Despite how dorky the costume design looks for Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, based on the latest video journal (#17: “Untitled”), it looks like they’re getting everything else right for the upcoming super-movie.
In the video journal, Dan Harris & Mike Dougherty (the writers of Superman Returns) discuss their thoughts on Superman. They talk about the challenges of telling such a well-known story and what it’s like working with Bryan Singer and his familiar crew. Based on some of what is said, it seems that Singer wants the story to be as plausible as possible within the confines of the genre, which is what Chris Nolan strove for, and worked really well in Batman Begins.

The video Blog looks really cool. I can’t wait for the movie now! But the actor in the suit has bulk up.
I agree, and I *really* wish they’d do some minor design changes to the costume.
Recently I watched the special features on the “Spiderman 2″ DVD and I hadn’t realized that they incorporated a really slick muscle suit underneath the costume. Very subtle and made up of individual pieces to simulate individual muscles.
When I saw the movie I had no idea, and they should do something similar with “Superman Returns”.
