The CW releases action-packed synopses for the pivotal episodes just before the season finales of Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow. Though the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow has already aired, leaving the Waverider team in a distorted version of 2017 they created, the rest of the Arrowverse series are still building towards some pretty epic final episodes. The Flash and the Green Arrow are still in pursuit of their greatest foes, Savitar and Prometheus, respectively, while Supergirl may have more than one alien threat on her hands.

While The Flash fans are still waiting to learn the true identity of Savitar, the ongoing mission on Arrow is to find and defeat the unmasked Adrian Chase, no matter the cost. Oliver will even be going as far as recruiting former enemies for the final battle, including a major villain from the beginning of the series. It won't be the only show, however, that's revisiting the past.

In the latest Arrowverse synopses, released by The CW for the episodes just before each show's finale, the common thread is the return of a major character. The week kicks off on May 15 with Supergirl and the surprise arrival of Kara's first mentor at CatCo.

"Resist" - CAT GRANT RETURNS – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) grapples with whether or not to obey the President’s (guest star Lynda Carter) orders regarding Rhea’s (guest star Teri Hatcher) latest actions. Meanwhile, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) returns to National City. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Jessica Queller & Derek Simon.

Supergirl Season 2 Premiere Kara Danvers Cat Grant

On Tuesday, May 16, The Flash takes a page from Arrow as Barry recruits a villain - someone we've recently seen a lot of on Legends of Tomorrow - to help defeat Savitar.

"Infantino Street" - THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS; WENTWORTH MILLER RETURNS AS CAPTAIN COLD – With only 24 hours left until Savitar murders Iris (Candice Patton), Barry (Grant Gustin) struggles to save the woman he loves and makes the choice to use any means necessary to do so. Realizing he has one option left to save her, The Flash turns to Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) for help. Michael Allowitz directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Grainne Godfree.

The season's penultimate episode of Arrow airs on May 17, and features a returning foe who is sticking to the side of evil.

"Missing" - BLACK SIREN RETURNS – Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy) returns to help Chase (Josh Segarra). Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) organizes a birthday party for Oliver (Stephen Amell) while Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is furious after Rene (Rick Gonzalez) misses the custody hearing for his daughter. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Oscar Balderrama.

All three episodes promise some emotional challenges for our characters as well as the likely physical battles with their enemies. If the past is anything to go by, Cat Grant could offer Kara some advice that ultimately helps Supergirl in her dilemma involving Mon-El's mother Rhea. We've seen both the good and bad sides of Captain Cold, however, so it's less certain how much help he will be to Barry in his efforts to save Iris.

Over on Arrow, Chase will once again be putting Oliver in both physical and psychological danger, by teaming up with beloved Laurel's evil doppelgänger. All three shows should be exciting and building up tons of suspense for all the action, surprise reveals, and possibly fatal consequences lurking in the finales airing the following week.
