I know its good to sometimes have heroes be humbled, but I want to see the “Don`t tug on Superman`s Cape!” version of Kal-El. Like how the clone of Superman in the awesome Superman/Doomsday Animated Film decimated the armed forces in Metropolis I have never had more sympathy for soldiers than I had watching this movie. You want to talk about realism.
THAT WAS REALISM The soldiers were sweating. They were apprehensive.Fingers trembling before they could bring themselves to open-fire.They were saying things like, “We can`t defeat Superman. Dead-men walking…”
The indignity in this photo of some random soldier having his hand on Superman as if he were some common criminal. I can`t help but think of how Superman could rip the guys arm off just by pulling away from his grasp. There is song that says, “I`m not like everybody else.” These words have never been truer than in referrence to The Last Son of Krypton. DC Comics needs to stop trying to have thier cake and eat it too. When it comes to Big Blue.
Superman is either the most powerful sapient being on the planet or he`s a doormat. You can`t be both… The purest definition of power may be control.Control, not of others; but of one`s self.Your life, your body and your choices. In other words: Self-determination. Obeying the will of others can be seen as the antithesis of self-determination. Clark Kent may follow all the laws of the land blindly and obeidiently, but Superman should not. He cannot! Does Superman have a Passport? What laws should a good man follow; when all those around you who make and enforce laws are hypocrites?! This a question which Man of Steel should seek to answer
While I may not agree with everything you said, this is an excellent post.
