: Bloodlines is, according to the synopsis, about the “various mafia-esque monster families that, unknowingly to humans, run the underbelly of Chicago.” Their hold on the city is about to be challenged, however, as a bold and newly-minted Hunter Ennis Roth (Lucien Laviscount) is tracking them down.

The CW has now released a gallery of stills from the pilot episode (titled, you guessed it, “Bloodlines”), showing Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) meeting the main players of the new show. Most of the beasts have regular human forms, but there’s one guy in a black hood with a Freddy Krueger glove who looks unquestionably dangerous.

Check out the cream of the crop from said Bloodlines image gallery, below (for more, head over to the CW‘s main site):

Supernatural: Bloodlines‘ plot seems to be taking a page out of True Blood‘s book(s) by throwing in a dash of forbidden romance between the warring monster clans, as shapeshifter David (Nathaniel Bozulic) and werewolf Violet Durant (Melissa Roxburgh) make gooey eyes at one another across the battle lines. There will likely be a lot more to the supernatural politics in this show than just deciding which body part to chop off first.

Supernatural: Bloodlines also stars Sean Faris (Pretty Little Liars) as a werewolf called Julian Durant, Danielle Savre (Heroes) as Margo Hayden, a shapeshifter, and Stephen Martines (Burn Notice) as Freddie Costa, a Chicago police officer tasked with keeping order in a city overrun by big-toothed monsters in human disguise.

Does this spin-off sound appealing to you Supernatural fans out there? Tell us what you think of the cast, location and premise in the comments.

  1. Lets just get through this.

  2. The premise sounds so horribly clichéd that I don’t have any faith whatsoever in that spin-off. Warm Bodies at least had the sense to make fun of that whole supernatural Romeo & Juliet gooble-de-gook.

The whole idea of making that spin-off is horrible: “Hey, let’s make a Supernatural spin-off show and remove the one element that make Supernatural successful. That’ll work!”

They only Supernatural spin-offs that could work in my book are a show that revolved around Bobby and possibly Sheriff Mills, or a show about Ellen, Jo and Ash. The latter could have been called “Supernatural: Roadhouse” and be for Supernatural what Deep Space Nine was for Star Trek: The Next Generation. But unfortunately those ships have sailed.

  3. LOve the supernaural:roadhouse idea and agree with all above comments :)

  4. yes bruv @thelostwinchester far by the best idea i have heard i would so watch supernatural roadhouse, ellen,jo,ash or about bobby bruv u should be front runner for the new show, seriously tho the new spin-off i have no faith in it, the concept is stupid one of the reasons i love supernatural is the scenery they go to different places all the time as compared to bloodlines which is situated in one place, good luck with show even tho it will get cancelled.

  5. Supernatural: Roadhouse sounds like a winner AND this: Supernatural: Bloodlines is, according to the synopsis, about the “various mafia-esque monster families that, unknowingly to humans, run the underbelly of Chicago.” as opposed to vampires running New Orleans in the Originals.

    • I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The spin off should of been one of two choices.

      A. A wild west set Series Supernatural: Colt about… you guessed it the making of the Colt and all the antics that happened to influence such an endeavor. The setting alone would be amazing

      B. A 50′s set Men of Letters series. No flashy tech not that supernatural uses flashy tech much. but modern enough to be relative

  6. Supernatural is the only CW series that isn’t “CW-y”. It looks as though the network didn’t like that, but had to appreciate its success, so it decided to make a “CW-y” version of Supernatural. Meh.

    • Completely agree.

    • Arrow…

But yeah. Supernatural is very non-CWish, and that’s one thing that’s great about it.

  7. Oh god… More CW teen romance crap.
    It really does sound awful.

  8. Good God… this has bogus written all over it!

  9. I read supernatural mafia-esque families in Chicago and I have immediately dismissed this show because I am so disgruntled that a good Dresden Files show hasn’t happened yet.

  10. Terrible, terrible. please kill Supernatural, for good. First season was awesome.

  11. The plot still reminds me if the C. Thomas Howl show Kindred. And that was not good.

  12. Hopefully Dean will reference how True Blood: Twilight this show sounds :D

  13. As a die-hard supernatural fan from Chicago…. I cringe when i think about checking out the pilot for this Lame@$$ spin off…. Eric NEEDS to come back and finish this show off right. My prediction is, this spin off will get canned after 8 episodes

  14. This week’s vampire episode was great, though. Good character moments, pretty tense in some scenes and no goofy-ass geek-pandering sh*t. Almost good old Supernatural, except for the lack of a classic rock song.

  15. Come on guys don’t write off the new show before it even starts. As a long time fan of Supernatural,I remember it too was struggling it’s first seasons and look at it now 9 seasons old and still going strong.
I do hope that they do make Supernatural Season 10 the final season.

  16. This spin-off seems to be appealing to the vampire, teeny-bopper crowd. How many more vampire shows do you need to have? It doesn’t seem to be related to Supernatural at all.

  17. Watched this show yesterday….. PASS. I cannot see this spin off being a hit to be fair.
