Sucker Punch character posters Character Posters for the Ladies of Sucker Punch

With the 2010 Comic Con well under way, it’s not a surprise we’re getting so many goodies promoting the most anticipated movies on the horizon. One such film is Sucker Punch, an upcoming fantasy/action flick from 300 and Watchmen director, Zack Snyder.

The panel for Sucker Punch isn’t until tomorrow but that doesn’t mean Warner Bros. isn’t already in the process of whetting our appetites – today, we have six brand new character posters featuring the ladies that will be kicking ass and taking names come next March.

We got our first look at the characters just last week via an image from Entertainment Weekly. It showed them in full leather “attack” gear with weapons in-tow.

Thankfully, the new posters are equally badass, but this time each image features a specific character played by the likes of Emily Browning (Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events), Jamie Chung (Dragonball: Evolution) and Abbie Cornish (Stop-Loss).

When word first surfaced about Sucker Punch – and that it was about a girl who gets locked into a mental institution, I thought, “Why the hell is Zack Snyder going near a project like this?” Then you look at the full plot description and it becomes clear why: it involves the main character creating her own fantasy world to try and escape the institution.

Take a look at the posters below (click for high-res versions):

With the flare for imagination and visuals Snyder has shown in previous films such as 300 and Watchmen, as well as his upcoming fantasy-adventure Legend of the Guardians, I don’t have any doubt we’re in for something unique with Sucker Punch.

The ladies of the film all look tough as nails. As far as my favorite poster, I’m torn between Baby Doll and Sweet Pea. They’re both holding swords, why else? icon razz Character Posters for the Ladies of Sucker Punch

What’s your favorite poster and why?

The official website for Sucker Punch recently went live, so jump over there when you get a chance as it features some cool flash visuals of the ladies shooting at an army of attackers.

Remember and check back at Screen Rant tomorrow for our coverage of the Sucker Punch Comic Con panel!

Sucker Punch stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino, and Abbie Cornish. It opens in regular, 3D, and IMAX theaters on March 25th, 2011.

  1. Heck! I hadn’t even heard of this until this article. I am so telling my hubby we are seeing this film. lol And Babydoll is my fav. It’s the blue theme of her poster, draws my eyes. But if you notice, her poster is unique. First, the snow? is not in any of the other posters and second, all the other posters’ backgrounds are war-torn with western style buildings while the buildings behind Babydoll are Asian and the landscape is clean and fresh. It’s really quite striking how different her poster is, almost as if the people who created them lavished more time and attention on that poster. Even her costume is quite different from the others. Yeah, Babydoll’s poster is one I could hang in my home, right beside Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan. :)

  2. Amber!!! She’s the hottest.

  3. human perception of beauty is amazingly bland.
the first four people almost look exactly the same!
facial structure, eyes, pout, everything seems to follow a textbook.
or is that a photochopper going a little too far?

I loves me some beautiful women, but this really took me aback.. :\

  4. nickel,

Interesting you should say that, I actually think that the similarities of dress and background contribute to that illusion. I found Blondie and Amber to be the most similar in looks and Rocket to be the unique one, especially in the face. It is true that there is an amazing sameness about the women – everything from color to sleek line of dress to hair to background. I think that is why Babydoll stood out so sharply for me, even the way she is standing with 2 weapons, feet braced apart made her different.

  5. Sweet Pea is my favorite. There’s just something about a woman wielding a sword that’s….sexy.

  6. None of these girls look like this in real life. I know all the actresses but the only ones I recognized right away were Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung. The posters do look really cool though.

  7. Well the main character of the film is Babydoll, hence her different pose from the others and the more attention seeking blue background. Each character has their own different scheme. Ancient Japan, WWI, mecha future, alien world and dragon LOTR land.

The similar appearance of features is simple. The posters were drawn by the same artist, from photographs of the actresses. It’s obvious he couldn’t quite capture or willfully changed some of the facial features of everyone except Vanessa Hudgens and Jaime Chung.

    • Yes, once I did some looking into the film, I did discover that Babydoll is the protagonist so it would make sense that her poster would be designed to stand out more. However, the sameness of the other posters, imo, really detracts from the idea that each of these women is unique. Yes, I realize they are part of a series so to some extent they should be similar, but really, they do look a bit too much the same for me.

A shame that the actresses are not more aptly portrayed, but maybe it is a testament to the makeup artists?

  8. I like Rocket. Something about her short hair and eyes.

  9. How did an asian chick make it in to this movie…affirmitive action.

  10. I heard that this movie will not be made into 3-D!!

    • Thank God! 3-D costs more and is nothing but a pop-up book.

  11. I’ve actually been waiting for this for some time. It’s between Amber and Blondie for me. Jamie Chung and Vanessa Hudgens are both SOOOO hot! But Emily Browning (Babydoll) looks awfully fine, too.

  12. I like Blondie and Baby Doll.

  13. This was not a movie i would recomend to anyone, yea plenty of crap for movies this year, but this one is the iceing on the cake. LOVE ACTION HORROR,SHOOTING, SWORDS AND HOT CHICKS, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A CHICK DIRECTED THIS. 1 STAR FOR THE LADIES, nothing more.

    • *WOULDNT

      • A ‘Chick’ wouln’t direct this? I’m a girl & it’s my favourite film in the world ever xD I watched it with my friends [all girls!] and they loved it too!
I have the Babydoll poster on the wall in my room, Emily Browning is my idol *u* Seriously this is like my dream, perfect film, I’ve seen it twice as well, love it so much :] I want to get another Babydoll poster in a different style as well… I’d so fill my room wth Babdoll xD I love the Japanese-ness too :D Sucker Punch is just so great xDDD

  14. You actually make it appear so easy with your presentation however I find this topic to be really something that I believe I would by no means understand. It seems too complicated and extremely huge for me. I’m having a look forward for your subsequent put up, I will try to get the hang of it!
