[WARNING: Potential spoilers ahead!]

Details about Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel remain sparse, even as its release is a little under four months away. We’ve heard that the film will feature a “more realistic” take on the character and that Superman (Henry Cavill) will face off against General Zod (as played by Michael Shannon). However, the hero’s relationship with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) is as vague as it was when Adams was cast.

Of course, the Man of Steel and The Daily Planet’s top reporter tied the knot in the comics (before it was retconned for The New 52), and in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, they conceived a child together. Regardless, Snyder will no doubt make the Superman mythology his own with Man of Steel. Now some new evidence gives us a hint regarding which direction his film is headed.

According to Comic Book, a few props from the Man of Steel set have found their way to online auctions, and while most of the Lois Lane items include fairly unimpressive items like pens, a pad and straws, it also includes one POTENTIAL SPOILER item: a faux diamond wedding ring.

Of course, this begs the question of exactly how Lois’s marital status factors into the plot of Man of Steel. Perhaps Lois is in a relationship with someone other than Clark when the films opens and becomes engaged during its running time. Of course, there’s always the chance that Superman and Lois attempt to take their relationship to the next level by the film’s end. In Returns, Lois was engaged to Perry White’s nephew, Richard, so anything’s possible.

It’s worth noting that Adams has yet to confirm her involvement in a potential Man of Steel sequel. So until Man of Steel hits theaters everywhere this summer, fans can only speculate what the future holds for the Son of Krypton.

What do you think Snyder is planning for Lois Lane in Man of Steel? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Hmmm…the possibilities of a Superman Returns sequel, if only there was a follow up.

  2. Engaged in the movie, fiance gets killed, Superman reassures her it’ll be ok somehow and she slowly falls in love with him over the next set of movies while keeping Amy’s role in future movies quiet to get fans wondering if Lois will die in this one?

  3. five months, I thought it opens mid June, 3.5 months

I think there will be another man but she will break it off by the end of the movie.

    • Now that you mention it Lois tend to always have “another man”.

    • You make a very valid point.

The link you refer to was posted on the 24th. Two days ago.

  5. Even before this, I’ve been wondering if Lois is going to know rather early on in the film. I have heard that this is the case.

One idea is that perhaps Lois and Clark are already in a relationship when his adopted father, Jonathan dies, causing Clark to become somewhat lost and reconsider the direction of his life. Perhaps this is when he tells her the truth and then goes of on his journey, giving her time to take it in and him time to figure out who he wants to be.

    • They shouldn’t butcher the comic book narrative like that. The Nolanites will excuse it, though, since their idol is involved.

      • What an intelligent comment…Ummm, you DID notice NEP was just giving his opinion of what might happen in the film, right?

Attention to detail…it’s a good thing.

    • agreed

  6. Maybe Clark & Lana date in a sequel.

  7. Lois Lane = Meh!!!

Who cares, lets get it on. The (not) last son of Krypton and Zod. More Krypton, angst, conflict, drama.

    Soap Opera, err No.

    Kneel before ZOD!!

And no hockie reverse polarities please

  8. hmm looking over the items the car rental agreement is from an actual Car Rental company.

I thought it would be a fake one. Maybe that is an Amy Adams item and not Lois Lane prop. :D

  9. This movie is exciting me less and less. I’ll watch it, but I’m not expecting much.

  10. @ Stark

I don’t know what to expect but i know im not overjoyed.

    • @ Stark & Wally West

I am going to reserve judgment until I see the film. I get your vibe though, it’s looking like the movie might be all talky until the last 20 minutes. We’ll see.

  11. I wonder why Superman would care about marriage, it’s quite insignificant if you’re an alien from another planet.

    • Why? Especially if the alien from another planet has been raised to be a human with a decent moral compass and experienced first hand the joy of a loving caring family.

      • I get your point (superman was raised by humans so he understands human traditions) but how does understanding what marriage is relate to having a decent moral compass?

        • It doesn’t, directly. However, the formation of a moral value system and an understanding (and, one presumes, appreciation) of marriage DO share similar bases in regard to instruction in/exposure to such concepts.

  12. The movie will flop or underperform
    I just feel it

  13. Would it have killed them to dye her hair a little darker?

  14. She’s engaged to Lex Luthor!

  15. I like Drew idea remind me of the late 70 and early 80s when they were

  16. Colonel Hardy= Lex Luthor??

  17. It’s Lois’s Mother’s ring.

  18. Maybe the ring is from a previous marriage. Lois has given up on love and is afraid to trust again…Then she meets clark and throughout the movie she become interested in him through their time working together. She also hears about Superman and falls in love with his courage and heroics..only to find out later in the movie that they are the same person. She begins to believe in love again.

  19. What if it’s also fake in the movie. Just to portray as an engaged woman for some undercover assignment.

  20. Honestly, I think I’m the only person on Earth who likes the New 52 Kal-El and Diana pairing. Clark and Lois have been a pair for damn near 70 years. If MoS kicks off DC CU then I’m all for shaking things up by throwing Wonder Woman in the mix.

  21. I think a solid take on a Doomsday story with the Death of Superman would be a huge money maker. The comic did exceedingly well on its release. Lex Luther could still play a role but it would be a sidelines support role. Let’s bring out the one enemy that really puts a huge physical challenge to Superman, like Bane was to Batman. Make the movie a tragedy leaving the audience to feel like we lost one of our own and eager to see him make a comeback in a true Superman fashion.
