I don’t care either way; gave up any hope for good video game movies after I saw Max Payne! They took one of the better scripts with twists which was depicted in an awesomely cinematic manner in the game and made a C grade movie out of it!The execution was so bad that Mark Wahlberg stood no chance of doing the role any justice.

Gears of War had no real story to begin with, going to be a disasterous movie.

God of War movie won’t be much better either unless its’ made in some ingenius manner.

I would like to see this done right. Potentially 2 films if they begin the story with emergence day, perhaps introduce Marcus and show in detail why he ends up in prison. Same can be done with introducing Dom, show his relationship with his wife then have emergence day, destruction, pain and blood. create hatred of the Locust then give the audience what they would want, revenge. The film could have a good run time focusing on these things, setting up characters and story. 2 films would be nice.

The story is about a freaking world being torn apart by war, and that’s completely what they should focus on.

I wouldn’t mind the moving being about Emergence Day. I think that would be a really way to start the franchise and place it’s roots down. I enjoyed the first gears alot but havn’t got around to play the second one. But as it is, people who say there is no story, well this is the chance for that story to be expanded

See, I’m ok with this.
I never totally saw the point of game adaptations that just remake the events of the game. We already saw that, heck we already lived it!
So making a movie out of stuff we didn’t see, to compliment the games, seems like a good idea.

Gears of War is not really a thought provoking game. It is basically run and gun, a big time dog fight which is really fun, with a simplistic story. The Locust attacked us, we fight back. It is not rocket science.
All these guys have to do is take cues from Hamburger Hill & We Were Soldiers and have the film follow 4 Machismos gunning their way through. C’mon guys, it really isn’t that hard to write.

why do they not get the people who are involved in making this movie play the game, they actually would enjoy it while it is “educating” them…
