Supergirl fans have had plenty of time to speculate about what will happen in the next episode of the show, thanks to its spring hiatus this month. The show returns next week with 'Ace Reporter', an episode that will see Kara (Melissa Benoist) brushing up on her reporter skills as she starts to investigate an ex-boyfriend of her friend Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath). The episode will feature iZombie star Rahul Kohli as the mysterious ex, Jack Spheer.

Fans already knew that Spheer will be comic book villain Biomax, thanks to a series of images from the episode released last week. Now, a new trailer for the final few episodes of the show provides a better look at Biomax, as well as a few other adversaries for the girl of steel.

Although labeled as the trailer for 'Ace Reporter' the promo is actually an advertisement for the remaining episodes, as it includes scenes of several villains who will be appearing before the end of the season 2. Teri Hatcher makes a reappearance as Rhea, as well as Lynda Carter in her character's Durlan form. Then there is also a shot of an imposing person in a black helmet, as well as Kholi in a cloud of his nanotech, in a few dark scenes with some wonderfully ominous music.

With only five episodes left this season, that's a lot of villains to pack in, along with everything else that has been teased for the characters, but there is little doubt that the team at The CW will be able to pack in everything the series needs to send its sophomore season off in style. In that case there may be a few surprises coming up. After all, Carter's Durlan president may be an ally rather than an adversary. That would certainly give Kara one less bad guy to fight as fans already know that Rhea has it in for Supergirl and Biomax is a comic book villain. As for the figure in the black helmet? Well, fans will just have to wait to find out.

Unlike other CW shows, Supergirl doesn't seem to be driving toward a single big bad confrontation this season, although her conflict with Rhea has been building for some time. It is likely that Biomax's appearance will be a freak-of-the-week style guest spot, and that Rhea will be the biggest bad that we see this year. The other option is for the show to try and set up a bigger bad in the final few episodes, which is far less probable.

Supergirl returns Monday, April 24 with 'Ace Reporter' at 8pm on The CW.
