What did you think of the premiere? ‘Supernatural’ Season 7 Premiere Review & Discussion

With less than a month before Supernatural season 7 premieres, it’s time to take a look at what’s in store for Sam and Dean – now that Castiel has taken over heaven. Forget hell; it’s the wrath of Castiel that everyone must now fear.

In the Supernatural season 6 finale, fans not only bore witness to Castiel (Misha Collins) becoming the new god, but they also felt his vengeful wrath as Castiel had smitten the ever opposing Raphael with but a snap of his fingers. From the looks of it, such smiting shall continue.

In the Supernatural season 7 teaser trailer (see below), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are given simple instructions from heaven’s new authority: “Be thankful for my mercy. If you rise up, I will strike you down.” Of course, when has that ever stopped Sam and Dean?

You can see the teaser trailer below:

Contained within are quick glimpses of what’s to come in the upcoming season. In it, fans are able to see what lengths the Winchester brothers are willing to go to in order stop their once angelic friend from wreaking havoc on Earth. With passing shots of Death (Julian Richings) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) returning, it quickly becomes apparent that it’s going to take more than just two boys from Kansas to bring down this heavenly father.

Interestingly enough, there also appears to be some glimpses of Castiel being hit with a bright light – and then shown with a look of disorientation. Could these be the scenes where Castiel is finally knocked from his thrown in heaven?

Castiel Supernatural The CW Supernatural Season 7 Preview Trailer: In Cass We FearYou don’t want to see Cass when he’s angry

It’s been known awhile that Misha Collins will not be a series regular for the upcoming season. With a simple guest starring role slated for Supernatural season 7, the number of episodes that Collins will be appearing in will be few (think 8 or fewer). From the Supernatural panel at Comic-Con 2011, we know that Jo, Crowley, Sheriff Jodie Mills, and Death will be returning this season.

Apart from that, one can only speculate whether or not Castiel’s story-arc of god will be extended throughout the entirety of the season or simply wrapped up in the first half. Whatever the decision may be, it appears that Supernatural season 7 will be as entertaining as ever.

  1. Can’t wait..

  2. Aw man I work, I work fridays :-(

    • James my friend…DVR…..

    • friday nights dude

  3. woot

  4. Gee, Season 6 has just wound up on Aussie TV, so I guess sometime next year might get to see it,

    • Always Youtube or google project tv and you will get a website(first one listed in results) with links to the show and a lot more other shows and movies :D

    • You can watch the new episodes on Hulu.com, or buy episodes from Amazon.com, to watch on your computer.

      • Hulu.com only works if your IP is american. There are ways around it, but other sites like surfthechannel.com or torrent sites are an option.

  5. I’m giddy like a 4 year old in a candy shop.

  6. Wow, looks awesome!

    two thoughts:
    1. think the real God saw what Cas is doing here and got rid of him and took over the body of that poor, lowly little CPA (or whatever it was) and has finally shown his face, not quite literally?

    2. In season 5 when Dean was sitting with Death the first time and talking, Death mentions that he’s been around as long as God and he’ll be there to “retire” God at some point in time. Think he’s been brought in to take care of Cas?

  7. I hope Supernatural ties it up this season or next season. I’d hate to see it go down in flames. Surprisingly, it’s still on top. Go out on top.

  8. love this show i cant wait for season 7 and beyond as long as it stays this good

  9. Im not sure how I feel about this, I mean making Cas out to be all crazed with power is not something that really fits with me. I think that the story should have ended in season 5 (as most do) and season 6 could have just been a way to wrap things up. I really dont know where we are left to go from here.

Are we really going to reexamine Sam and Dean’s relationship? (u know we are)…it has been done way too many times.

IMO a way to make the season still somewhat interesting and engaging and not just the same old stuff would be to kill off Bobby. I think that is the only card that they have left to play. I mean I love the character but it will create a lot of tension and anguish. Killing off Cas, not smart….you need him around to fight for his redemption and regain the bros’ trust.
Also take it back to the beginning, bring back Jeffrey Dean MOrgan (the boys’ father) and bring back their other brother from hell (what ever happened to him?)
Also go back to the devil story (he’s still alive and trapped in hell). Is he trying to get out and to escape? Cant he be killed to stop him once and for all.

Also where is God, bring him in at some point ( probably a voice would be good and then maybe his presence towards the last few episodes)
Make this season big and end it after that….

    • Wasn’t the half brother Adam killed by Cas? And I do like the father si would love to have him back. And Gabriel too! I supposed since Msiha Collins won’t be a FT character anymore, the first few epis will resolve the “god” issue so the brothers can do other things outside the angel storyline.

      • Cas didn’t kill Adam. Adam was killed by a demon. Cas brought Adam back to life, & he became Michael’s vessel. He & Sam fell into Hell with Michael & Lucifer(who was possessing Sam), & Sam was released from Hell but Adam wasn’t.

  10. Anyone thought about this: Maybe Cas is not Cas but a creature from purgatory. Sam took over lucifer, why couldn’t a monster take Cas?

  11. looking forward to everything except jo returning. there is absolutely no point to it all. remember when grandpa returned and how well that worked out? anyway looks to be 10x better than last season, which is saying something cuz i loved last season.

  12. The teaser felt very different, thats good.

  13. ya’ll have convinced me to watch with your comments alone, haha. anyone know where i can start the first season online?

  14. H0. . . .LY. . . . .CRAP!!!!!

  15. Alright since the beginning of season 4 I have been saying this. You never hear anything about “Jesus”. Minus the christmas special is the only time I heard Jesus mentioned. I still say with the story how it is and how it has developed, Dean is the only one in the show who has been tempted by heaven, tempted by hell, fought both, and still wound up on top. You want further consideration? The Book of John is the main book every christian believes in most. Mary was the mother of Jesus. Jesus was not tempted by heaven or hell or the earthly desires, he fought for humans. To add to this, Jesus was a good son who believed always in his father and followed Gods commandments. Let us compare. John wrote a book but its a good reference, Mary was Dean’s mother. Dean not being tempted by heaven or hell has fought for saving as many people as he can. Dean has always been known as the “Good Son” who follows his dads orders with out question.

To further this theory, Dean has had the help of Heaven, if Chuck was God he was always watched over. Dean has risen from the dead (Who hasn’t so I can discount that one.) Dean having always been shown to have the softer side towards God, he wanted to believe, he wanted to give faith, but angels are douche bags. Michael, Lucifer, Jesus. Adam, Sam, Dean. Bible is big on trinity. Father Son The holy spirit.

I am still very interested where the story will go but honestly this is the only logical outcome. Especially knowing the bible and studied theology. One of the things I loved about season six was as Cas put it… “We took the script, tore it apart and ripped it up…” But there are only a few problems I have with the Heaven War ordeal. Just some simple questions ones I wished were touched on.

1: What the hell is Joshua doing?
2: If Chuck indeed wasn’t God, where the hell did he go?
3: Why didn’t Cas get NON-ANGEL help in heaven? Ash being my main point?
4: Why did we not see anything from Gabriel/Loki/Trickster? (Yes I know he’s ‘Dead’ but if Cas was brought back why not Gabriel?)
5: Will we get an answer on where Jo and Ellen have been? Because it was made clear in Heaven with Ash in season five that they didn’t end up there?

I think that is five reasonably good questions. Please let me know what you all think.

    Laith

    • Ok Laith I feel u on a bunch of that but let me shed some light. I highly doubt the show higher ups will EVER put Jesus into the show because it immediately dismisses all other religions. There are simply too many other religions that believe in God but not in Christ. If they did put a storyline in they would most certainly not have him as the son of God. It’s just not a good business move.

The only questions you asked that I think we will get answers for are on Joshua and Jo & Ellen. Well Jo at least. We’ve gotten no word on Ellen returning.

I find it strange that no one is even mentioning the only being in the Supernatural universe that had both Angels and Demons scared for their life. The Antichrist child. He is still out there and is a free agent and is VERY powerful. And besides that, who made him? The demon that impregnated his mom was never identified and it had to be someone with sum serious juice to pull off a virgin birth. Might be the only one aside from God who can stand against Cas.

    • hey man, i agree with all that, but i really think im missing something here, cuz i DONT remember cass becoming the “new” god

  16. Why does he have to be the villain now??I love CASTIEL. and i always will.

  19. ok,so first i think that laith has some amazing points, but so does jay, now not saying im putting laiths ideas down, but, this is SUPERNATURAL, not some show about christian genocide…….furthermore if dean was really the son of god, how come no one came to teach him any powers that he shud have, like ruby did with sam. Sam and Dean have been fighting off every religion since the start of this damn series. but honestly its getting worse and worse ever season. I mean i loved season one when they only had to worry about the monsters they were fighting and not about angels and demons. i still watch it, and always will till the very end, but they need to step up their game a little bit and start making things interesting. And all the soft crap at the end of EVERY episode, its getting kind of old and i know someone will agree with this. all in all, the series is still in the top and thats why they need to pay attention to the scripts and story for each episode. THE second they slip up with this kind of series, they’re done. Im only 15 but im a loyal fanatic of supernatural, but they are running out of ideas and need to think of something fast

    • Actually they’ve been fighting demons since season 1 episode 4 “The Phantom Traveler”. It wasn’t till season 4 that the angels got involved which if they had not Dean would not have gotten out of hell, and furthermore I think the angels and more of the plots and twists.

  20. right i do want to know if supernatural will be bringing back the anti-christ kid all he did was vanish, also joshua does need to come into it again maybe sam and dean will track him down or he will track them down. bring back adam(brother) and the mother of all storyline wasnt that eve? if it was where is adam? cane and abel? what ya’ll think??

  21. so pshchked for it yay

  22. Can’t wait, but I still need to get caught up. Just finished season 3, although I did see some of seasons 4, 5, and 6′s episodes, but I’ll have to buy the dvd’s. It is kinda sad that castiel is going to be the bad guy, but it is a good and suspenceful plot twist and I can’t wait to see where the season goes.

    • Its on TNT everyday at 10 and 11 am if you can watch it or record it. got my whole family hooked lol.

    • You can watch them on letbobwatchthis .net (i think its changed its name to 1channel. ch)

  23. Im beyond excited.
I wish it would get here fasterr!!

  24. I am absolutely excited for this!!!!!! I love this show and the actors. Misha Collins is my favorite

  25. I. Love watching supernatural and have watched all rerunns on. Tnnt plus catching up on the cu for the new ones. I reallyy hope this show will continue with more seasons

  26. i love supernatural i cannot wait till it gets here

  27. does any one else think that they are trying to push dean out of the show? I think that they are going to end up trying to kill Dean off so Castiel and Sam can have the show for there own. i love supernatural i have watched it since the first episode and have all the seasons and i have to say i wish they would get back to hunting monsters and prank wars and back to the old sam and dean and of course bobby. PS i love dean he is my fav.

  28. If we’re going from Season 7 to a feature film, the audience will need to see all of its favorites available… Sam, Dean, Bobby, Jo, Ellen, Rufus, Crowley, Death, Balthazar and especially Castiel. It will take the entire group to pull off a decent feature, and we, the loyal audience, will be in line for our overpriced movie ticket (repeatedly) if the producers will supply the cast in Season 7 (and 8, CW willing).

I mean, is there anyone on that list who doesn’t want a hit movie?

  29. i am already excited cus i am waiting to watch the whole season
