Will Superman Be Unleashed In The Sequel?

superman unleashed Will Superman Be Unleashed In The Sequel?

It was just last week when we heard the crazy rumor of the Wachowski brothers possibly directing a new trilogy of Superman films that was later debunked – and now we have more Superman rumors!

Peter over at /Film apparently got into a password protected page on the Legendary Pictures website with the help of one of their readers and this particular page listed some interesting information for the next Superman project.

Listed on this page of films in development was a movie titled Superman Unleashed, a supposed sequel to Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns. The synopsis of the film listed on the page went as follows:

“Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.”

What does this mean? Probably not much.

I highly doubt the film will be called that for obvious reasons. To me, it’s just the temporary name of the project which emphasizes the increase in action and excitement that they want the movie to achieve.

We already knew there were going to be more Superman films down the road but this suggests that the next will be a follow-up to Superman Returns as opposed to a complete reboot which has been hinted at for a while now (since we found out Bryan Singer would not be involved in the next Man of Steel project).

This information from that page has been taken down since the story was first put online.

What do you think of the synopsis for a possible next installment in the Superman franchise?

  1. Whatever they do its gotta be done right this time as this may be the studios last shot at a Man Of Steel film. If I owned the rights to Supes (I don;t think the studio owns the character rights in total just movie ptions) I would yank away from the Studio any future chance of another Superman film.

I believe they should take this oppertunity to proivde some into/back groupnd on other DC Universe heros who would get thier own movie lke GL (GReen Lantern). There is SOOOO much potential with GL and with CGI what is the technology now exists to pull of a properly done GL film.

Lastly I really feel like they should give Tom Welling (Clark Kent on TVs Smallville) the chance to do his thing on the big screen. Other then the animated pieces, his potrayal of Superman has been the best since Reeves Superman Part 2. The Smallville show is about at its end (not because of sory line quality but sher number of sasons) and the Clark Kent character on that show is at the transition stage anyway.

  2. I’m with EdCarden on the Tom Welling thing. Tom has done the best portrayal of Superman since Reeves S2, which was the last really good superman movie made. Singer and Brandon totally missed the ball on the last one.

  3. I think Brandon Routh did a good job at superman. (note that i did not say great job). I enjoyed Returns as i did the 4 Reeve movies. a film entitled Superman Unleashed better be just that. i think they need to introduce a villian that supes can kick the crap out of, but still involve lex a little bit. it wouldn’t be right to cast him out completely.

  4. I feel that the superman trilogy should continue…Where superman has to face a real destony, where he has to face raising up a son, fight for justice on lex luthers creation, or fight something like doomsday like in smallville, make a simular scene on it, it will get alot of peoples attention, and then take care of lex luther by putting him back in prison or something. You should also put a supergirl in the movie too or make a separate movie.

  5. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SUPERMAN MOVIE WHERE HE REALLY UNLEASHES HIS POWER. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A LOT OF ACTION. I DON’T WANT TO SEE HIM ACTING LIKE A “BOY SCOUT”. I WANT TO SEE ANGER, VENGENGE. I WANT TO SEE HIM DO WHAT NO MAN OR MACHINE CAN DO.

I WANT TO SEE THAT “KINGDOM COME” ATTITUDE.

ACTION VIOLENCE ACTION SPECIAL EFFECTS GALORE. TAKE SOME OF THAT “SMALLVILLE” OUT OF HIM.

  6. If they were to do a sequel …. Have lex kill Kal el's son ( kryptonite bullet or something) that would take care of the inconsistency somewhat. Also I did like Spacey's performance as lex it was the best thing about superman Returns. With that being said if a sequel were to happen please make lex luthor a secondary villian and not the main bad guy we need something fresh.
Now in my personal opinion since these movies are set in a different time frame what I really would like to see in a reboot would be an older superman set in our time frame.. not old enough to be in a nursing home just resonably aged with character and experience to his face… and have louis be died and him visit her at a grave site like in Rocky … that would give the dark edge people are looking for ( show a flash back to lex killing his bastard son in Superman Returns) because he would have nothing else to live for.. but to finally kill lex while at the same time I would love to see Doomsday enter the picture or a return of General Zod his bad ass.

  7. If those two horrible director/weirdo/freaks even THINK of touching Superman…there would be hell to pay.
