The tale of two brothers who try to save people and the world has resonated with viewers for many seasons. On the way, Sam and Dean have grown as people and hunters. That character growth pulls viewers in. On top of this core relationship, we have met several side characters along the way that have been important to their journey.  There is no shortage of characters that we miss, as each season featured the deaths of several favorites. As Sam and Dean suffered the loss of these characters, so did we.

So far, Season 15 has been a send-off for several characters. We have gotten to see characters that were alive but not as active in Sam and Dean's lives as they once were. We saw Garth and learned that he named his twin boys after Sam and (wait for it) Castiel. We learned that Benny, Dean's old friend, and favorite vampire, didn't survive purgatory this time. Still, there are old characters that we miss, and ones that we feel should be phased out or evolve.

We Miss: Missouri

Missouri Moseley talks to Sam and Dean in Supernatural

While Missouri never developed into a major character and was in fewer scenes than many other characters on this list, every scene Missouri was in turned into gold. She was funny, gifted, and insightful. She literally had the gift, able to see spirits and the future, but she also had a good intuition about people. Additionally, she added a connection between the past (when John started the life after Mary's death) and the present day.

Missouri remembered the boys as children, joking about how weird Dean looked as a kid. The actress who played her, Loretta Devine, is too good and deserving of a reprise, even if it's just a cameo.

Should Be Phased Out: Donatello

Keith Szarabajka as Donatello in Supernatural.

Donatello, the prophet without a soul (thanks to Amara's munchies), isn't as active in the Supernatural storyline as he once was. However, he's still someone that Sam and Dean call for help. When they wanted to figure out what was going on with Chuck, they tried to use Donatello. It ultimately didn't work well since Chuck could inhabit this messenger of god and use Donatello as both a listening device and a speakerphone.

While we do love Donatello and he has lasted longer than other prophets, we want to either see more of him or less. He's been one-note since Amara ate his soul, making that the only interesting thing about him. Give him more depth or phase him out.

We Miss: Crowley

Crowley died a noble death, sacrificing himself for the Winchesters. While some deaths on the show have seemed temporary or we get to see the character in spirit form, Crowley's has been definite. He's never returned to the show since his heroic death.

We could benefit from some Crowley in Season 15. His affection to the boys (especially to Dean) is strong. More so, he can call the Winchesters out, and make fun of them in the best possible way. We'd also love to see a reunion with his mother, Rowena (now the queen of hell).

Should Be Phased Out: Claire

Claire Novak turning back while looking serious in Supernatural.

From previews for the upcoming episode, we know that both Jody and Claire come back into the narrative. While some fans advocate for Jody being phased out, we advocate that Claire should be phased out instead. Claire had an interesting narrative, the daughter of Jimmy (Castiel's vessel) and a self-proclaimed hunter, she showed us and Castiel what happens to families when humans are turned into vessels. Resilient, she showed a connection to Dean, as both had to grow up quickly and weren't really granted a childhood.

However, in latter seasons, Claire's character has become flat. She's like an annoying Scrappy-Doo, whiny and a know-it-all. We'd love to see her develop more, but if that doesn't happen--she should be phased out.

We Miss: Gabriel

Richard Speight Jr. as Gabriel in Supernatural

Gabriel was the celestial brother who both approachable and clever. Masquerading as the trickster for years, he learned to love life and humans. A few times on the show, we thought we lost him, only to find that he played a trick on us and was still alive. However, his final death was pretty final, and we miss him.

It'd be good for Jack to meet a member of his celestial family who would value and love him. Gabriel would be a great uncle and would help Jack out, especially with resurrected Jack's most difficult task yet.

Should Be Phased Out: Alternate Universe Bobby and Charlie

Although these two have been largely off-screen this season, they are still alive and occasionally mentioned by the boys. Bringing these alternate universe versions of two of our favorite characters was an interesting tactic. It gave us the chance to have shadows of our favorite characters back. Additionally, we could see that different lives and circumstances made Bobby and Charlie become very different people than the originals. Because of this, their relationships weren't the same with the brothers.

Alternate Universe Bobby and Charlie serve as shadows, making us miss the sunny brilliance of the originals. They both serve as placeholders, and we want the originals back.

We Miss: Charlie

Charlie in Supernatural

Original Charlie was quirky, smart, and extremely devoted to the brothers. Really, Charlie was like a sister to them. She sacrificed her life to help Dean, and Dean has never really forgiven himself for her death. Even in death, she helps them. We learn that the credit card she made them is their old faithful, it always works (except once when Chuck strips them of their luck). This means that the brothers don't have to scramble to make ends meet.

Original Charlie had a unique light, and we want it to shine again in Season 15. She was a unique character, one of a kind.

Should Be Phased Out: Amara

Emily Swallow as Amara in Supernatural

Amara, Chuck/God's sister, provided needed tension in previous seasons. She was the Darkness, and Chuck/God was the Light. Presented as the villain of that season, Amara was more complicated than that. True, she had to eat human souls in order to grow in her strength, but she had been tricked and locked away by her brother. She wanted revenge because she had been abandoned. Also, her fascination with Dean drew us to her. We're fascinated with Dean, too.

However, Amara became more of a flat character. We saw a glimpse of her in Season 15, showing us that she's adapted more to this world than she first had. However, what else is Amara doing? Does she care that her brother is on a rampage against his favorites, one of whom is also her favorite? We'd love to see her evolve more, but if she's not going to do that--continue to phase her out.

We Miss: Bobby

We'll always miss Bobby. From his iconic lines to his love for the boys, Bobby is one of a kind. Who else would choose to remain a ghost rather than go to heaven in order to help his boys out? Once in heaven, who else would abandon their heaven to once again help Sam and Dean out? As Bobby once told Dean, "Family don't end with blood, boy," and in some ways, Bobby was more of a father to the brothers than their actual dad.

While we grew tried of the John saga and returns, we never grew tired of Bobby. Bring him back. The boys could use his guidance and understanding one last time.

Should Be Phased Out: Chuck/God

Chuck/God is the big bad this season, and he's developed into the worst villain. He's whiny, arrogant, and displays little consideration for others. After Becky helps him, he smites her and her family. He's become petty and mean. The nuances we liked about him, have disappeared. No doubt, we can sympathize with Lucifer now, strangely enough.

It does look like the show is going to phase him out, or replace him. We're eager to see what will happen next.
