For those keeping track (or not), DC Comics and Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad will be the third film in the emerging DC movie universe started by Man of Steel and continued next summer in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Directed by David Ayer (Fury), the film will look in on the villainous underworld of the DC Universe, following a group of criminals (some of the most iconic in the DCU), as they are coerced into a black-ops mission by the mysterious Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

While we know that the movie will feature big stars like Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto playing characters like Deadshot, Harley Quinn and The Joker (respectively), but more recent rumors have painted a more extensive (and for fans, exciting) picture of what this movie will be all about.

Here's a quick breakdown of some the recent RUMORS we've heard about Suicide Squad:

Today, scoopmaster "El Mayimbe" from Latino-Review is dropping yet another Suicide Squad update - this time about fan-favorite character Harley Quinn, who will be played by Wolf of Wall Street and Focus star, Margot Robbie:

If this RUMOR turns out to be at all true, then it should be pleasing to fans of DC Comics, at the very least. Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series during the 1990s, but the character has since taken on a life and popularity that has made her a mainstay in DC Comics to this day.

When it was announced that Harley was going to be brought to life for the first time onscreen by Margot Robbie, fan interest immediately turned toward the who closely connected the comic/cartoon and movie versions would be. For Robbie that means everything from Harley's iconic voice, to her appearance, and relationship to the Joker (which has already been through many stages, within the source material).

Joker and Harley Quinn

What Mayimbe reports sounds like it will both honor the source material and give Harley some other dimensions (dress, prison outfit sans makeup) to help really flesh out the character. I, for one, would expect that coming out of this film, Harley will be a recurring player in future DCMU films (like the Batman reboot); no doubt Suicide Squad will invest time in building a solid foundation under the character.

Suicide Squad features Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It is written and directed by David Ayer.
