Best Super Bowl Commercials 2012: The Best of the ‘Meh’
At $3.5 million per 30-second spot, companies willing to pay for Super Bowl XLVI commercials are looking for additional ways to make use of their most expensive promotional seconds by releasing their commercials early.
For non-football fans, this means you won’t have to sit around watching the big game on Sunday to join on in the Monday water cooler talk. For football fans, this means you’ll get to brag about knowing which commercials are the best – before they air on television.
If you’re looking for movie trailers, we’ll have a complete list of Superbowl Movie Trailers posted after the big game.
Check out our ever-expanding list of 2012 Super Bowl commercials below. While not everyone has released their ads early, the majority of companies have. From M&Ms’ Ms. Brown, to Acura’s “Seinfeld”, to Toyota “Reinventing” everything, to Audi killing off Team Edward with its headlight – Super Bowl commercials bring out the best (and maybe worst) of each company.
Which ones will be your favorite? Take a look at the ads below and decide:

For some reason I can’t play them (on an iPad)
Bark side is the best!
That’s not how you spell Volkswagen
That’s not how you spell Volkswagen.
Where’s the Ameritrade baby???
Solitary.
Best Memorable One-liners:
Pepsi – “Pepsi for all”
Teleflora – “Give and you shall receive”
Cadillac – “Go to green hell and see for your self”
Camry – “Every Camry driver …. has a story – what’s yours?
Suzuki (eskimo) – “I traded it in”
Audi (vampires) – “Daylight now in a headlight”
Best “reruns”:
Mean Joe Green – Downy
Matthew Broderick – Honda
Honorable Mention:
VW – dog exercises to chase car
Hyundai – employees singing, humming, and performing
Kraft – beVita breakfast bar – 2 police officers
Chevy Volt – explaining to aliens about the electic car
Best:
Budweiser – Canadian recreation league hocky teams/Flash fans
Kia – Dream Dust/so many super moments/people
Disappointments:
VW did not capitilize on the popularity of the Darth Vader kid
No Betty White any where
Betty White is in an an ad for The Voice.
And vw DID capitalize on the vader kid. Watch the “VW – dog exercises to chase car” commercial and keep watching at the end.
Thanks for including our Big Game ad! Just giving everyone a heads up – we have more content about the commercial to the right of the screen. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/KiaBGAd
Cheers,

is that danica patrick????????/// can’t she put herself out of her misery finally?????????????/ she is very annoying
@ Sam KIA-Thanks for including Mr. Sandman in the ad. My mother recorded that song with the Chordettes and still gets royalties. Carmax used one of their songs in a Super Bowl ad last year. Pretty cool stuff for us.
I thought the vast majority were very typical American violence, speed, sex ads, a few with an inkling of an idea but without much imagination. Unfortunately, American ads don’t hold a candle to the best produced in Europe. That said, I thought the best among these were…
- both Dorritos ads, except for the poor CGI on the kid’s flight
- Hyundi “Think Fast” – ingenious idea for CPR
- best line: end of E-Trade Fatherhood, where kid is talking with father and brother Bobby is wandering among the newborns.
Kid: Bobby! Bobby, what are you doing man?
Bobby: I’m speed dating.
Honorable mention:
- Bridgestone – first one with the curving ball
Worst:
Budweiser – using Prohibition – insulting
Go Daddy ads – Danica really doesn’t get it
Most of the car ads, especially the Chevy one vs. Ford, which was stupid
Most Demagogic: Clint Eastwood on Detroit and America for Chrysler
I can’t find the commercial I’m looking for. It might have been post game. It was a car commercial, but I was too busy laughing at it to remember the car! It had bugs planning a trip and climbing into the grill of the car.
Found it, you should add it to the list. It’s missing!

No one put up the PSYCH commercial during the pre-show?
Hey where is the Derek Jeter Ford Commercial?
