Jensen Ackles is an incredibly talented actor with a devoted following of fans around the world. He's extremely versatile delivering both impeccable comedic timing and believable drama. His diverse skills make him a great choice for a very wide range of roles. His wholesome good looks give him the ability to play a lot of good looking pop culture icons like superheroes.

Jensen may always be Dean Winchester in some hearts and minds, but the actor is capable of so much more. These superheroes are a good fit for the actor who could nail each role with ease.

Hawkeye

Clint Barton was a small-town boy just like Dean Winchester. He's also driven by a personal moral code just like Dean. He also kept his family secret to protect them. Dean also went to extremes to protect the ones he loves. Hawkeye doesn't have a fantastic track record of mindlessly following orders. He thinks for himself just like Dean. Years of playing Dean Winchester prepared Jensen for this role.

Deadpool

Dean Winchester looking serious in Supernatural

You could easily argue that Deadpool is an anti-hero, much like Batman. Regardless of his questionable methods and language, Jensen Ackles would make an incredible Deadpool. Comedic timing is everything for this sassy character. Any actor tackling the role needs to be able to seamlessly deliver some pretty ridiculous lines as well as some straight-faced goofs.

Jensen has the comedic range to land any outrageous joke the character could possibly deliver. Deadpool is funny but he's a dark character. Dean is also a dark and brooding character with a great sense of humor. Jensen already has all of the skills and experience necessary to take on this iconic character.

Batman

This actor/role combo is a match made in heaven. Playing Batman is a high-pressure role. If fans don't feel that an actor properly executes the role they aren't shy about sharing it. That's the price an actor pays for playing a beloved role. Jensen has so many of the traits necessary to play a great Batman. Batman has a distinct and commanding voice, and so does Jensen. Ackles also has a chin that can stand up to the serious mask on Batman's upper face. He has the dramatic acting skills needed to play the dark and brooding character as well.

Iron Man

Viewers of Supernatural have spent a lot of time with Dean Winchester. Some may not see the genius of the character which is reflective of the genius of Jensen Ackles. Dean is incredibly bright but his academic career suffered as he was constantly moved around. Unlike Sam, he chose to enter the family business and didn't have the chance to attend college. Jensen Ackles himself is also incredibly brilliant. He planned to pursue medical school and a career in physical therapy. His mastery of snark and comedic timing coupled with his intelligence make him a perfect actor to portray Tony Stark. Not to mention his chiseled good looks. As Dean Winchester, he displayed his talent for dramatic emotional scenes as well. He could easily handle the slightly melodramatic role of Iron Man.

The Tick

There are two major requirements to portray The Tick. One is hilarious straightfaced delivery and the other is an incredible chin. Jensen Ackles has both.  He also looks fantastic in blue. The Tick is one of the funniest superheroes out there. His special flavor of comedy is fairly unique. The Tick's jokes come off like an absurdist Captain America. He's always the straight man and everything goes over his head. Jensen has the acting chops to play brave, dumb, and handsome even though he's a very intelligent guy. On Supernatural the role of straight man often went to Sam, but it would be great to watch Jensen expand his resume with this classic comedy skill.

Cable

Nathan Summers delivers some incredible straight-faced lines. His brand of comedy is perfect for Jensen Ackles who has spent years playing Dean and making us laugh without cracking a smile. Cable is tough, dedicated, relentless, and will stop at nothing to eradicate evil. Jensen Ackles has proven he's adept at playing characters with those traits. The biggest obstacle in Jensen's way is his physical difference from the character. Very few human beings are built like comic book characters, and Cable is a hulking wall of muscle shaped like a refrigerator. Plenty of actors have beefed up to play a character but a simple difference in appearance isn't insurmountable.

The Punisher

Dean-Winchester-kills

Frank Castle is dark, gritty, and driven. He's the ultimate bad boy with a sad and tragic origin just like Dean Winchester. Jensen has already proven his medal in playing deeply emotional characters that come across as gruff brutes on the surface. Ackles also looks amazing in a leather jacket and is perfectly at home on a motorcycle. Frank Castle is morally questionable at best and is a true antihero. Castle is driven to eliminate the bad guys where ever he finds them. Just like Dean, Castle has been wrong about targets before and has had to face his mistakes. Jensen is fully warmed up to play this role.

Nick Fury

This is another example of a character that looks nothing like Jensen Ackles but suits his personality. In the comic book universe, Nick Fury is Caucasian, bit in the films he's a man of color. Samuel L Jackson does such an incredible job portraying the role that the character is now a man of color in the hearts and minds of many.

This is proof that many more actors of color should be cast as traditionally Caucasian characters. Jensen could absolutely deliver the gravitas and personality needed to bring this major character to life. When it comes to beloved characters an actor's energy is far more important than their appearance. We're in an exciting time in which roles are opening up to embrace diverse and talented performers.

Hellboy

Dean Winchester looking troubled

Hellboy is known for his sassy personality, snarky sense of humor, and abject refusal to do as he's told. Jensen Ackles is incredible at playing the rebellious bad boy. Far from being typecast, this role would give him an opportunity to further explore his comedic talents as well as display his emotional range. Hellboy is a very sensitive and emotional character after all.

Grifter

Grifter is a handsome and powerful character with a bit of a rage problem. He's a skilled conman who would fit in perfectly with the Winchester family. Much like Jensen Ackles, Grifter never seems to age. He's no stranger to living life on the run as a wanted man. Jensen Ackles would be the perfect actor to portray this fascinating character.
