This year, the DCTV universe is preparing for its largest and most ambitious crossover event to date; not only once again bringing together the characters of Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, but also finally letting Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl interact with more than just Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen as well. With all of those powerful characters working together too, the creative teams behind the shows are planning on bringing to life a storyline from the DC comics only truly fitting of a team-up of this magnitude, when the Dominators come to Earth for “Invasion!.”
Now, we’re only a few weeks away from the crossover and following some recent promos and a sneak peek clip that was released from it, a new poster for the event has been released teasing the Maiden of Might’s role in the battle. It also teases a possible inclusion of none other than Martian Manhunter (David Harewood), a character who fans have speculated about joining Kara in her fight with the Dominators.
Released on Twitter through the official Supergirl account, the poster features Supergirl and Martian Manhunter primed and ready for battle, while also offering yet another great look at the TV version of the Dominators. Take a look for yourself below:
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim had previously teased how the alien species would look, and the methods they’d be using to bring them to life onscreen, promising a faithful version of the Dominators – and that does appear to be the case, based on this new poster. Compared to the comic book versions of the Dominators, these look fairly spot on, and manage to avoid looking goofy and cheesy, unlike some of the other FX-heavy characters that have been seen previously on The CW’s DC TV shows.
After her critically-acclaimed crossover with The Flash last season, fans have been anxiously waiting to see Kara Danvers interacting with some of her fellow DC heroes once again. When it was revealed that Supergirl would be transitioning over from CBS to the CW for its second season also, it was all but guaranteed that an all-out crossover between The CW’s DC TV series would be taking place, and the Arrowverse execs didn’t take long before confirming it either. Already, it seems like Kara’s developing a fun, strong relationship with the other characters of the Arrowverse – and with the Dominators threatening to destroy Earth, it seems fair to say that the Earth-1 heroes are going to need all the help they can get from Kara (and possibly other Supergirl characters).
Supergirl continues tonight with ‘The Darkest Place’ at 8pm on The CW.
