     I believe that the suit is supposed to be a type of Kryptonian battle armor in this movie. They did the same thing in the new relaunch of the comics.

   I like the suit, because it looks almost like it’s supposed to resemble the mail of a medieval knight. Emphasizing the “badass” aspect of the character isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
