This is good news indeed! OH, it has restored my faith in JMS. Could this be a turning point that will raise Science Fiction back up from trash? Please, please, please let it be true.

On the one hand I don’t see the need for a remake of Forbidden Planet. It remains a classic scifi movie; one of the best.

On the other hand, this does seem to be guided by someone with the right passion and motives. So often remakes are done by people out for money and glory.

Can you say, HMS Bellerophon expedition?

Could be cool, could still be called “Forbidden Planet.”
Could be scarier than …. well you know!!

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Since this is a “complimentary piece”, does this mean it will be a prequel? Since, like JMS said, Altair 4 blew up, a sequel is out of the question. So, what does “complimentary piece” really mean?

the old man says:

Well, like a hat is to a coat. Would you call a separate story about Altair a prequel if it doesn’t lead into the 1956 movie? Could JMS actually pull off showing the story of the krell? Rather than Morbius telling us about the Krell. Does this have something to do with the technology being used to make “Avatar?”
