With the mega-sporting event of the Superbowl rolling around once more, for us movie fans it means that the biggest studios in the business will be paying money (A LOT of it – $3 million to be exact) to run 30-second TV spots during the event.
Adage has the info on which studios have bought ad space and which movies they will be advertising, so read on below to find out.
During Superbowl XLIV on February 7th this year, you’ll be seeing ads from three of the biggest studios: Universal, Paramount and Walt Disney.
First, Paramount has bought the most amount of spots with a total of three and they will be advertising Iron Man 2, Shutter Island and The Last Airbender, all of which are highly anticipated around these parts (all three made Screen Rant’s 2010 most anticipated list). For Paramount’s ads you should look out during the first and second quarters to catch them.
Both Disney and Universal have bought at least one spot but both declined to comment on their “Superbowl activity.” However, Disney will most likely be raising awareness for Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3 or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and Universal will most likely choose The Wolfman or Robin Hood.
Those are all movies I’m highly anticipating, and let’s hope the footage shown is new and not just old footage set in a different order. I’m particularly hoping for new stuff from Iron Man 2 and Toy Story 3 because I’m looking forward to those two the most.

Hmmmm … you know what I just realized? I have a booth at our local bridal fair on freakin’ Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!! I better get a lot of business out this show!
I’m glad the TV Spot for “Iron man 2″ will be online, so I don’t have to waste my time with watching the super bowl.
Yeah, but there is nothig like watching the ads “live”.

I DVR the Super Bowl and then fast forward through the game to watch the commercials of the first half and half time. That’s when the good stuff runs – second half = repeates and “meh” commercials.

No offense but Im as big as a movie fan as the next guy but I watch the Superbowl for the game not commercials.The commercials will be online th enext day anyway.
The only time I ever leave the room during the actual “show” haha that’s why they have good commercials, so try can get nerds like us to watch it.
Whenever a movie is advertised during the Super Bowl, it’s guaranteed to make some money (two of last year’s crappiest movies, Year One and Land of the Lost were advertised during last year’s Super Bowl), but the more highly anticipated the movie is, the more money it’s likely to earn if it’s advertised during the Super Bowl.
Paramount, Walt Disney and Universal have several films which are eagerly anticipated — like Iron Man 2, The Wolfman and Alice in Wonderland — and which will also prove to be serious moneymakers for them, so they’re going to make sure those ads are seen and (hopefully) remembered when they hit the multiplex.

No matter what you think of the actual game, you’ve got to admit … the commercials for the Super Bowl are often funny and imaginative, which is why it can be very difficult to leave the room.
Iron Man 2, Toy story 3, and Robin hood are the only films mentioned that I have any interested in.
guys am I the only one who watches it for the game vic how can u fastforward the superbowl I mean its the superbowl the one game where boths teams give it there all the whole game. Im lookin forward to toystory 3 for sure though.
Meh I usually do exactly what Vic does unless it’s a team that I somewhat care about. So if one of 3 specific teams don’t make it I just fast forward .

I'm def. watching the superbowl because I do enjoy football (I hope the Colts are in it), and I'm also looking forward to the commercials. I especially want to see a new Toy Story 3 commercial. There's no reason why there shouldn't be one. That's my most anticipated movie of the year BY FAR.
