Steven Seagal Expendables 3 Steven Seagal Offered Expendables 3 Role

The Expendables was an unprecedented movie event in that it collected some of the biggest action stars in film (and/or sports entertainment) for a drag-out, blood-spattering, action flick orgy of violence and one-liners. Despite the kick of having stars like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in one movie, it was hard not to notice those stars who passed on the opportunity.

After the success of the first installment, we saw action movie icons like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme reverse their initial decisions and join what will hopefully be Con Air director Simon West’s superior sequel, The Expendables 2. But even with that increased level of badassery, one name has still been notably absent from the gang. Now, we hear that Expendables 3  (which may start filming sooner before later) might be the film that finally breaks his holdout.

Our friends at JoBlo picked up on a French magazine interview with none other than ‘modern renaissance man’ Steven Seagal, in which the subject of Stallone’s Expendable movies was raised. Said Seagal:

“He [Sylvester Stallone] plans to do another one and I have already been made an offer. We’ll see …”

The star sounds rather nonchalant in that response, but we can’t imagine why – it’s not as if he has been burning up the silver screen lately. Seagal is best known (and often mocked) these days for the TV series True Justice, and his real-life pursuits; other than that, his only (semi-)memorable movie role of recent memory was his part in Robert Rodriguez’ Machete spin-off.

I say all that to say: at this point Seagal should be excited that there is even a modicum of demand for him to do big-budget action work. Then again, if he’s too busy or prestigious for The Expendables 3, he could still stay in the spotlight this way:

The Expendables 2 hits theaters on August 17, 2012.

We’ll keep you updated on the status of The Expendables 3.

  1. kevin costner is a bad guy in Expendables 3

  2. mr. t should be in Expendables 3

    • How about you

    • put all of these

    • ideas into

    • one post?

  3. Sounds awsome but… Tbh the 3rd movie should have 2 bad guys… John travolta & Nicolas cage. Nuff said

  4. I can do with or without Seagal. But where is Mr. T? Carl Weathers? How ’bout Lou Ferrigno for kicks? Some of the original American Gladiators! LOLOL! But really, I’d like to see some chick badassery. Sigourney Weaver with sidekicks Vasquez (from Aliens) and Michelle Rodriguez. ????

    • Just PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE, NO Dwayne Johnson. PLEASE!!!

      • y not Dwayne he is a good action movie star !!

  5. tommy lee jones and kurt russell face off against each other in this one.

  6. Steven seagal in expendables 3 : yes !!!!!!!!!
I would like to see Mister T and vin diesel or Dwayne Johnson, why not.

  7. When I, and many others, think of 80s/90s action stars that are missing from the Expendables franchise, Steven Seagal is the most well-known and glaring omission. So, for me, Seagal has to be in the third movie. I know that he has beef with Lerner. But, they should put it aside to get the last very well-known 90s action hero that hasn’t been in an Expendables movie yet into Expendables 3.

  8. What about Danny Trejo?

    • Trejo would be good in it. But, obviously, A LOT MORE people know Seagal than Trejo.

  9. Steven Seagal should just put his problems with Nu Iamge/Millenium Films’ producers aside and do it just for the fans, since they would love to see him square off against the likes of Stallone,Statham,Norris, and Lundgren on-screen.

    • Seagal’s problem is with Avi Lerner. Nevertheless, you are correct.

  10. Mr T., Carl Weathers and a nod to the previous generation with Burt Reynolds or Clint Eastwood.

  11. Mr T is way old! and he is no longer in great shape. Seagal is also in terrible shape. If Mr t as able to beef up I think it would be awesome if he had a cameo.
As for Seagal I seriously doubt he has the discipline to work of his gut in time. Okay now for my list of guys I would like to see.
    1. An Eastwood cameo really needs to be in the expendables franchise. In my book it’s whole premise will be met if Eastwood just makes one 5 minute scene.
    2. Jackie Chan, Nothing more needs to be said other than just Jacky Chan!
    3. Sean Connery! He could be playing cards with Eastwood or something Just put him in the movie.
    4. Kurt Russel has to be in also andhis characters name has to be Snake something
    5. Bolo Young! Goog gracious that would be epic! He is still in great shape too.
    6. And will smith as a villain. But only because I want to seehim get beat up.

    • OMG. You, sir, rule so mightily hard!

  12. I think Steven Seagal should join Expendables with the rest of Actors. He is one of my favorite actor too. He should join in the next Expendables. Also I want Jackie Chan to join too. It will be awsome if all in there.

  13. C’mon, it’s hardly unprecedented to round up a gang of (action) stars or has beens and put them in one action or other movie. It’s done all the time. Kelly’s heroes or the dirty dozen come to mind. I’m sure there are better examples. The execution might be one of the better and certainly more relevant to us than 40 year old movies, but the idea doesn’t seem very new.

    Nothing new under the sun.

    • It does not happen all time. No need for hyperbole.

  14. They should include Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, Steven Seagal, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, and as guest actor appearance the “Most interesting man on the world” Jonathan Goldsmith.

  15. i would like to see Micheal J White, Mark Dukaskis these martial artists are very fit and young more agile and more exciting to watch
The older stars in expendables 2 were o.k but younger rawer talent is required. I did not rate Van Dam in this movie well well past his best come
back Wesley Snipes all is forgiven,

  16. Your missing the point, 90% of the stars in this sequel were huge stars in the 80′s and 90′s, we are talking HUGE hollywood blockbusters. ( I dont Include Jason Statham in this …

So why would Sly Hire Carl Weathers, Vin Diesel, Travola, Cage? Ok Maybe all big stars in there own right, but in a different class of action film compared to Arnie, Willis, Stallone, Norris, Austin.. I think Seagal would be a nice fit ( he would have to lose a few pounds first, lol .

That said Seagal has a pretty busy schedule at present. True Justice, Lawman, Writer, Director, Musician, MOJO Priest and UFC Fight Trainer, Not to mention all the charity work he does. Lets see if he accepts, if not well it was a nice idea……

  17. mark dacascos,steven seagal,iko uwais,clint eastwood,tony jaa,jackie chan,al pacino n michael dudikoff

  18. Michael Keaton, Charlie Sheen, Clint Eastwood, maybe Kevin Costner should all be considered!

  19. Expendables meets predator 1, it would be massive for both franchises

    Make it happen Hollywood.

  20. Wesley Snipes as to come back, is on screen chemistry with Stallone, in demolition man was awsome.

  21. There’s some really great options for bad guys, actors who are so adaptive to playing either role.

For a woman Expendable shout, I’d say Milla Jovovich SHE WOULD KICK SOME ASS! And take to that role perfectly, just look at her in resident evil.

  22. Would love to see Kurt Russell in this one. Seagal would be good and I love the idea of Nick cage as a bad guy. Remember face/off? Awesome performance even if he was the bad guy for about 15 mins! Like to see Steve Austin back too but realise that could lead to a bit of a cheesy twin brother thing since has death in the first film.

  23. I would like to see Steven Seagal in The Expendables 3. Also I would like to see Michael Biehn with the crew and ROn Pearlman as a bad guy in that movie.

  24. Iron mike Tyson the legend!!!!!

  25. Steven Seagal cool. What about Vinnie Jones, Vin Diesel, The Rock?

  26. Seagal’s appearance would be great. He was a hardcore ass kicker! Wesley Snipes I’m not too crazy about. Great actor, but he’s too much comedy. His comedy is different from Stallones, Willis’, and Arnolds. If you wanted to see Expendables 3 be awful, and corny then I’d suggest to consider Tom Cruise lol, or even like Pierce Brosnan.

Also, I LOVE Jet Li, but he’s not old enough for Expendables. They could have replaced him with Robin Shou (Mortal Kombat, Beverly Hills Ninja), or even better they should have put Jackie Chan in there. He has a number of Great action movies…. Rumble in the Bronx, Mr. Nice Guy, etc.. too many to even think of.

  27. Clint Eastwood, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford, Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Liam Hemsworth, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Arnold Schwarzenegger,Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Kevin Costner, Dwayne Johnson, jackie chan, al pacino, Sean Connery, Vin Diesel, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Kurt Russell, Mel Gibson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sigourney Weaver, Antonio Banderas, Matt Damon, Ray Stevenson, Daniel Craig, Christopher Lambert, Kurt Russell, Hugh Jackman, Will Smith, Buster Crabbe, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, John Wayne, Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen, Toshiro Mifune, Lee Marvin, Chow Yun Fat, Charles Bronson, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Pierce Brosnan.

    • AGGREE :)
